      Wow this is excellent Alexis! I've been following your cognitive functions series here and there, and I (and my tiny channel) are humbled by a mention... 😊
      A reprise of two very worthy points: First, that Fi/Ne and Ti/Ne are on the same page more often than not. Second, that Fi doms like Ti doms turn inward, so normally you won't get much SJW action out of either.

    Isfp here☺️… This video series is great Alexis. I enjoy how you take complex information and simplify it. I appreciate how you cleared up that not all fi doms or non fi doms are “whiny, sensitive, social justice warrior” and “pushing our values onto others” I admit, I can be whiny, sensitive (emotional) but I really keep it to myself. No way would I ever push my values onto other people. They need to choose for themselves. I respect other people and their choices. Even though I might not agree with their choices at times, I still believe people have every right to choose for themselves.
    Also I journal daily, like your husband 😄 i gotta get these deep emotions out and evaluate where I’m at on my moral scale which helps me in my walk with Jesus. Thank you for all the work you do with these videos. So helpful😀

    Thank you for the video. It's been super hard for me to decipher if I'm Fi or Ti dominant, mainly because I can relate to both. And the more I dive into the MBTI, the more confusing it gets for me, because Fi-Te can basically look like Ti-Fe, even though they are completely different functions. Plus it's super hard to type one self due to bias. Plus I can't 100% trust other peoples descriptions of me, as they are also affected by their personality, life experiences, inner world, possible trauma and interpretations, moral code, etc. Anyways, the point is, that your video clarified some points to me, and it's really nice to get an objective picture of it, instead of always hearing that Ti users are selfish idiots who don't have morals or compassion, and that Fi users are just following whatever feeling they have at the time, without any logic or sense.

    • @AlexisKingsley
      @AlexisKingsley  Год назад +12

      In my experience pure Ti isn't typically the offender to Fi (it's pretty easy to judge their intent as impersonal even if a little clunky at times). In my experience it's usually Ti mixed with a heavy dose of less sophisticated Fe trying to make people laugh by making fun of people (not just critiquing knowledge in general, but it becomes making fun of a person) or engage in teaming "us vs them" jokes, where the intent becomes less academic when Fe is involved, and more personal against a team or group they don't identify with. For Fi it's not as much about what you say, but about your intent behind why you said it (was it out of pride, was it said in insecurity, was it to gain clout, was it to prove in front of everyone another's stupidity etc.). Like Ti becomes very good over time at spotting false information, Fi-doms are good at spotting false intentions. Sometimes when I'm unsure of what my intentions are I'll ask my ISFP husband and he can easily list 4 or so different intentions even when I couldn't get to that knowledge as easily myself, and they always ring true, and if I'm honest with myself, at least one of my intentions is typically immoral in my eyes. Te and Fe both want the shortcuts to a favorable outcome, Fe might say "tell me all the things not to say that will produce a bad outcome and I won't say them." Fi wants the process to be clean, for people to go inward, do the journaling, really excavate themselves (which can be done in a Ti way.)

    As an INTJ, my Fi manifests less in a "I need moral perfection way" and more in an annoyed way if someone is proven to be egocentric, lacking epistemic humility, unable to detached themselves from their ideas. Certain attitudes that may or may not have moral connotations attached e.g. a strong ego can become a potent bias that obscures Te's getting things done the way it is stuff. While I can come across as arrogant because sometimes I just know things due to pattern recognition/intuition, there are some attitudes and people lacking identity/awareness of their feelings that I really dislike. It's hard to demarcate things you cannot identify, making it hard to detach the bias. I often loathe "holier than thou" type of attitude in anyone. I can find INTPs (demon Fi) very difficult to handle, it's as if someone needs to have a mathematical approximation of their feelings, and when they can't they just float around in a paranoid state (at least some of the ones I met). Big turn off for me relationship wise is when someone doesn't know what they want both in the Te sense and in the Fi sense.
    I like to dissect my emotions and their layers and get deeply into them in order to process (when it's not interfering with tasks). I find where the triggers are in order to see where I need to heal. it's like a ship with holes. I locate the holes and patch them, though it's a lot more complicated than just patching a hole. I go into the whereabouts of why I feel a certain way and try to trace the roots of it. it can lead to me tapping into the most intense/painful parts of my being, but I believe that is the way to deal with it: identification and coming up with resolution based on precedence and antecedents.
    In regards to chains of intentions, I often question if what I say is authentic to what I feel in a given moment. if it changes later, if it's mutable. I hate feeling flakey and saying things without an actual emotional intent. which is why I hate a lot of social situations in real life and just prefer to not interact at all. it sometimes forces you to be fake. I'm not entirely sure if I care about if it's moral, but I want "good results" where those I care for aren't thrown under the bus. there is a huge desire to create consistency within emotions and weed out contradictions.

