On the postage stamp quilt. .... Black thread on the borders...in a cool pattern . But white thread on the postage stamps in an x pattern. Enjoyed your flosstube episode.
I will have to be very careful when I watch your videos! I could have a "Happy Birthday to Me!", with every video you produce. This is the first place I have lived that I do not have a group of close friends to view and share our love of thread and needle. I do so miss that. I have replaced it with the stitchers on You Tube and watching each person produce their own projects is so wonderful to watch and see. I sure am glad you took your beautiful box to show. It did deserve a chair of its own. See you next video!
Christine, It is always so much fun to watch your videos. So many projects, so little time. It was great to hear about the Jacob Palooza retreat. How lucky that you were able to attend. I also loved seeing your quilt projects. For the postage stamp quilt, I think you could do some very curvy quilting in the borders (feathers?) and continuous curve on the blocks. Can't wait to see what you decide. Take care. Happy stitching. Best, K
Thank you. I’m in Shipshewana now and hoping I’ll be inspired to the point I’ll know exactly what to do with the quilting. I just wish I could remember my original good idea. 😂
What a fun video! I love that your box had its own seat!!! So glad you had a great time! Love watching your process/ plans for finishing! I’m no quilter, but I like the idea of something on the boarders and simple on the squares! I’m sure it will be beautiful whatever you decide!! ❤️
No fussy quilting on the postage stamp, in my opinion. Just simple as possible to stay in keeping with the simplicity of the quilt. So good to see you, as always
Hi Christine! Another wonderful video. I loved hearing all about your experiences at Jacob-palooza -- it sounded like a fantastic retreat. I too love MFE designs and wish I could stitch more of them. Happy Crafting! -Carolyn
Looks like Jacobpalooza was a great time. You have a nice collection of his designs. Love that Summer quilt! I hope you get your machine back soon. Marilyn
Quilt it with hanging diamonds. It would make it look old. Not sure if that can be done on a long arm but certainly by hand. I can come up with hand quilting designs to use but can’t with for machine quilting. You did inspire me to take my 100x 100 inch quilt to the local longarm quilter. Your blue and white quilt inspired me. You said you used a clamshell design but I saw it as a Baptist fan. Of course the longarm program didn’t look like a traditional hand quilted Baptist fan but the guy agreed to try it and even after much pleading decided to go ahead and reduce it to 8 inches and make it closer together. Both of us liked the finished result. Thanks for that inspiration. Not just like handquilting but it does have a good enough feel at a distance and I’m pleased that it’s done and on my bed.
What a fun video. I also love Modern Folk Embroidery, Jacob is amazing. I just love you postage stamp quilt. The sashing and border fabric is so great. It has a woven look to it. I think the putting a border quilt design would be lovely.
Fantastic video as always! Really love the Norma Whaley quilt and the new Jacob stitch you are working on. Looking forward to seeing your progress on both. I would do a simple cross hatch on the entire postage stamp quilt if the sashing dimensions allow for it to be even. Personally, I wouldn’t do it by hand (saving my hands for other stitching), but if you do; I would consider doing big stitch quilting so it really shows up on the boarder. It will be beautiful either way.
Thanks. I feel like I will probably longarm it. I have enough others to hand quilt. I like the big stitch idea though. That’s sort of what I was thinking originally.
Hi Christine! So great to catch up with you today. Your retreat looks like heaven for you! So many wonderful designs and your Simple Harmony box deserves to be the star of the show! Thank you for sharing your joy of stitching 🥰
Thank you for another video! Your quilt makes me want to have a quilting bee and gather friends to quilt it. I've got a couple Jacob charts that I now HAVE TO go kit and start.😂😊
Another great video! Thanks for sharing and asking for feedback. With your postage stamp quilt I see a combination of hand and machine quilting. Definitely hand quilt the sashing and borders, but for all of the patchwork seams I'd want to machine quilt. But because of the antique looks of the blocks and the utilitarian use of that style, I think it would be fun to tie the blocks with wool yarn ties every few inches, but still hand quilt sashing and borders. Clear as mud?!😁
The retreat sounds fabulous! Love seeing all your work. The quilt squares are beautiful. Hopefully the sewing machine fix is easy. Love your studio. I’m new to you & going to have to start from the beginning of your videos & hopefully you have done a tour. 😀
Maybe a Baptist Fan pattern overall for your quilt? I’ve been drooling over the Irish Sampler from Jacob but you may have added one or two more MFEs to my list. Have a great retreat!
Enjoyed visiting with you today. Loved hearing about the Modern Folk Embroidery retreat. Amazing patterns and works. Hope you have a great time at your hand stitching quilt retreat. 🧵🪡🍁🪡🧵
Lovely to see you tonight Christine. Really enjoyed your video, as usual. So glad you got to meet Jacob & have such a great time at the retreat. Like you, I absolutely love his work & have an ever growing collection of patterns waiting to be done. I'm still recovering from Stitch in London, my first ever retreat. Jacob designed the exclusive for the retreat & we had the opportunity to purchase Roxy Floss Co threads. Talk about a marriage made in heaven. I made sure to bring a fine collection back to Ireland with me. Now I just need to find more hours in the day to stitch all the things. Hope you enjoy your quilting retreat. Looking forward to hearing all about it. Take care. Best wishes from 🇮🇪
She has the most beautiful threads, doesn’t she?! I saw some posts about the Stitch in London retreat. It looked fabulous! I’m glad you were able to go. It is good for the soul.
