Maybe I’m just a weirdo, but I get more satisfaction building something I can use in my shop or something my wife will use for storage like that tote rack than I do building furniture and outdoor items for customers lol. Btw, I feel you on the humidity. I’m in the northeast Texas area, and this past week was nearly July and August level heat and humidity.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. I agree completely… Making things that I can repeatedly use or have some sort of functionality for us is definitely more enjoyable than the other things I produce out in my shop. Stay cool and God Bless Texas!
That’s right… This is a very easy build and it comes in super helpful if you put it on casters so you can roll it around.! Thanks for watching and I definitely appreciate you taking the time to comment 🤟🏼
Looks great. I built two 8 foot racks last summer for those totes. Should have waited until it cooled off, it was brutally hot but it was worth it they got the job done. Thanks for posting.
Hey… first person to mention they are from Hawaii so congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 I think it used 18 8 foot two by fours. $3 a piece… 54 bucks for the whole unit (minus the totes of course). 🤟🏼
@NuKraftWorkshop I just went and bought 18 2x4x8 and did the cuts. Not nearly enough wood, I'm going to need at least buy 7 more. Just heads up to all you builders.
@@NuKraftWorkshop I ran into the same issue and am going to buy 7 more. The cut breakdown is 10x 76 inches and 4 at 87 inches. That already puts you at 14 and only leaves you 4 to make 32 pieces at 32 inches. 4 only gets you 12. 25 2x4x8s is accurate I believe. Build is great otherwise! Fits my space perfectly! Thanks for your video!
Thank you I really appreciate it. I use sketchup… The free online version. Took a while to learn and I am still not where I want to be, but I’m getting better 🤟🏼
@NuKraftWorkshop thank you! I'm about to do a 10' iteration to hold 20 totes (5 horizontal x 4 tall) I'm using the 27 gallon totes from costco. I'm going to borrow most of your dimensions! So thanks for doing all the heavy lifting
@br4nsh4w just make sure you put a third set of casters in the middle or stabilize the entire cart with a sheet of plywood across the back. It will definitely definitely sag if you don’t do that
If you don’t make them mobile put a plastic deck board (Trex) spacers to stop moisture from the concrete absorbing into the wood. A square at the bottom of each upright would be all that is needed. Offer to take the scraps from deck builders the material cuts and shapes very well.
Deck contractors are awesome… Especially since I live close to the coast. Most everything on Galveston Island is built with Trex or some other composite… I even get lucky sometimes with hardwoods 👍🏼👍🏼
Hopefully in the next week there will be some plans available on my website. I have about six projects that should be up there and each will contain a cut list and detailed instructions for assembly.
Definitely could do that… However, these totes are holding up just fine the way they are resting and I would assume that no one is going to fill these things up more than we have 😂😂
With the 2x4 oriented on their sides, I would definitely add a set of casters in the middle to support the load. That said, I think the posters question was more oriented towards adding something to help fight side-to-side “racking”. While I wouldn’t say it’s 100% a necessity, I would add one board triangulated across the rear to add stability in this plane…it would definitely keep things more stable and only add a few minutes to the build. Great video and I’m sure many people will benefit from it.
@mattstegall I have a third pair of casters in the middle and I agree it wouldn’t hurt to stabilize a bit. Thank you for the suggestion and I appreciate the support!! 🤟🏼

Dude!!!! I NEED this in my Basement! PERFECT for all the Totes of Holiday Ornaments, etc.
It has made my wife happy… so there’s that 😂😂😂. Send me a picture to my Instagram if you build one !!
Hey Tim! Gonna be building this soon enough 👊🏼
You’ll be glad you did. I have put mine off for a while… But was convinced that now was the time 😂😂
I’ve watched several videos on this type of project but your is the best! Thanks so much. I will be making this.
Awesome… I’ll let all the other RUclipsrs know 😂😂😂
Seems very easy. I will build one very soon.

This build is awesome! My mom needs something like this
Most people do 😂. Thanks for watching
Awesome build
Thank you🤟🏼🤟🏼

Yeah I was sweating my ass off…😂. Wife wanted them done and so I got them done 👍🏼. Appreciate you watching and thanks for commenting
Great idea!
Thank you so much. 👍🏼
Highly recommend the Costco to higher quality material in the black plastic is more UV resistant
I agree… Some of ours are from Costco and some are from Home Depot and I do like the Costco ones better as well
Aloha Tim from Hawaii. How many 2X4's did you have to buy for this project? Did you buy 8 or 10 footers? Thanks for a great project

I am terribly sorry… Clearly my math was off. I appreciate you guys pointing that out!!!
Nice build! What is the software you are using to design everything?

Do you have a cut list. Thanks

Are the lips or edges strong enough to hold the weight of the container. Thanks for the videos, just found your channel today
Absolutely… and trust me, the wife has packed them pretty full 😂😂😂
With the extra height he used it would be easy enough to pocket hole a shelf in for the tote to rest on.
Definitely could do that… However, these totes are holding up just fine the way they are resting and I would assume that no one is going to fill these things up more than we have 😂😂
@@NuKraftWorkshop it is easy to make those heavier than they are comfortable to move. 👍🏻
This is true!!
Are cross supports needed at all?
You could if desired…. I put a third set of casters in the middle for extra support. Worked out just fine!

@@mattstegall Thank you for the response to my question. Going to start building it today as a gift for my son's garage. Excited to start!
Awesome… He’ll love it.
Hello, can I have the measurements/blueprints on this project. Please 😢
I am currently switching out my website and marketing company... all plans will be available soon. I apologize for the delay but I am working on it!!
