  • In this video, you'll learn how to port TWRP recovery to A/B partitioned Android devices that do not have a recovery.img file and a recovery partition. This guide is meant for devices running Android 10 and 11, however, if you have devices running older OS versions like Android 8 and 9 that do not have a recovery partition, you can also use this twrp porting guide to port twrp for your device.

    Hello @Techsbyte , thank you for this method. My device Blackview BV8800 uses an mtk processor and does not have a recovery.img too! But the question I now have for you, in your blog article, you say to flash with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", but we can both agree that we are talking about devices without recovery partitions here? So shouldn't the final flash command instead be: "fastboot flash boot new-boot.img" ?

    Hello sir, thankyou for making this tutorial. I tried to apply every steps from your tutorial, but when unpacking the boot.img it just says fail, reason is header version 4 ( unsupported). Do you have any solutions?

    I’m on a Samsung Tab S7+ with a Snapdragon. Will this work for my device? I can’t find a TWRP with my resolution. Can I use any recovery image or does it have to be the same as my resolution?

    thanks for the tutorial. im using infinix note 10 pro, there's already twrp port for my device but its not working for the latest firmware. so i try this tutorial but when i boot to twrp it stuck on twrp logo but booting to home screen working fine. any solution sir?

    My Tecno spark 6 go so it's will work? My ab only partition and twrp never works in recovery almost bricked so using boot img this will work?

      Does your device have a recovery partition? If it does. Then you should use the recovery method I explained in the first video. But if it doesn't have a recovery partition, you can use this guide. However, I can't guarantee a 100% that it'll work since I didn't try it on all device but a few a10 and a12 devices. But you never know if it'll work if you don't try.

    I have ViVo V15 but it's not mounting system in port twrp and unable to flash magisk. Its MTk6771 chipset. I tried all methods possible. GSI also can't boot.

      Did you already try formatting the data partition after booting TWRP? As for the GSI not booting, are you sure you're flashing the correct GSI img on your device?

      @@thetechsbyte yes used treble info it's a SAR device and suggested GSI with arm64-ab I tried formatting and flashing different GSI but none worked and for magisk it seems it's Kernel restrictions as per GitHub. There's vivo-magisk-suu that works but gives root as suu and many apps can't use it overall It seems this device is useless. Only some people are able to reverse engineer theirs to make magisk work.

    Any help? I know my phone is A/B because I flashed a phhtreble GSI and it works and the phone has unofficial TWRP but it is very unreliable. When I unpacked my CUBOT NOTE 7's stock boot.img I only got these files in ramdisk:
    .backup
    apex
    avb
    debug_ramdisk
    dev
    mnt
    overlay.d
    proc
    sys
    fstab.mt6735 (file)
    init (file)

    hello sir, where do you get that twrp 3.6.0.img ? do we need to take the same thing in ur vid or the one that capable for our devices ? what if the .img that must be same for our devices still did not exists ?

      I haven't tested on the Dimensity chipset but it should work. Also, I have updated the download page, you will find a link with a TWRP for the Dimensity 810 chipset. Don't forget to take a backup before testing.

      @@gammlerjoe1446 Not sure. Try porting a different recovery (PBRP, SHRP or OFRP) of the same device and see if the issue doesn't persist.

      @@thetechsbyte I mean when I'm gonna try to flash twrp via bugjaeger cause I don't have pc then it's give up an error which is A/B partition error so how can I flash twrp via bugjaeger people says it's have different CMD for A\B partition devices pls suggest something if you don't mind ?

      Image sizes can change after modifications. It's nothing to worry about as long as you haven't removed any important file, it should work fine.

      Make sure you haven't deleted any file from the carliv image kitchen folder. It should run without any problems. You can try extracting the original zip or rar file again and retry.

      @@louweeyt506 The cygwin link in the description is for the latest version... doubt that's the issue... You should probably try running the program on another PC to confirm this.

      @@anirudhajoshi6636 You mean does the Infinix note folder contain a boot.img file? If yes, then, it does. You can get your device boot.img file from the factory/stock firmware.
