Fantantastic! I flew in and out of an airport with 1793 ft. plus displace threshold with a Piper Arrow and a TB- 20 . Kudos to you, make it look to easy!
Good job. While the Cherokee has less effective flaps than the C-172, the short high lift wings catch a higher percentage of prop blast than does the longer Cessna wings with less camber. Deceleration on short final to sink enough to bring the throttle into dynamic play is effective. We can nail glide angle and rate of descent with dynamic throttle. Also we can use apparent the increase in the apparent rate of closure with the numbers to nail it by keeping that apparent rate as slow as it appears farther from the numbers. Thus we touch down well below Vso, an out of ground effect number, early on the runway rather than bleed off airspeed well down the runway. Good job.
Great job! I used to frequent this airport in the late 60s to mid-70s (C-140 and C-172). It wasn't private/restricted then and it was entertaining to watch "out-of-towners" make 2 or 3 go-arounds and then give up.
Nice. Have you tried a steeper approach angle there, and slipping? I used to do a lot of them when I had a PA140 for short strips. Interestingly, seems it was easier to slip the Cherokee than the Champs, Funks, Tcrafts, Avid Flyer I've had since.
@@johnschneider4160 Dan Gryder is only for Mild Maneuvering and againts all kind of slow flights, steep turns, slow landing competitions, high speed competitions, no banks over 30 degree under 2,500 agl, no turns if engine fail on take off even if partial only and TPA. Dont turn, crash straight ahead.. School bus? Van with 4 kids ahead? Hit it crash on top of it. LOL. He is a mild maneuvering anti turning wacko. We are not 5 hour students that cannot do Vglide turns if needed.
Nerves of Steel? Pilot would probably deny it but I could barely even watch the video! Excellent++ job of finesse on the landing but that engine needs to be perfect in the pattern! Living in the area, that looks very much like Lake Wohlford (Ca.), likely an undocumented strip for the resort.
Yep. I'm a retired airline pilot, and current CFI, and know the drill :) But with no airport name or ID in the video, one can't look up the field on AirNav. Amazing what fields have viz guidance, and don't, both private and public use. Ex The tiny field I learned on decades ago in NJ, had viz guidance. But Culebra, Puerto Rico has none, even though it has commercial flights. A small runway, squeezed in between a hill and bay. If one's "lucky", one can see a wreck or two on the hill on short final, during the required sharp turn at under 200 feet AGL. @@jagitmax
Can’t do that. The approach requires a 65 knot turn at most, which means I don’t really have the energy to square it off safely. Better to do a gentle bank.
What I love about your videos....no stupid music..just flying and listening to the engine and the wind. Wish I could hear your radio calls,
Why would there be radio calls? Uncontrolled field! Nobody in the pattern

That's a REAL instrument panel... love it!
I based my first airplane, a Cessna 182, at this airport. I have been in and out of the Lake Wohlford airport many times.
Excellent approach and you had some runway left!

Nicely done. Love the vids with raw sound.
Used to use this airport to demonstrate the landing capabilities of the Helio Courier. Fun place!
Nice approach and landing. Great job!
Nice job. I though you managed your descent rate, power, and track very well. Good approaches make good landings.
Nice stabilised approach.....nice flying....nice safe landing......love it..!!
This would be a fun airport to land at. I like flying the Cherokee, great view when turning base.
Excellent airspeed control. That needle barely moved throughout the approach.
Flaps dumped on touchdown, well done
Nice job Matt.
Fun little private airport. Dick Martin flew his Cessna 195 out of there for years. Also a Bonanza based there. Remember it is a private airport!
Nice job sticking it in at Lake Wolford, a tight little airport.
It looked tight, but he sure stuck it in there…
Piper Warriors are amazing little birds. Fly the numbers and you can stop at amazing short numbers.
Hold that power in right at the beginning of the runway at chop off the power!!! Great job
Legend has it that this plane is still there!
That was a very shallow approach angle. With my constant speed prop in low pitch I would have flown a much steeper and slower approach.

Thanks for the suggestion and b.s. Dan Gryder, but there is already an adequate pilot in command.

Nice,, you demonstrate total control
great job thanks terrific landing great wow
Way cool. Where's this at?
Excellent

Where is the airfield? ICAO?
Great job. Fly safe.
Landing distances are often about half the takeoff distances in small recips... so really, it's not the landing that's extreme, but the takeoff.
Crazy how realistic FS2020 looks these days!
🤣
Excellent video, new friend here
Place looks pretty sporty !!
Nicely done! ✔️
Perfect landing.
Hmm...I might of missed it, or it didn't show on the video.
Didn't see a VASI or PAPI during short final.
Airport name or code please?
Very rare to get those at private or small strips 👍
An air strip like this isn't going to have either of those , a real pilot already knows that, D.A.
Yep.

Lake Wohlford Resort, a private airport in San Diego County, NW of Escondido
I think you forgot to mention which airport in which country...
Name of the airport?
Good flight!
Lake Wohlford airport, just north of Escondido CA?
Yup
Nicely done, Captain.
Which airport is this? ICAO?
Very smooth….👍
At least his controls didn't quite working on final, like MSFS 2020 does.
Great Job!! 👍
NIce! Well done
Damn. Catalina is 3000 feet. This is less than half that.
Beautiful!🙋🏼♀️
Dragging it in are we?!?!
What's the airport identifier code?
8CL1
This is a good pilot
Nice job!!!
Looks like a normal landing to me!
Great landing
Well done.
great pilot!!!
Why tf did youtube put this video under GAMING?
Please put the identifiers in so we can pretend in MSFS 😁
Look around the comments, it’s 8CL1
Suuuuper! 😊
If that didnt make you pucker up i will eat my hat!
For a second I thought it was actually called “Cherokee Extreme Airport” ….. such a proud moment
Way past my skill level in my Archer.
I know this aitport! South California!
No problem
Ice job!
I would have squared up the base a little more. Look for other traffic before turning final.
Can’t do that. The approach requires a 65 knot turn at most, which means I don’t really have the energy to square it off safely. Better to do a gentle bank.
Can’t imagine much additional traffic that you couldn’t hear or see in the pattern.
Extreme Huh ok .
