Got 2 old forester birthday bourbons for $207 out the door each. Walked into Kroger in Lexington at the same time a rep was walking in with a case. They let me buy 2…. Opened one same day. Best birthday bourbon release ever.
@@whiskey_weather yeah, I was hyped… crazy thing is, I literally went to the same kroger this morning. Got 2 stagg 24A at $52 each. If you could post pics on here, I’d show receipts lol… but yeah, it’s a little honey hole.
The prices of some of these bottles are just not worth it in my opinion. I'm getting buyer fatigue and don't care about the 'fear of missing out' anymore. I don't care about hunting allocated stuff and would never pay secondary prices on anything. I've only been into bourbon about two years now and already have enough to last me a couple of years at the rate I'm drinking it. The only two reasonably priced bottles on this list is the Wild Turkey and the Pursuit. There is other stuff I could be spending my money on in this economy.
Agree with you on the fatigue and the secondary thoughts. Never pay secondary, I’d rather find it and pay MSRP. The ECBP is one of the best deals in bourbon IMO. $70 for a 12+ barrel proof is really hard to find. Even KC12 is only 100proof, cheers @opj5791 appreciate you watching and commenting! 👊🏽🥃
Agree. There are diminishing returns on bottles over $100. And from what distributors are telling me is market growth has stopped and customers are moving downward in price in what they are willing to spend.
Thanks for the shoutout Brandon! There are two bottles I'm hunting for this Fall: 1) Woodinville 8 Year and 2) Ben Holladay Ancient Cave Collection Spiral Cut. But from your list, King of Kentucky would be a welcome addition.
I haven’t had anything from Woodinville yet but I have heard great things! And youve been after that Ancient Cave all year! Haha and KoK would be a great find! Cheers Mike!
Buffalo Trace should be ashamed at what they've done to Blanton's. A $25 Bourbon in an $80 package now. It's a shadow of what it used to be and completely lacks quality right now.
@jdmurse88 Understood, I do not mean to belittle you or anyone else for buying Blanton's. I just have personal experience that it used to be so much better. Right now - and Buffalo Trace is a completely opaque company and will not reveal anything about their whiskeys - Blantons is 4 years old, and I've heard information that BT insiders i.e. employees say that they use both mashbills 1 and 2, and some of the barrels are coming from Barton. In Illinois where I am, it is $80 retail.
Grabbed the Old Elk a couple of days ago and will break it out this weekend. Other folks that I trust have really liked it, so excited for that. On another note, when folks say "just sitting on the shelf" to me that says WAY more about who's out hunting bourbon and nothing about the actual quality of the bourbon. I heard three dudes come into the store I was in yesterday (buying scotch actually as there is more to life than just bourbon) and ask if anything allocated came in. Upon hearing "no", they just turned and fled.
@@whiskey_weather I love peat, so my go to Scotch these days is the Ardbeg Uigeadail (but honestly, I like everything Ardbeg makes). The Lagavulin 16 is also a standarfd pour at my house.
You're chasing bourbon is about like chasing something down a 🐰 hole, I'll probably never pay the big bux 4 Blantons or the like, wish I could afford Old Rip Van Winkle, try instead Old Tarr Manchester reserve @ 115 prf-- fantastic whiskey , imo!!
@@badgerdmsYeah, 1 of my all-time go to is Lag. 8 yrs. Good stuff, can't go wrong with Classic Laddie-- and sherry casks like Glenallachie and MacAllan!
Old Grand Dad has a 16 year they are releasing at Beam as well too along with the Bookers Reserve and Little Book Infinite. Just saw one of the Barreled and Boxed bottles coming out is a Worcestershire cask finished. Definitely one of the most confusing finishes I’ve heard of from a major distillery.
I'm planning to look for ECBP and Larceny C9s but I probably won't find them. I might be able to find Larceny but ECBP is always impossible for me to find.
Great Video!!! My question is will you be at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival???? I will be there with my wife. Do you have any pointes for newbees as this our first time at the festival. The bottle I would most like to get is the Four Roses or Parker's Heritage. I hope I see you at the festival if you're there.

Great list to look out for and highly doubt I'll get any. That Wild Turkey 8 yr would be something to have, but I can see that being overly priced. Great content and cheers! 🤙
I was very , VERY lucky last week and found a bottle of Bookers reserve. I thought it was just another Bookers.. but the manager said out of 7 stores they only received that one bottle. 🙏🙏🙏
