- Join Jeff and his son Jeremy on a tour of the beautiful Texas State Capitol in Austin. Finished in 1888, the capitol is the largest of all state capitols and taller than the U.S. Capitol!
A number of presidents have visited the capitol as well as Queen Elizabeth of England.
Jeff will start out talking about the Governor's Mansion which is right across the street.

Makes you Proud to be a Texan.
All Texans should be proud…Great building.
We are proud! And right now we have a fantastic Governor!
@@whitedovetail 👏
Another good one, Jeff. And thanks to your "last" son for explaining SIX FLAGS.
I spent 14 years in Austin Texas. I loved being a delivery person downtown seeing all the people and buildings. I really miss it.
That is one beautiful and BIG state house. Thanks for featuring it!
Our pleasure! Thank you, Doug!
Proud of my state!
Texas is unique in it's many historic structures and the way they are identifying and preserving them.
They are worth preserving! So much history is being destroyed every year and it’s sad. Appreciate your comments, as always, Elwood!
What a magnificent Capitol!
That pink granite is beautiful.
I confess that I was awed when I stood on the mezzanine and looked up at the dome. Then awed again when I looked down at the six flags.
God bless Texas!
It’s so refreshing to watch these videos of your’s that highlight the history of this Great Nation instead of seeing people tear it apart.
I am a proud American, and I think we have a wonderful history. Not a perfect history, but great nations are born out of trials and tests.
I agree. This is one of the things that attracted me to History Hunters.
You are goin national! I've been there. God Bless Texas!
Definitely a magnificent structure.
This native Texas lady appreciates your video very much! ❤
Very nice! Thanks, Cathy! My stepmother is named Kathy but she spells it with a K. Blessings!
Your son is great. Love your impersonations Jeff!
Thanks! Jeremy will love the comment!
Jeff, you should be so proud of Jeremy. I didn't know were Six Flags theme park got its name but now thanks to son #3 I do. ❤
I visited Austin last summer and visited the Capitol building ! This building is absolutely beautiful !!!
I agree! One of the most beautiful I have visited!

Your son inherited your voice and speaking style. Neat!
Beautiful Capitol building. Thank you. ☮️💖🎶

