    I had never heard before, your explanation of why farrier tongs are farrier tongs. Makes sense, and now I might make a pair to try them out. I also noticed that you were very careful to pick up metal with tongs, even when to us, the metal appeared cool. Very nice reinforcement of an important habit for every blacksmith.

      Hello Mark, everything I know about these tongs were things i learned from many different farriers...since there is not a lot known about these tongs. And yes, indeed I tend to pick up my material very carefully. It makes a lot of sense to me, because being in a rush and not being careful is often a cause for heavy injuries.
      I like to spend two more seconds when pcking up my material a lot more than spending weeks in a hospital :)
