the union must be taking a page from worstjets playbook - for the company to say its outraged by the union ignoring the government when worstjet's been thumbing its nose at the government and its passenger protection laws for years is a bit rich - no doubt the union has noticed the government is impotent and has done nothing to hold the airline accountable

Just shows airplanes don't fly with out AMEs signing them off as airworthy. Unions are much needed in the Aviation maintenance field. The forgotten AMEs that make less then car mechanics, heavy duty mechanics and other trades. But they have the knowledge on how to keep a +100million dollar life support machine in the air, safely.

Been there myself a long time ago. It was the last time i ever worked a unionized job... I refuse ever to be in a union ever again. The mechanics want to take action to force the issue but the union is not backing them. Back when this hapoened me, the whole factory of 800 people theew their union cards on the floor & walked out. We wanted a work to rule which succeeded in just 1/2 a day without the union.

certainly not the company the original boss stated, The company was just giving in one hand and taking back on the other so Self inflicted No pity, The federal government ordered the port workers back to work and as a result, their employer just sat on their butt and did nothing. Funny how things change when you got gov in your wallet.... just giving in one hand and taking back on the other so Self inflicted No pity, the govt didnt get an order they cant walk out sorry.. Re wages we hear stories of mechanics leaving airlines in Canada for other gigs that pay $10 more an hr and more.

I used to be a big Westjet supporter but they've lost their way.Stories of abandoning passengers and mishandled situations have deteriorated their image and reputation.I don't know if it's Westjet's own management or the Ownership/ board of directors at ONEX Corp. who own Westjet and Sunwing that are making these strategic and operational decisions. If I were flying within North America I would try Porter Airlines if they can accommodate your next travel schedule.I don't want to sound biased but I'm also no fan of Air Canada as they seem to think they're still a crown corporation of the federal government( 1970's and 1980's mentality of we can do no wrong and how dare you fly with someone else)which they no longer are.