@@jbenziggy Blessings to You,Sarah and Jeremy as well. I am a very proud American with 1/3rd Native American blood coursing through my veins.Happy New Year to You all!
Thank you for the excellent narrative Tour. I'm a native Texan born 1961 and yet to visit my state Capital. I've only visited the Battlefields to win our Independence. I will before my lifetime ends "Thank You" again from Carlos Almendarez Corpus Christi, Tx
Thanks for the visit, Lydia! We appreciate your comment!
A truly beautiful state capitol building.
As a True Texas born and raised I really loved this video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, Betty! Texas is such a huge state!
Thankyou Jeff for taking us to a place we may never get to see in person. You gave us a taste of its grandeur!
I am a 5th generation Austin, Texan whose ancestor fought at the Siege of Bexar. Thank you for showing the beauty of our capital. I have been inside many times over the years and am always awed at its beauty. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Austin.
Very cool! I had a great time in Austin. Such a beautiful city, but also a very large city. I don’t think I was expecting it to be that sprawled out.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m a Texan but now reside in Alabama. So proud to be a Texan. I’ve never been to the State Capital so I appreciate this video so much. Thank your son for the information too. Love every thing about Texas and all you can share with us
Thank you Jeff, Sarah and Jeremy.
Been there several times and have been fortunate enough to tour the U.S. Capitol as well.
Beautiful state capital.
Thank you for taking us along with you to the Texas State Capital!!!!! It was the only way that I would have been able to see it!!!
Gr8 Job Jeff and Sarah.
Thanks again Jeff , Jeremy for sharing some history of Texas, I see Dad got his clothes back, also Thanks to Sarah for holding down the fort in California
Happy Sunday Jeff! Great episode!
Another wonderful episode! Caught it as soon as I was notified.
All the best for the coming year.
Happy new year!
Really a beautiful building the capitol of Texas is.Thanks for sharing!
Very good coverage of our State Capitol. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome content!!! We LOVE Texas! Had to laugh when your son co-opted your video! That was a great history lesson (you’ve obviously had some influence there😉). Always enjoy Sundays watching! Your biggest Tennessee (formerly California) fans!
I have spent many hours watching your videos on Texas and elsewhere. You are a thorough researcher, and I cannot imagine how much time you spend on such as each grave site. I am a member of Ancestry for 15 years, and know how much time this might take. I also like the way your videos are arranged in time order, starting with the latest.
So happy to hear you have enjoyed our Texas videos! I hope to get back there!
Always loved Texas. In my line of work i got to experience many cultures, people, and landscapes. From the desert to the plains, to the seashore and beyond. However, if i wanted to ski, i had to go to NM.🙂 Great video Jeff, glad to hear the story about the 6 flags. No longer will i be "worried" about that name. I can rest easy now. Be blessed by the Best and never forget that Texas could be the 3rd largest state if Alaska ever decided to cut itself in half. Say howdy to your son.
Happy Sunday Jeff! Great episode! I too Caught it as soon as I was notified. All the best for the coming year to you and yours.
Somespectacular architecture. Nice to have a father/son vlog
Thanks Jeff and son for another great video. I especially enjoyed your impression of George W. Bush.
Welcome to Texas !
My mother and I were there in the early 90s but the building was closed. Thanks for the tour. My family were at the original Six Flags over Texas back in 1965. Lots of fun.
Thank you for taking us along
Our pleasure!!
Nice George W. impersonation. 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Ha ha ha! Thanks. That’s one of my quirky impersonations!
Many years ago tours were conducted up that spiral staircase to the highest part of the dome. The capitol actually has two domes. The one you look up to from the rotunda floor is the inner dome. The tour took us on a walkway that crossed over the top of the inner dome and between the outer and inner domes. It's too bad we can't do it now but prior to 911 we used the road through the capitol grounds as a shortcut without having to drive a block around it.
Good 👍 VIDEO 👍👍👍. Don’t forget to have a Lone Star Beer is the National Beer of Texas
Glad you talked about Marble Falls. I used to live there. However the inside of the building is made of limestone from Oak Hill. Rather than pay the going rate of 17 cents an hour, the state could lease prisoners out to contractors and pay them nothing. Legend has it that up to eight convicts died, either because of poor conditions or because they were shot during escape attempts. They were buried on the hill. Which is now named Convict Hill.
Stunning building and wow them monuments 💕❤️💕🇬🇧
Beautiful architecture.
We agree! Thanks for watching!
Another great way to end an evening. Thank you for bringing out the history. The monuments are beautiful. I hope nothing happens to the confederate monument that is history of our great nation and the state of Texas. And yes I agree with you the railing does not look high enough in the rotunda.
Thank you, Jeff. The Texas State Capitol is beautiful. I lived in Austin as a small boy. Dad was in military and we moved around often. Happy New Year to you and Sarah!
Thank you kind sir! You have a great new year as well! Bless you!
Thank you Jeff for the great history lesson. You and your son did an amazing job. Blessings.
Thank you kindly! We appreciate you spending part of your Sunday with us!!!
Thank you, Jeff (and your son, also, for acting as guide)...It's good to see the Texas Capitol again (my home state...born a good ways northwest of Austin, long ago). ....Welcome to Texas !!! You've been doing really good work there, in your last few vids. Thank you, from all of us.
Thank you so very much. My son was a great tour guide very much. Appreciate your comment being that you are a Texas native!
@@jbenziggy Great job of covering so much ground in so little time (video runtime). That's excellent editing !!!
Hi Jeff and Sarah thank you for sharing a wonderful history lesson of the Texas state capital. That is a amazing building and that was neat that your son got to speak with the speaker of the house blessings to you and your family Larry June and Laurie
Great history
Another great video!

That's beautiful, two of our daughters and their families live in Texas. We are thinking about moving from Albuquerque NM to Texas 💕🙏
Lots of folks are moving there!
That is a beautiful building.
Another great video! I really love Texas and all of its history. Thank you for taking us on the adventure.
Fantastic! You are appreciated, Pat!
I'm in the UK. I love history, and your tour was spot on. I'm pleased that you weren't allowed to go up any higher as I suffer from vertigo, even just watching these things.
The capitol building is fabulous and serves to belie the fact that anything and everything American is OTT. Unfussy decorations with sleek lines and a beautiful cream colour throughout not spoilt by overfilling. I like the way that the lone star under the cupola was mirrored by the lone star in its centre.
Fascinating, especially your son explaining the 6 flags.
I learned many new things about Texas from another one of your great videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
You're nearly to 100K Subscribers! And well-earned! On to 1 million--your content is exceptional!
7:51 Kudos to your son, for creating artwork that accurately reflects the history of the state of Texas. Perhaps if he'd ended it with the octopus holding a yellow rose--THAT would have closed the sale! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵
8:20 Your youngest son, Jeremy, is the national treasure of this episode: had no idea of the '6 Flags Over Texas' (and every Six Flags Theme Park, ever since) origin story. 8:55 Nice image to accompany the story, too. 11:57 And more Six Flags symbolism, on the floor beneath the dome. Shout out to Jeremy, for his attempt to climb those (under surveillance) stairs. HH viewers appreciate his effort!
9:22 Top Tier Dubya impression, too! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣9:25 And newsprint to wrap this up in: impressive!
I really do enjoy all the homework you do before you start recording!
Another fine show. Thanks. I always look forward to your Sunday postings.
Much appreciated! Thank you very much, Phil!
Definitely done on the grand scale beautiful buildings and grounds.
Thanks Jeff and Jeff's youngest son.
Central California watching.
Thanks again for the visit! I appreciate your comment, as always, Theo!
A magnificent building. Thanks for the tour!
Excellent Video. California state Capitol is spectacular also.
We agree about Sacramento! Thank you!
Very nice job. We enjoyed the history.

