Such a fantastic interview, Bloodlines came out a day after my 60th birthday so it was my birthday present to me. Thank you Robb and Tygers for keeping us guy's happy.
Great interview Phil. Rob is a legend. Ritual was such a fantastic album it even surpassed spellbound in my book as Tygers greatest achievement. I cannot wait for May 5th 👍
Cool interview that 👍 I've only been into The Tygers since the Ritual album, but they are getting better with age 🤘 Seeing them live for the first time next week 😀
Great interview. Tygers albums were always hard to find in The States back in the day. Great to have sellers like Amazon around now. I recently picked up their "The MCA Years" CD box set and it's awesome. Looking forward to the new album.
Really enjoyed that interview, thank you. Glad Robb's doing well. The new album should be very interesting. Shame John Sykes has thought of retiring! And Fred Purser's quiet too.
I was lucky enough to see Whitley Bay’s finest live, albeit just once (on The Cage tour). In the early ’80s, a bass player friend of mine was on a train from London, heading back north, when Robb Weir and Jon Deverill got on and sat beside him. Of course he recognised them and they had a good chat. He said they were really great people - even gave him a Tygers t-shirt and an album :) Thanks to Robb for sharing his story with us and for your great work Phil 👍
Well - I started watching this with a view to finishing it off tomorrow and I ended up watching it all the way through. What a top fella Rob comes over as. Saw them quite a few times with both Jess and then Jon as vocalists and have their stuff up to and including Burning in the Shade - but I hold my hands up - the reformation of the band passed me by, something I'll have to rectify. Think I still have a couple of tour shirts in the loft :D
You have to respect Robb for calling time on the Tygers, when the suits insisted on them recording other people’s songs. It’s that classic dilemma of artistic integrity versus the music business. It worked for Heart (although they had the same concerns) but even if The Cage had broken them in the States, I don’t think Robb would have acted any differently …
