Island Hopping in Iloilo! featuring Islas de Gigantes and Sicogon Island

- In this vlog, we head back to the Visayas region but this time with our sights set on Iloilo province.
First stop is SICOGON, an island located in northern Iloilo, which is part of the municipality of Carles. It is named after a type of grass that grows in abundance on the island, called Cogon. Lucky for us Huni Resort had finally reopened its doors to tourists, a popular go to resort for travelers.
On the second day, we went off island hopping in the nearby ISLAS DE GIGANTES (the islands of giants), a remote group of islands located off the coast of Carles and Estancia towns. The islands are blessed with pristine white sand beaches, bountiful fresh seafood, and jagged rock formations. According to local folklore, Its name came from the stories that bones of giant humans were found in one of the caves in the area. Despite the increase in tourist arrivals in recent years, Gigantes has retained its off-beat charm and remains relatively untouched compared to other mainstream tourist destinations in the country.

I have been there in Sicogon way back when I was still a kid. There is still no resort back then. I remember there is a nearby smaller island where you can cross by foot when it's in low tide.
Now Sicogon has been developed and it has been really beautiful.
I am from Iloilo, pero matagal na hindi nakauwi. Been working in the Middle East for a long time. Happy to see you feature Iloilo.
We feel fortunate that we were given the chance to showcase Iloilo although there’s so much more to be discovered in the province. Hope you can fly back sometime and see Iloilo again!

One thing we learned coming from Manila to Carles Iloilo, better land at Roxas City Airport cos it is 1.5hr ride to Carles.
