This was easily one of the most beautiful games when it released on the PS1, which was to be expected as it was the final game released by Squaresoft on the platform. Keep in mind though, whilst the Moguri mod is incredibly faithful to the original artstyle, the prerendered backgrounds and textures you are seeing have been upscaled to make the game look clean on high resolution monitors. That aside, this is by far the best way now to experience the original.
Moguri mod really made a difference! I was even able to decide how I wanted the character models to look in terms of art style 🙀💗 what a great project! Can only imagine how people that have played FF9 when it was released must feel, to see the graphics upscaled like this- beautiful!

it was indeed jaw dropping back in the day. I remember showing it to all my friends for great effect. It even rivals with some ps2 graphics. Of course its a CGI cutscene and its not the same as real time 3D, but we didint knew back in the day. We just saw amazing graphics. Great playtrough, I can already tell illl become a huge fan!
WOW already off to a extremely lucky start!!! 4:03 you managed to steal the Mage Masher off the first fight Speedrunners struggle to steal this on their playthroughs but it's necessary for them since it gives you the flee ability. Nice!

It's great that you are using Moguri Mod, it is amazing! For me, I always remove the 60 fps as it speeds up some animations way too much, sometimes the regular fps looks way better, but that is just me. Enjoy the game!

It brings so many memories 😀. I played it on PS1 emulator on my PC and the graphics sucked, I am happy that now I can experience it in a much better quality through your playthrough. Still, it didn't stop me from enjoying the game, and on the positive side, the emulator allowed me to save at any moment (because I hate save points 😅). And moogles 😍 I think, FF IX and FFXIV moogles are my favorite ones, they are so cute, kupo!

Great FF9. Vivi is one beloved character from the FF series, you saw a easter egg of him in FF16 - in Eastpool - they made scarecrows look like him in that game.
Nice, only 979 rope jumps more to go for the achievement that stopped me from ever trying to get a platinum in the newer versions of the game lol Have fun. Definately one ofthe best FF games when it comes to world design and characters. Music also of course. The card game in this is a bit annoying. Not that it's hard or can't be fun but it isn't really explained well. And on top of it there is a big random factor in it. So don't get confused when a card with a higher number loses. The numbers are just the base of the card stats. But in every "card battle" there is an additional dice roll made that may decide on who wins. Cards also get a bonus or malus depending on how many cards are touching each other on battles. If you use cards often enough they also have a chance of leveling up and get better. Sadly, other than Triple Triad, this game doesn't give you much for playing it. So many people are just ignoring it. And besides one part of the game you never are forced to play it.
Moogles first appeared in FF3 as the bodyguards of a wizard lol FF6 was the first time a moogle spoke, had a pom-pom on their head, and was a playable character
This is my favorite Final Fantasy. The characters are all so charming and the world has such a unique presence compared to the games that came out around this time and since. Comparing it to FF7, it's also kind of unbelievable that they both came out on the PS1.

I have never played this game or any other ff game because I don't like turn based games. The only ones I have played are skies of arcadia, mario rpg and ff7 og. (ff7 remake rebirth 15 and 16 yes because they are free battles) It will be interesting to see this new story and I know I will enjoy it, so I will be watching here. Saludos señorita ❤

Can't believe 9 is coming up on 25 years old. Definitely a different style than predecessors but a fantastic story and pretty solid gameplay in the spirit of the earlier turn based FF installments. Any plans to do FF15 eventually?

