    ●Uchigatana
This sword is generally referred to as a ``Japanese sword (Nihonto),'' and overseas it is also called a ``Samurai sword.'' A samurai wears two swords, a long sword and a short sword, on his waist, and the longer sword is the uchigatana. It was shorter and lighter than the ``Tachi'', which was intended for use on horseback, so it was mainly used in battles on foot. Until the Nanbokucho period, battles on horseback were the norm, so long swords were used that were meant to be wielded while mounted. In the Muromachi period, small swords called wakizashi, which were suitable for indoor use, began to be produced, and a style of carrying two swords at the same time, a long sword and a short sword, was born, called the ``large and small sword.''
    ●Wakizashi
A wakizashi is a sword with a length of 1 shaku (approximately 30 cm), which was used as a backup weapon in case the uchigatana could no longer be used, and even townspeople who were not in the samurai class were allowed to carry it. ) or more, but less than 2 shaku (approximately 60 cm). After the Edo period, when the ``daisho nihonzashi'' (carrying an uchikatana and a wakizashi sword at the same time) came to be seen as formal samurai clothing, the material and color of the handle and sheath changed. Koshirae, which was unified with uchigatana, came into use.
    ●Tanto
A Japanese sword with a blade length of less than 1 shaku (approximately 30.3 cm) and almost no warping. Unlike Wakizashi, it does not have a Tsuba, so it is also called ``Aikuchi''. Short swords were easy to handle even by weak women and small children, and because they didn't have a guard, they were easy to conceal in one's pocket, so they were primarily used as self-defense swords. Because of its size, it is sometimes mistaken for a wakizashi (wakizashi: a sword that is between 1 shaku [approximately 30 cm] and less than 2 shaku [approximately 60 cm]), but if a koshirae has a guard, it is a wakizashi. If it is an ``Aikuchigoshirae'' without a guard, it can be distinguished from a tanto.

Opened on April 8, 1991 "Aikido that allows you to break the opponent's grip on you"
At Aikido Rakushinkan, you can practice not only Aikido, but also ancient martial arts such as Daito-ryu and Asayama Ichiden Ryuijutsu, and connect it with the rationale of Ono-ha Itto-ryu and Mugen Shintou-ryu Iaijutsu to create the ``Kenju Ittai'' technique. Based on this idea, we practice with the aim of ``aiki that can break the opponent's grasp from a place where they are seriously holding on,'' rather than just a formal and beautiful practice.
Aikido is a martial art where you face yourself, with no competition and no winning or losing, so everyone from children to the elderly can enjoy learning it. We hone our techniques not by relying on arm strength or explosive power, but through breathing and relaxation.
