The thing I don't get is how there was no one at Fox with an iota of math or statistical knowledge to debunk the garbage that Dick Morris was spewing. "Republicans are being under polled in Florida by a factor of 8, so Romney will win by seven points."Even assuming that all these extra republicans that he's adding to the survey vote for Obama (he admits that at least 10% won't) you have to add those extra imaginary voters to the numerator and denominator. That would result in a smaller increase.

Dick Morris was incorrect because he used historical models to predict a Romney win. The problem was that the model changed. The same model that elected Obama the first time also elected Obama the second time. Looking at this model in a historical context, it appeared to be a one off fluke the first time it carried Obama to a win and it was reasonable to assume that it would not repeat for a second election cycle. What Dick Morris and others like him saw as a fluke one off occurrence was actually a real change in the electorate. The country has shifted to the left and it took 2 election cycles for the Republicans to finally see this.

As soon as you just give up looking, in total despair and disgust, they stop counting you and the UE rate goes DOWN! Irrespective of ANY job creation! Dems now use this drop to clap wildly about "things moving in the right direction", when in fact, the truth is we are a just awful and dire path of hopelessness under this president.

The presidential election results in Ohio were close: According to still-unofficial figures from the Secretary of State, Barack Obama won the state with 2,690,841 votes to Mitt Romney's 2,583,582 votes - a winning margin of 107,259 votes for the president. In percentage terms, that is 50.18 percent of the vote for Obama, and 48.18 percent for Romney.

Thank you for agreeing about Foodstamps. The reason it is a touchy subject is that, once people become acclimated to receiving Free Money and Free Stuff, they go ballistic if anyone suggests winding it back. They expect it, and in fact demand it. It is the same thing with all the other entitlement programs too. It becomes impossible to ever retrench this wild spending. As for the image of Obama pushing 100's of billions in freebies, it is a fact. Known as Wealth Redistribution.

    2) companies to locate near the "poorer communities" is a pure Fascism, frankly unworthy of a response. As for public education, we already have hundreds of $Billions being spent on that, plus uncountable $Billions from all the state Lotteries. There is plenty of proof that more expenditure does not equal better education. Better parenting would do far more than more spending. We all know that Obama's looming confiscatory tax increases will accomplish nothing in the face of the [Cont'd]

Housing prices has been a complete disaster every year under this president. To say prices are now rising puts a rosy light onto a bad situation. And the 30 mo's and 4.5million jobs added is also misleading, considering the net job loss under Obama. With the dire effects of his healthcare only beginning to be felt, we can expect tremendous pressure on employers from now on. This is the slowest, weakest "recovery" ever experienced. And why not? Considering all his actions tend to kill jobs.

The real story is that the Tea Party existed before and was indeed about taxes mostly. They were joined by two groups. Folks like yourself joined about the bailouts. Others joined about the lack of criminal cases being brought against the wallstreet folks that caused the mess. This was the rank and file. If, however, you look at who was paying for the buses etc a few months later, you find that it is the same wallstreet crooks that caused the mess. They had turned it into a distraction.

Taxes in China are actually very high. If you buy a soda, there is a good chance that it came from a government run or joint enterprise company. The same goes for a lot of things you may buy every day. Corporate taxes only appear low over there if you don't consider the fact that they take a lot of your IP and copy it. The anti-suicide nets on the tall buildings explains more than the tax rates do. Slave labor is lower cost.

Not a question of CEOs acting childishly to "get even". They want to succeed & expand which creates jobs. Many co's have thin profit margins. More layers of bureaucracy and regulations (which requires hiring more expensive CPA's and lawyers) to deal with it, hurts profits and can result in workers fired to cover costs. Typical of the unintended consequences of big gov't. There's a clear balance between job creation and ability to pay for them. Just a fact of economics: Raise taxes, kill jobs.

The "meta polls" got it just about exactly right. They took the polls and adjusted for the expected error caused by weak methodology. This suggests that the folks doing the polls could have done the same math themselves and cleaned up their estimates a lot even with the bad sampling.
Dick Morris was basically saying that folks were not correctly reporting the size of iceberg the Titanic hit and thus he didn't believe it was going down. Wishful thinking at work I think.

That's what it has always been, and what it will always be. There's no reason to toss hypothetical events at this formula. It's what it is.

(to pick winners and losers) is ridiculous and devastating. The markets will create such opportunities for real, when markets are ready to support it. Meanwhile, his way creates only huge losses for the taxpayer, and further delays any hope of real progress. Traditionally, a recession ends in about 18 months.