In the launcher it has a lot of options such as speed of battles, I messed this one up because I had fast in the game and like 0.3x in the launcher so it just went too fast 😹 but I fixed it. Then there's keys that you can press to fast forward, skip battles, trance?, and hit really hard. When those are in use you can see a medium sized icon in the lower right corner. There is dialogue bubble color, character style render, something with cards etc 😸 I went with a guide when I set up mine to get the best experience.
@@SlashterpieceGamingthe card game in FF9 kinda sucks so not surprised a mod exists to add cheats to it lol. Yeah just try and get the right balance otherwise when you get haste spell it won't mean much if you've set everything up to be extremely fast. FF9 is very slow on vanilla ps1 and it gets tedious fast
@nezkeys79 Yeah, but it does level it out since the enemies also get faster atb 😸 I had to slow it down since it went too fast and couldn't think of a strategy fast enough. It's very evident during the plant boss 😹 Right another thing, there was an option in the launcher to change it to other card games as well! But I kept it as is.
Yeah, I did bring it down a notch when I realized 😹 older games seem to have much higher audio. Since I have the exact same settings as the last 5 games I've played. And cutscenes are even louder 😹 I do have audio ducking on all the time, so it brings down the game audio by 60% When I'm talking. I think I fixed it for the next episode if I remember correctly, and put it to lower to 75% as well. Boosted my own mic too 🤔
Yeah I had to fix that for part 2 😹 luckily I realized it was too high at times. The audio should be lower when I'm speaking since I use 'audio ducking' but seems like ff9 has really loud audio compared to the other games I played 😹 since I use kind of the same settings. Cutscenes also are way louder 🙀

@@SlashterpieceGaming I believe a Moon Stone. A rare assecoire you usually don't get in the early game. But it's not that it is the only one in the game, so not too bad to miss it. A lot of people do on their first game. Exploring is often rewarding in FF9, but backtracking is not something most people do without having any knowledge beforehand. And I'd say the massive 10k gil are the real win here. Helps a lot on the first disc to have that money.

Sadly, other than Triple Triad, this game doesn't give you much for playing it. So many people are just ignoring it. And besides one part of the game you never are forced to play it.

This is my favorite Final Fantasy. The characters are all so charming and the world has such a unique presence compared to the games that came out around this time and since. Comparing it to FF7, it's also kind of unbelievable that they both came out on the PS1.

I have never played this game or any other ff game because I don't like turn based games. The only ones I have played are skies of arcadia, mario rpg and ff7 og. Can't believe 9 is coming up on 25 years old. Definitely a different style than predecessors but a fantastic story and pretty solid gameplay in the spirit of the earlier turn based FF installments. Any plans to do FF15 eventually?

So is this mod just a graphics mod? Or affects gameplay too?
In the launcher it has a lot of options such as speed of battles, I messed this one up because I had fast in the game and like 0.3x in the launcher so it just went too fast 😹 but I fixed it.
Then there's keys that you can press to fast forward, skip battles, trance?, and hit really hard. When those are in use you can see a medium sized icon in the lower right corner. There is dialogue bubble color, character style render, something with cards etc 😸 I went with a guide when I set up mine to get the best experience.
@@SlashterpieceGamingthe card game in FF9 kinda sucks so not surprised a mod exists to add cheats to it lol. Yeah just try and get the right balance otherwise when you get haste spell it won't mean much if you've set everything up to be extremely fast. FF9 is very slow on vanilla ps1 and it gets tedious fast
@nezkeys79 Yeah, but it does level it out since the enemies also get faster atb 😸 I had to slow it down since it went too fast and couldn't think of a strategy fast enough. It's very evident during the plant boss 😹
Right another thing, there was an option in the launcher to change it to other card games as well! But I kept it as is.

Might have already been said, but I think the game audio is too loud 🤔
Yeah, I did bring it down a notch when I realized 😹 older games seem to have much higher audio. Since I have the exact same settings as the last 5 games I've played. And cutscenes are even louder 😹 I do have audio ducking on all the time, so it brings down the game audio by 60% When I'm talking. I think I fixed it for the next episode if I remember correctly, and put it to lower to 75% as well. Boosted my own mic too 🤔
The audio game isn't too loud? your audio is sometimes muffled by the game
Yeah I had to fix that for part 2 😹 luckily I realized it was too high at times. The audio should be lower when I'm speaking since I use 'audio ducking' but seems like ff9 has really loud audio compared to the other games I played 😹 since I use kind of the same settings. Cutscenes also are way louder 🙀

@@SlashterpieceGaming I believe a Moon Stone. A rare assecoire you usually don't get in the early game. But it's not that it is the only one in the game, so not too bad to miss it. A lot of people do on their first game. Exploring is often rewarding in FF9, but backtracking is not something most people do without having any knowledge beforehand. And I'd say the massive 10k gil are the real win here. Helps a lot on the first disc to have that money.
