  • How to install a floating vanity. A floating vanity is has some unique installation requirements because it hangs on the wall. A floating vanity cabinet replaces a traditional vanity but allows you access underneath the cabinet as it is supported on the wall. If i shim the vanity there will be large gap and i dont want to fill the large gap with Caulking. Yes! I used an adhesive silicone so I would have to cut through that to separate them. You probably have the same thing (or something similar). You will need to disconnect the faucet/supply lines and drain and it will lift right off. You could also see if a resurfacing company can resurface the top to avoid this.

    Why didn't you use lag screws to support the sink?

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  3 года назад +2

      A couple of reasons. First, the sink top is an integrated bowl that was made specifically to sit directly on top of the vanity with caulk (I used adhesive caulk). It has no holes in back to screw into. Second, the cleat that supports the vanity is secured into studs with manufacturer supplied screws. Third the directions didn't call for it. I suppose you could have used lag bolts in the cleat-it would have been overkill but would have worked fine.

    • @MikeKlimek
      @MikeKlimek  3 года назад

      @@jessesandwich I would screw into the wall framing behind the lath/plaster. A stud sensor won't help you so you can try measuring from the corner and using an educated guess. The ledger board (french cleat) can be moved wherever is convenient and you can screw into any length of the cleat/board. You can also use toggle bolts but make sure they are long enough to get behind the lath and plaster. You can use a masonry bit for the hole. Hope this helps!
