Is it really so daunting to try and make characters relatable or endearing without relying on making them from "Da Reel Wurld" in an attempt to make the Viewer Self-Insert?

I always love watching the animation as your elite soldier sticks his shotgun almost directly in an aliens mouth, then jerks it off to the right so he can miss like the dice said he should. What a champ.
As memey as xcom is people forget the game isn't existing in a turn based manner. The aliens aren't politely waiting for you to take your turn. Thats just how the game play is. Not to mention people only remember the shots they miss, not the ones that hit. So it's skewed to seem as though the game is broken, when the AI usually cheats in favor of the player.
That's because those % are a lie.
They do not account for the difficulty setting and other factors.
That 90% is for the lowest difficulty and no on screen or behind the scenes debuff.

For a bit more funny, there is a point you can take an insane amount of objects, drop them on a ledge, then thunderwave them off the ledge onto a dragon to completely murder it.

Larian wasn't actually angry at people for choosing human male characters. It was just the style of wry humor they like to use. Kotaku twisted their words to try to start drama.
Yea i thought that didn't sound right. That statistic also likely isn't even true at all because people mainly use what race is best for there class and human is not popular at all because it doesn't specialize in anything like the other races and on top of that they cant see in the dark at all.
And now 2 years later after this, Kotaku hates anything male.

The twitter post about that was full of people going "oh wow thank god my character isn't generic, here is a pic:" which were like 90% Tiefling deviantart looking asses. Not being human doesn't stop your character from also being a basic bitch.
On the same note I usually play as humans in my groups because no one else will, they're the most common race in Faerun after all.
