Very Fair comparison. But I would have to say I would go with the ego. Just because of the price. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Watched all 3 videos, great honest review from someone who clearly takes pride in their work, Unlike many other reviews! Cheers.
Hey Ross. Thanks so much for that kind of feedback. It really gives me the confidence to make more of these types of reviews. 😃
@@mikedaygm I am a self employed gardener/groundskeeper, it’s always hard to know what to get or look at when you are about to invest thousands in your business. Reviews like these are great.
Considering the husqvarna with a battery is £614.00 and Ego with a 2.5AH battery is £279 I think the Ego is the way to go.. battery technology is far superior to husqvarna IMO. No overheating issues and much more robust.. plus an extra 20 volts with the Ego 👍🏼
I enjoyed all 3 videos Mike, I know that your a big Husky fan so I was pleasantly surprised to see a fairly unbiased comparison of the two machines.
Usually with these types of vids it’s mainly to compliment one brand and slate another so I was happy to see that didn’t happen.
You made some good points about both, I had never heard both machines run side by side so I never realised how different they sounded. The ego sound has never bothered me but if I went from the husky’s lower tone to the ego it might annoy me too.
And your right about the battery, I’ve dropped mine a couple of times and it seems indestructible. It makes a solid thud rather than a cracking sound.
Nice one, I look forward to more vids 👍🏼
Hey Ben! I hope your well bro.
That's really nice of you to say that thankyou. I tried my best in weighing up the pros and cons of each Machine as anyone else would. Being a husky fan myself it's hard to talk down on it. I was as honest as I could possibly be. Thank Ben x
Yes Ben the mChines sound so different. Your right if your used to the ego the your used to it already. It's very high pitched and winey. The husky is low and very bassy. So coming from the husky to ego like you mentioned was wierd. Both sound different. The batteries from ego are beasts though. Like you say if I drop it it will live on.
Fair comments and review 👌
Thanks martyn👌😁
Good review Mike, Husky kit is great but expensive to a lot of people, Ego kit is the “mid range” kit I think, places for both - 👍👍
Thanks Jeff👍
Yeah that Husky stuff is more pricey. Definstely better though. Ego is just behind it but a lot cheaper. Interwsting.
Enjoyed your comparison Mike, I kinda knew how this would turn out but great to hear your opinion. 👍🏻
Thanks Kai! I think we share similar opinions really. Great mind think alike....
I'll be reviewing the Husky and Ego Strimmer next. Look out for it👌😁
Mike Day GM look forward to the next video mate 👍🏻
Stihl Cordless pro stuff has been very good, No dealers sell the husky stuff off the shelf locally in Dorset. Def the majority of pros run Stihl cordless stuff that i know
I've had a go with stihls stuff mate. Foesnt come close to Husky I'm afraid. I have all stihl petrol driven tools but I owukdnt invest in their battery range. Just not levelling in my opinion.
I'm sure theyll work for a lot though.
old post so you may not read this.
I know lots of pros that use Stihl battery stuff too. They won't even consider that there are already many other brands that are sooooooo much better. Makita, Ego, Milwaukee etc. They are all better than Stihl battery tools. Stihl are literally the worst of the pro tools.
I completely agree with you. Unfortunately some people seem to have tunnel vision and only stick to Stihl. Many others out there like you said!
Thanks foe thr comment bro!
How come you stopped making the videos?
I've been searching. But can find how to grease the gears on the 520ihd60. Is there a screw like on the Stihl?
Hey Tim
I take off the 6 screws on the IHD60 and manually Place grease into the gearbox. If you get too much in the motor will struggle. Apply a bit at a time, replace the cover with 3 screws and give it a rev. If you feel you may need a little more just repeat. 😁
I was researching hedge trimmers and found your video series.
Glad I did. Whilst I was aware of rpm on line trimmers, meters per second on chainsaws, I never really thought about the speed (actually usually measured in strokes per minute rather than rpm) on hedge trimmers. I've recently started working for a tree surgeon and I'm doing a lot more hedging than I have in the past.
We are using the Stihl battery gear and yes........it's a bit sh**. I knew that anyway.
I have a bunch of EGO gear but I'm going to use various platforms I think. No point in getting stuck on one system just because you need to buy an extra battery.
They are consumables and wear out anyway. Chargers are virtually given away free with kits.
Rather than getting the ego, I think I'll get the new Makita 40v. They have several models in 600mm and 750mm with both a heavy-duty model (4000 strokes) and a lighter fine trimming model (5000 strokes). Seems Makita are stepping it up in the commercial game.
Here's a link to one of them

Makes a lot more sense to stick to a certain platform for the benefit of switching batteries between tools on a jobs IMO. I would imagine it's a pain having different make batteries and chargers.
Dont get the makita 18v hedge trimmer .
I have the duh601z and its knackered after less than 30 hours .
The bearings and the armature in the motor disintegrated .
Seems lots of people having trouble with makita hedge strimmers dying after light use
Ego is chinese owned operated built, pass.
Most things are nowadays lol
