Schlager's strokes are a thing of beauty. So low and deep. What a pleasure to watch.

To me, he looks very stiff. For me its more his effectivness and placement.

Schalger showed why he is one of the best, he has all the strokes (even though some are kinf of unorthodox) , the serves, and the actitude, even though I think his happy/choo poses were a little bit extreme xD

Schlager is the most skilled tt player ever. If he plays cautiously, he can handle any difficult position on the table!

When you watch Samsonov`s Manchester`97 vids you see than Vladi had tremendous power on forehand. That was 38mm ball, of course. But before the ban even with 40mm his counterloop was deadly.
Now they block it with ease, it poses no threat.

You cant tell where it is going until the moment the ball leaves his bat.. that makes his backhand so powerful, together with power and accuracy.

There are so many players who struggle against schlager. And now I see why, his serves are a set up for his big topspins, and his strokes are emaqulate. 5* : D

yeah I find that really weird that samsonov isn't doing better after the glue ban. I mean his game isn't about power but about technique. So I always assumed that he would do a lot better after the ban.

  • @DocCouz

The best things is that Schlager and Samsonov have a lot of respect each other. Table tennis is a gentlemen sport, and I don't found this state of mind in the chinese behaviour.

    superb match.
it's true that the glue ban has killed samsonovs game.
both have quite similar playing styles but schlager is just that bit smarter than samsonov. that's why he won.
    great match 5 stars

  • @fraer111

Looks like he's got a new blade (see 6:29), it's not his old "Mazunov OFF+" with handle of "Samsonov Alpha". But it doesn't make things better for him. His topspin lost its power. The glue-ban killed his play, IMHO

Техника а Шлагера безумно кривая , но он невероятно быстр и точен - парадокс

    • @ingullar

+Vladimir Monomah Да вообще непонятно - как он с постоянно занесёнными вперёд ногами в стол попадал!

    • @vladimirmonomah315
      @vladimirmonomah315 8 лет назад

Hmm, no slowmo of schlager's serve. From a cupped hand and throwing the ball backward; it is sooo illegal.