Thanks again Jeff and Sarah for another great episode and your hard work on this hope you have a wonderful week God bless you and Sarah and family
Thanks for your impersonation of the former President George W., it was an amazing duplication! Another fun trip , thanks for sharing with us.
Ha ha ha. I tried at the impersonation but not ready for the stage act! LOL
Great video, Jeff. My wife and I visited the Texas capitol last year, and we're amazed by the size and beauty of the building. I was a bit uncomfortable looking downward from the dome, also, but what a view.
I grew up in Texas and spent lots of time at the 6 flags amusement park. Awesome state!
Very cool!
Thank you, Jeff, for the video of our great Capitol. I was lucky enough to get to go all the way up the dome and yes it was scary. especially when you look down.
Wow! Quite the building! Thank You for another interesting video
Great video Jeff, I really look forward to Sunday to see what you've posted. As a retired trucker, I've been all over the country but the tours you take us on are always educational. Texas has always been one of my favorite states. Thank you so much for your efforts, fantastic job. Hey, 62 you're just a kid still. 👍👍👍👍
Jeff…..I ALWAYS look forward to Sunday mornings (before church), watching your videos. They just keep on getting better and better. ……Russell D.
Hi Sarah and Jeff, awesome video you did on this one. Excellent footage of showing us around there. Capital is bigger than I could ever imagine. But I am not good on heights. Like you said I get vertigo in fact I do suffer with it. But the capital is beautiful. Thankyou again for the time and effort that you put in to let us go with you, I enjoy you so much, take care and God bless 💯👍♥️🙋
I’ll add that site to my bucket list. Thank you Jeff….always informative and entertaining.
I really enjoy your Bush voice. He he he 😀
Thank you! 😃 set up as a kid. I always try to impersonate famous people including presidents like Nixon. Lol.

Glad you like them! Somebody earlier said they were tired of our Texas videos.
We never miss your videos. They are all so interesting. Thank you for taking us a long on your trip. Nice meeting your son also.
Thank you so much! Makes us proud!!!
Jeff, this was very informative, and interesting. That Capitol is one impressive building. WOW... The history behind "Six Flags" was new to me. See, we can always learn something from our children.🤠😉Thank you, for the research and legwork you undertake. We appreciate it.👏👏🤗y
Another GR8 HH vid!!! Thanks Jeff & Sarah!
Our pleasure! Thank you very much, Chris!
Thanks for the tour at the Texas State Capital.surprised there a Southern monument. Thanks for sharing Jeff .
I'm surprised it hasn't been torn down! But then again, don't mess with Texas!
Another great video full of history and interesting facts. Great job guys, I hope you had a wonderful trip.🫶👍👏
See you next Sunday!
The gorgeous Illinois State Capitol in Springfield is on par with the Texas State Capitol in terms of architecture, building materials, and craftmanship.
The inside of the Illinois State Capitol dome is so ornate, that it looks kind of like a kaleidoscope image.
The Illinois State Capitol is one of the state capitols that is taller than the U.S. Capitol.
The Illinois State Capitol is large, but not as large as the Texas State Capitol.
Really enjoy all of your videos.
Glad to hear it! Thanks Karen!
What a cool place!
Worked in the Capital from 1984-1997
Jeff thank you so much for giving us that wonderful tour. What a beautiful state house and the paintings that come with it are just magnificent. It was very interesting to see something so different than I've seen at some State houses. What a beautiful building. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks so much, Joel! Which state houses have you been to?
@@jbenziggy I have been to one when I was a boy in 1978 or 1980. I am from Michigan originally, and we had a field trip there. It was very ornate, and full of Historic Paintings and items that were from our past. We sort of got rushed, so I would have to go back to get more out of the tour. Jeff in the past the other State Houses I did virtual tours through the State Websites, Ohio, Nevada, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas. Kansas were I am now, also has a virtual tours through their website. I do plan on physically visiting some of these Capitols. Ohio, Texas, Nevada, Kansas are some I want to actually visit. I use to have a beautiful postcard from Texas that featured the State House.
A brief comment. I appreciate and enjoy the video. Cheers y’all.
Much appreciated! Thank you, Eric!
Almost a 100K subscribed...well deserved. Thank you for making this wonderful channel.
