I know you are going to travel, but when my parents retired I left my dog at their house when I went to work in the morning. They say now that being a dog carer during daytime improved their health and well being. They had to take regular walks and gave my dog lots of love. And my dog gave them lots of love back.

AS I watched your video today, ( we are both 84 and married 62 years, ) it brought me back, almost 20 years ago, when my Moosie and I were about to retire….and wondering what we would do and how it might be different !! We also are a close family of 6 children, 20 grandchildren and 11 great grands…..No surprise !! Our lives have NOT changed much…and only became more enriched as the “retirement” years rolled on…yes…we enjoyed our cruises, long weekends away alone, road trips and gardening….but the biggest joys were, and still are, times with our ever-growing family !! We have planned and executed family trips to Ireland , Big Bear. Lake Tahoe, etc ( yes 30 + of us with teens, babies, guitars and strollers) and Holidays are magical ! I am still wondering if I’ll ever get organized and start purging but that’s ok! We love life with gratitude ‘and thank God He has let us live this long to enjoy all these wonderful people! So, happy retirement, Jennifer and Chad…enjoy your blessings…. ….and retirement..it might not change much….only get better and better. Hugs, Nanny and Moose ❤️❤️

Looking forward to seeing what you will be doing over the next few months! My Grandmother had retired at 72 back in the mid 1970’s. She went out with friends, traveled, joined the senior citizens where they did lots of cool crafts…. The best advice is to keep busy.

Good luck with your future plans and things that are not planned. We are 20 years retired and each day is different and sometimes a challenge.
Been retired for 9 years; since recovering from cancer. I keep myself busy doing anything and everything that keeps me interested indoors and outdoors. Always wondered, when I was working, how I got things done in the evenings and on weekends. Now I don't have to rush to do it all. Days seem to flow one after the other. My advice? My husband John does the same thing! He’s up at 5am & has his coffee then goes back to bed till 10am. Our dog Chloe follows him back to bed! I laugh I’m up at 8am. I , take my am walk, then have my coffee. I usually see John and the dog around 10am. We purged things too! Very cleansing for the soul! It was awesome getting rid of all the things we no longer needed like our supply of winter clothes. Admittedly, we did keep a few coats, scarves and boots for trips to see the kids in Atlanta. Winters are chilly there. Yes, it was so exhilarating for us. I remember I went to toss a pair of shoes of my husbands that he wore 20+ years ago. He got mad & put them back in the closet. I just had to laugh. Enjoy your new life together! Yes each day now is a holiday that was well earned over the years by you! Have fun you 2!

My husband and I are your ages, He retired at 60. We took several RV trips in the beginning just to get to know each other again. We’re at the point now, where we make sure we have a few hours here and there just to do our own thing. It all works out, and you learn how much you really love each other. Visit Florida,, we live there.
I watch you because you truly have the relationship I would love to have. I didn’t grow up with the best influences or was taught the basic life skills for adulthood. I love to watch you and your family. 💜✨
Enjoy each other during your retirement. Don't focus on what you no longer make financially. My dad made very good money before retirement and had money, but it still bothered him that he was not bringing in what he use to. He was retired for 8.5 years with worry. He passed away in 2021 from covid. Bottom line, have fun and enjoy your next stage. ❤

I really enjoy your videos. Just an idea, but how about doing a video on estate planning? What’s the difference between a Will and a Trust? This can be a hard subject for some to talk about, but it is a very important part of retirement. Happy retirement Chad, and enjoy all this trips you have planned❤️

This happened to me I’m 62. I have cleaned out and given away so much . I just want to have much less .. I had to clean out my parents house and they come from the depression era and got rid of nothing so I’m hoping to make it easier for my children. It was so hard .. enjoy your retirement!

My parents retired and they love having some sort of routine, not exactly doing work, but having something to achieve each month and something to look forward to (not always joint projects). Perhaps remembering that you're still individuals with your own interests and you don't have to do everything together all the time too. Honest communication to prevent any resentments etc. Giving each other space and having date nights. Looking forward to following your journey as usual!