Oh my gosh, Christine - I was so excited to hear you call my name on the Mary Barres chart and I can’t wait to start it one the 1st of the new year. Thank you so much.
Great video! I think I would do quarter inch quilting on the blocks and a feather design on the borders. Whatever you come up with will be very pretty. Happy stitching!❤ Give Agnes a squeeze for me!🐈⬛
It was so nice to see you! I appreciate you sharing your thought process in how you intend to execute a project. I have watched many, many retreat recaps on floss tube and have never been jealous of their good fortune until Jacob. If I could go to any retreat, it would be to see Jacob and Caroline. I’m happy you got to go and look forward to seeing your progress on his designs.
Such a fun episode, all your stitching is beautiful. I wonder if you can machine quilt the center blocks and hand quilt the borders? I have no idea if that is possible 🤔. Thanks for sharing all your stitchy goodness
Thanks for sharing Christine. Jacob. Palooza looked amazing. I do know how you get so much done. I know I’m pretty scattered when it comes to all I do so that’s a 2024 thing I’m going to seriously look into. I get sidetracked into something so easily. Your finished quilt amazing. I know you’ll figure out how to quilt it. I’m still just a beginner but know taking it to be quilted would be hard for me. Cost as well and who to have do it. I’ll just have to figure it out when I get to that point. Nothing larger then a queen size I’m thinking.
I was at the second weekend of Jacobpalooza and had an equally awesome time. Have you looked at Jacobs Under The Stars pattern? I am doing two strands a day on it and loving it. Also a quilter…we can puzzle forever about making the perfect quilting pattern so now I just start.
Oooh, yes, I have. Two strands a day is so smart. It may come down to that for me on this big one after November. I sometimes get bored with one color.
Great video, beautiful stitching and quilting!! Your retreat sounded like fun, have a great time at your Quilty retreat! Happy Stitching and Quilting 🧵✂️🪡❌️🦃🐿🍂
Great to see you again! Lovely WIPs! Sounds like you had a great time at the retreat. i am still wanting to steal your threads boxes behind you hehehehe! Oh, how is the old church coming along on fixing it to up to be a studio? Happy stitching!🪡
What an inspiring Flosstube! I love your pictures from the Jacob-palooza. I know exactly how you felt when you first saw Jacob’s designs, as I felt the same way. It was like getting a glimpse of a cave full of jewels. He is a genius. So glad you were able to show him your fantastic Forget-me-not box. Your coverlet tray is going to be gorgeous. Please come back soon… this video seemed way too short. Best, Carol in TX
Thanks for another great video. I must confess that l still have not started MFE2021SAL. FYI, while you were speaking about cuddling a koala, some of your Aussie viewers were yelling "They are not bears!" A lesson for fellow viewers.😊
I also have a Janome 6600 that I bought in 2008. I think mine is almost worn out. Can’t even count the number of quilts I have made on it. I love the red sampler you showed that you have started. Another great video
Loved seeing all of your projects! If you haven't made up your mind about how to quilt your quilt....if it was mine, I'd do a small circular motif (like feathers) where the gray borders cross in between the scrappy squares. Then feathers or paisleys on the straight gray borders all around. I would do diagonal straight line stitch on the scrappy squares. Kind of contrast the quilted curvy feathers or paisleys with the geometric of the scrappy squares? I'm sure whatever you choose will be great!
Another great video visit. Thank you. It was lovely meeting you at Jacob Palooza and yes, the box was probably the most popular person in the room. It was amazing to see it in person! I'm spending a lot of time planning out which MFE patterns to start next and looking at colors for the 2024 SAL. Finishing up a few Prairie Schooler ornaments at the moment (planned gifts for this Christmas) then perhaps on to Laura's Frisian Sampler and Love Gains? So much to stitch and love!
Thank you Christine for yet another great video! So inspirational, so many beautiful projects :) I have to go and check MFE web site again for some charts you mentioned :) About the quilt: live it! I would be machine quilting it (feathers on the borders and sashing and something simple on the blocks?) considering its size. If hand quilt - big stitches, but it’ll make it look more primitive which is great as well 😁 I am not helping here as I see 😂 P. S. Thank you for mentioning me ❤️❤️❤️
Your Halloween house was really cool. I love looking at your studio. Be safe and have a wonderful retreat. Can’t wait to see all that you get accomplished. Where do you buy your patterns from?
What a fantastic retreat! Beautiful projects and charts. Jacob is so talented. I might have to try to attend, if they host him again. Glad you enjoyed it.❤

Good for you. You’re right, it’s not quite the same but it gets your quilt done. And done is good enough sometimes.
Yay - shout out to my table mate Natalia! Christine, meeting you was one of the Jacobpalooza pleasures (thanks for posting our pic)! xoxo Kirsty
It was so great to meet you. I’m so glad you traveled half way around the world to be there.
Great video enjoyed watching your video and seeing all your beautiful 🤩 projects. Have a wonderful weekend and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Thank you! You too!
It was a great to meet you at Jacob Palooza! Have fun at your quilting retreat😊😊😊
So much fun to meet you. I hope we get to do it again someday.
I actually like the look of a tied quilt. Maybe tie the blocks and do some hand quilting in the corners.
What a fun video. I also love Modern Folk Embroidery, Jacob is amazing. I just love you postage stamp quilt. The sashing and border fabric is so great. It has a woven look to it. I think the putting a border quilt design would be lovely.

Love all your work. I tried to find the pattern for the Victorian Halloween house; the asking price is $69.00. ☹ Oh, well.

Someone on Etsy is asking $125 for the Victorian # 9 pattern. That's insane! I love it and would stitch it but no pattern is worth that kind of money.
