    By far, the best episode on your YT channel as it is on a sensitive topic and the portrayal of the stamp concerned has given due measure and justice for the reason of it's issue. A friend has recently sent me this stamp along with a matching postcard from Ukraine, and I am eagerly look forward to the same. Like you did mention, such stamps get stolen in transit, she had taken due care too not to send it commercially used.

    Thank you for doing this video Graham! I love those two covers you were so privileged to receive. I am very envious in particular of the one with the different versions of the Snake Island stamps with the underground cinderella. When the war started on February the 24th, I felt very helpless. Putin was obviously trying to erase the Ukrainian identity and culture. I decided to do my very tiny bit to help keep the Ukrainian identity alive. I decided to add Ukraine to the very small number of countries and topics I collect. Futhermore, I decided to buy all my stamps directly from Ukrainianian sellers. I thought that sending money their way in these difficult times would be a way to help out. The shipping delays are understandably long, but I still find it amazing that those brave Ukrainians keep carrying on as best they can to earn a living by sharing their pround country's rich culture. One thing I was happy to discover with my new collection is that Ukraine really uses their philately to promote their own culture and history. You won't find Disney characters or other popular pop culture icons from other countries on their stamps. And the number of stamps they issue on an annual basis is still quite manageable to collect on a reasonable budget.

    Graham, your warning about fake versions needs this additional info: Ukraine has the W and F for international and domestic use, but there are also *personal* stamps with a V ('Vlasna marka'). People have made personal stamps with the exact same image. These are postally valid, but many collectors will not consider these 'the real thing'.

    • @andriy3863
      @andriy3863 2 года назад +2

      In Ukraine we have different value of the stamps marked with different letters. Before 2022 we use to have V as one of the latter's used for internal postage, but after RuZZians used it on tanks along side Z, decision has been made to replace V with F nomination.

    Groh is a fantastic artist. To be honest, I wasn't really blown away by the execution of that subject he won the contest with. But, looking at his page, he's really outstanding. I'm tempted to purchase a poster for hanging.

      Awesome, I hope that the FDC arrives soon!! Ive seen the signed copies online going for thousands of dollars, I bet those are going to be highly desirable for collectors into the future (both philatelic and just general history collectors of Ukraine).

      @@ExploringStamps I'm sure the signed versions will be. I should have grabbed one when I saw initially in the 300.00 range. The price spike will cool and prob settle somewhere closer to the purchase price; but alas, I missed that boat. (No pun intended).

    Thanks for the video. Another risk for receiving these covers (and cachets) is simple negligence from postal employees. I paid for one by a guy who makes nice covers and it looked good. Unfortunately some postal employee affixed a meter strip right over the solder's head and finger that was part of the design on the envelope. I removed it but it peeled off some of the design --- fortunately NOT the soldier and his finger. Still worth keeping in my collection as a historical/philatelic item but a shame it was damaged by postal negligence.
    PS Sent you two pieces of mail --- another addition to your avalanche you receive. But both have some philatelically interesting things. You may enjoy the postcard for its use of vintage and modern 3 cent stamps as postage and the other was a gift of a Icelandic stamp souvenir sheet. Finally shot you an email about the Clifton NJ Stamp Shoe which is, interestingly , sponsored in part by the town of Clifton.

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  2 года назад +1

      Oh no I didn't think of that!! ugh I can imagine the disappointment when you received it, BUT thankfully your stamp is ok? The cover is totally still worth keeping and a wonderful item for your collection, I'm sure.
      Ill have to dig through my mail / email, I'm sooo far behind at the moment. 💀

      @@ExploringStamps No worries - the stamp is fine and I get the most important part of the design the soldier giving the finger to the warship.
      If anything to consider checking out and even consider for a stamp show - the Clifton Stamp Show that is sponsored by the Town of Clifton. See if this is unusual that a government municipality sponsors a stamp (and coin show). I cannot find a past video about it (well except the wonderful experience a man with a thick Northeastern NJ accent had at Clifton's own Comicon on you tube) but it is on the APS calendar so there is a strong chance it is a decent or good show. As I wrote I would gladly join you and I can show you a fabulous Arabic restaurant nearby in Paterson.

I will try to get to NOJEX show but the one in Clifton on Sept 10th is easier to reach - the bus from NYC stops right in front of the show location. For NOJEX buses stop nearby by it isn't the most pedestrian friendly area -- you know how the Secaucus mall/stadium area is like.