So cute! I retired in March of 2021, and I told one of my girlfriends from church that my goal was to get at least 3 things done a day! LOL! She reminded me of that yesterday and asked me how that was going? Well, I laughed and told her that was mighty ambitions of me! I might get at least one thing accomplished! It was hard for me to understand that I don't need to get it all done today! I'm not returning to work on Monday. I do like the much slower pace of the days. I do have things to do outside the house that I like. Activities at church and being with my sister and Mother. My David is still working 3 days a week at the golf course but I call that his social club that he gets paid for! and he golfs at least once a week with his buddies! I look forward to watching what unfolds in your lives!
My husband retired 7 months ago and says he has loved every minute of it! He says everyday is like a Saturday! I was a little worried that he’d have trouble adjusting to retirement, because he’s worked since he was 14 yrs old but, he has settled right into it. We’ve traveled a lot and have done several home projects that have kept us both busy. Already lots of travel plans for this year!
My husband ( in preparation for retirement) bought a small farm like a homestead, he now has some animals, a beautiful landscaped scenery, all kinds of veggies etc.. we used to go a lot until COVID happen, he goes to look after it etc every so often, we have still yet to visit it as in nearby city but restrictions for COVID checks all the time made it very difficult.

It really is important to get our things in order when we have our health. It is for our peace of mind, for our spouse, and our children. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Last year I was in an auto accident. When I was off from work at the beginning of Covid, I went through all my files. It was a week’s project, because I had papers going back to 1973 when we got married. Now my family should be able to find everything if I am unable to do the bookwork. I am also working on decluttering. The kids can have some things if they want, and the rest is going to Goodwill. As far as retirement goes, I think you still need physical activity and mental stimulation. Looking forward to seeing how you do retirement!

The only advice I can give to you both is give each other space. My husband wanted to go everywhere with me and he is one pain in the butt at the grocery store. And he started asking me why do I do this and why don't I do this, Drove me nuts. If you are used to getting up at 5 continue or change it to 6 , and do chores or something like you had to go to work, still have a lunch time and supper time, In others words keep up a routine and be open about how you feel with the changes.,

I really respect your opinion and ideas and I am moving out of my parents home and into my first apartment in two weeks. I was wondering if you would consider doing a video about the essentials you need for your first home. I’m thinking kitchen supplies, food staples, cleaning gadgets, etc. I am a young viewer and I feel that a lot of your young viewers would really benefit from this video! If you don’t have time and just simply don’t think it is a good fit for your channel I completely understand! I just wanted to make the request because I think it would help a lot of people who really value your opinion! Regardless, thank you for your amazing content! My grandma passed away when I was very young and my mom isn’t much of a cook so I use your videos all the time and I have learned so much about cooking from you! Hubby retired January 2020. We moved from a high cost of living west coast city back to the South where the cost of living is less. It helped us a lot. We travel a lot as well. We spent from late October to early December on an RV trip. We are traveling while we can. So much to see/do.
I remember when Dad retired, mom told him (jokingly) not to come home for lunch. 😜

(Edited to add:Hubby is enjoying free tuition at the local community college. I become eligible for that in the Fall. Check to see if that benefit is available. Also, many states offer property tax discounts if you're over a certain age, or they may "freeze" your property tax. )

I had to retire early in 2013, due to a medical issue, and I wasn’t ready for it, mentally or financially. I loved my career and it was very hard to leave. It took me a couple years to finally settle in, and I’m loving my life now! I’m busier than I ever thought I’d be; I got into yard work which was something I detested previously!! I still get up super early, anywhere between 4:00-4:30 am every morning!! You are still in the early stage of adjusting, but you prepared for retirement so you’ll be fine. You two are such a wonderful team, and you are going to love your “new life”!! I wish you all the fun and carefree times you can manage, and I’m looking forward to going along with you!! ❤️

Jennifer and Chad . I am 65 next. I am at the time when I should be downsizing myself. I never like to get rid of anything so I find it hard. I have a few things from my grandmother in uk and mother. My late husband military colonel uniforms. Kitchen items . I do recommend for your health look after your teeth. 8 years ago all my teeth were Porcelain veneered. I get them cleaned every 4 months and the dentist checks them and X-RAY also. I loved having my late husband home with me also. But now it’s time to downsize so much to do you don’t realize it creeps up on you. God Bless Chad & Jennifer 💖💜💖💜

My parents like to travel! They have a house in Florida and spend February-April Down there and a month in the fall! They have their mail forwarded to my house and I play secretary for them! They also have a lake house up in Wisconsin and in the summer will be up there every other week!