    As an INTP (and thank you for this video because it helped me be closer to the "ultimate validity" of me being INTP lol), I find the INFP obsession over intentions a bit odd, almost unethical (Fe?), because intentions don't matter as much as consequences. My Fe makes me believe most people have good intentions, yet they still accidentally do evil, and that's what sucks about life and morals.

    INFP here…My Fi likes to appraise the “value” of everything-actions, thoughts, ideas, concepts. I’ll find myself saying “that’s a good idea” or “that’s a bad plan.” To me it’s more than just morality in the religious sense of the word. It’s also concerned with meaning. Now I know Ni is very concerned with meaning, but so is Fi. It is often evaluating the meaning of various things. I’m also subconsciously evaluating other’s intent and motives, but that might just be my Ne. Ive noticed that over the course of making constant judgements of everything that “value, meaning, and intent” are all somehow related and interconnected. I’m sure that that conclusion would trigger a Ti user. 😂😂😂

    • @RlyOverBored
      @RlyOverBored Год назад

      Im a Ti dom, didnt trigger me at all, thanks for ur viewpoint as a matter of fact.
      I've been trying to identify Fi closely. The word morals for Fi is solid but I didnt think it was "accurate" enough. Once u said in paraphrase "Fi is just more than morals", I think we are getting on the same page.
      I think the word "art" or "hermeneutics" for Fi might be the word to interconnect "value, meaning and intent" without necessarily having a moral (good or bad) implication, but rather express an opinion/interpretation that symbolizes something that you personally believe deeply. Art is an expression/interpretation of what you're trying to convey, the topic doesnt have to be moral all the time but u may lean into it more likely. Hermeneutics is a big fancy word for "art of interpretation". The evidence is more clear when you said "thats a good idea, thats a bad plan". Morality is non existent here, its purely interpretation of what a good or bad idea is.
      Everything that comes out of your mouth comes from the heart so I think "art" might be the golden word to encompass everything Fi has to offer.
      Art is the whole Fi if u will and morals, opinions, values, beliefs are included in the art.

    Responsibility of Fi is to keep social peace by making sure that nobody abuses/is abused by social rules. Everybody is treated according to the same rules, have same rights and responsibilities. Your personal reputation does not matter, as long as you are judged by your own, provable actions. Fi places responsibility for creating social rules to others (Ti), with Fi then ranking their importance.
    Responsibility of Ti is to make sure that members of his group are not mistreated. Their responsibility is to take right from other groups/people and give it to his own group/himself. Ti places responsibility for enforcing social behavior, gathering objective evidence and consistency of behavior onto others (Fi/Te).
    Example:
    Ti - people have rights to not her murdered
    Ti - people have rights to get wealthy
    Fi - a right to not get murdered is more important then right to get wealthy. Therefore you cannot murder people so you can then take their stuff.
    Basically, Ti creates social rules. Fi give them importance and enforces them. Si gathers desires. Ni makes them happen.

    I’m not going to lie in saying this, but you’re right. While I have my own belief systems, I will absolutely try to push them on to other people (and am unafraid of doing so) because these are goals that must be accomplished to make the world a better place. For example, the oil and gas industry is harmful to the environment and should be abolished. This is because (1) more species will progressively become extinct over time (some of which are undiscovered), and (2) their practices exacerbate the ongoing effects of global warming. Being complacent is simply not the answer. Politicians and the general public need to understand what the long term implications of their choices are in their professional, and personal lives.
    It’s a shame that our planet is sinking down into the toilet of despair. As a result, I’m working through my graduate studies to try and do my part with implementing the changes that I have mentioned here. I’m crossing my fingers that the little plunger I have will help unclog a piece of the discoveries we are bound to make within the realm of academia, no matter how big or small this piece may be.
    Thankfully, my Mom is an ISTJ, and my Dad is an ESTJ, so our mindsets are similar to a certain degree. While they aren’t as idealistic as I am, we all have the extraverted thinking function in our (a) dominant, or (b) auxiliary positions. That way, we can see things pragmatically (which is why we tend to not understand feeling MBTI types as well). Frankly, their reasoning patterns make absolutely no sense, and as my Mom once said that, overall, “feelings are for the weak.” Honestly, she’s not entirely wrong about that, which is why I’m not in a relationship with a feeler type. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    Occasionally, I have been called an asshole by some people because they think that I can be offensive at times. However, I’m just being honest with them, and I tend to call issues out without sugarcoating them like other MBTI types might do (generally speaking). It’s important to not be passive-aggressive and/or play mind games (aside from Sudoku and the like), and just communicate exactly what you want to say directly to that person. You don’t even have to hurt them to make this happen! I just wish that other folks could appreciate my stance on this issue as much as I do.
    Sincerely,
    An INTJ
