I was a kid in Fort McMurray, Canada. They had a bunch on these north of the city in the tarsand mines. When they retired them, they put one in a science/museum center. We used to party in one of the "teeth" of the scoop. It was bigger than my family's living room.
That contraptions crazy! I wonder what the land that it excavated currently looks like. And if the soil & ecosystem restored itself. Where are the machines that dug the Channel Tunnel currently? 🤔
@@scones213 Only the French one. I believe the English one was backed up just far enough from the meeting point then nosed down to bury itself permanently under the Chunnel.

The tunneling shields from the channel tunnel are mounted on roundabouts in Calais.
