    I feel like these are pretty important because your closed back recommendations between 100 - 300 $/€ are mostly either old, unavailable or even discontinued. Or like the Sony MDR-CD900ST need to be imported. So well done Sivga.

    just got these yesterday, the "black" version. When you hear people say these are bass forward they're not joking. The bass just feels elevated overall and to my ears there seems to be a notch of boost somewhere in the mid to high-mids of the bass region, which took me by surprise as I didn't see that mentioned in reviews aside from a focus on sub bass which they definitely rival my DT770 80ohms there (as well as soundstage). On tracks that already have heavy bass (particularly mid bass) it can definitely be a little much. But what blows my mind is how they maintain clarity, detail, and imaging so exceptionally well despite the bass forwardness. Right out of the box things sounded a bit hollow, but I don't feel that way anymore, I'm not sure about the concept of "burn-in" but it's either that or I just had to get used to them. Build quality is stellar, they feel and look absolutely lovely, pads are heaven, possibly the most comfortable cans I've ever wore, dethroning my DT770s with Dekoni leather pads. Compared to my HD58X these have noticeably more bass ,soundstage, and airy-ness while the DT770s are closer to it in those aspects. Both the SV021 and the DT770 sound more recessed in the high mids than the HD58X, SV021 is warmer than the DT770s which also seems to barely beat it clarity\detail.
    I wanted FUN headphones and that's exactly what I got.

      I also received the Sivga's yesterday and after critical listening, the mid hollowness didn't do it for me. Also, the Sivga makes everything sound way too bassy for my taste so, after careful consideration, my current shp9500 still remains headphone champ. To my ears and taste, the Shp9500 were able to beat Hifiman 560, Phillips X2HR, AKG k712pro, and the current Sivga Robins.

    WTF?!? I am very happy with my headphone collection, which ranges through multiple Grados, Sennheiser, Meze, Beyerdynamic, HiFiMan, Abyss, Focal, and even Sivga, etc. … with most of them costing MUCH MUCH more than these headphones by SIVGA. But I thought, for $149 on Amazon it can’t hurt to try them. HOLY CRAP … These things compete with the rest of them - and beat most of them - for sheer musical enjoyment! Seriously! These bring out the grit and grunt in music that many headphones are lacking - the uuumpf!
    I listen across many genres, with particular love for jazz, classic rock, progressive rock, blues, Vocal, instrumental, etc. These headphones take tracks that I have listened to for years and bring a whole new punch to them that is lacking in many headphones, but without taking away any detail from other frequencies in the songs. Just amazing … and for $149????
    I may finally start downsizing my headphone collection. These are just too enjoyable and amazing. Holy sheesh!!!

    I've been in the market for a comfertable good sounding headphone, and after watching A LOT of reviews, I decided to go with these. OMG! I have never owend a quality set of headphones before, so I didn't know what I was missing out on. It feels like you don't have anything on when wearing them. They sound amazing and the price isn't bad for such quality. There is nothing i can say that hasn't been said by so many. Get them, I would be surprised if you didn't like them.

  • @KolMan2000
    @KolMan2000 2 года назад +7

    One common thing I’m hearing about these headphones is that they have very high Sibilance. Meaning that ‘S’ sounds and such are very grindy and staticky. So a lot of people can agree then these are not very good for any song that says S words a lot, or for electronic music (namely dubstep or similar sub-genres). Both of which sound very understandable as most headphones that sound incredible for most things just don’t sound good for electronic. I’m not all that big on headphones but do a lot of gaming, and hopped on the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro train, and although I love those headphones for near everything, I just can’t stand to listen to most electronic music on them because it makes my ears bleed. Sounds like a very similar issue for these headphones, but I just might give them a try

    watched the review, ordered them right after - tldr; they are amazing
    I use dt1990 at home with smsl V2, but I cant use open back at work so closed back was the only option. Ordered dt770 80ohm and returned them after 2 days, sound is so flat and lifeless that I had trouble listening for more than 2 hours. EQing only made it worse, they have like 4/10 on low end for me. dt1990 can be changed from 0 low end to vibriting sub mode with no real loss in quality (for my taste). Sivga at half volume was too loud to even put on my head so power is not an issue. With spare smsl m2 it sounds fucking amazing, low end can be changed from 8/10 to 11/10 with vibration. Tried using it with galaxy A70, but maximum volume wasn't anything to brag about so mobile is "good enough". I mostly consume edm, trance and hardstyle.

    I got myself a pair out of curiosity. The only negative I find is that the cups don't swivel, and thus I can't get a good seal wearing them like I'd usually position a headhpone on my head. I have to rest the headband way further forward, so I can use the tile of the earcups to get a good seal. Otherwise no complaints.

    I just got the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros for maybe $80 new, you might review those too, cause those, for my money, are some of the finest closed-back high-efficiency
    over the ear headphones (with 4 levels of bass sliders) you can get. And they are fun! Build level is quite high, padding is fantastic. No wood on 'em, just pure class
    and warm but flat sound with some amazing bass if you want it. Plus the Beyers are portable, which these don't really seem like they check the portable box. However,
    these sound promising as hell for desktop, home listening via a really good head. amp or desktop amp, for sure. Wood makes me nervous for commuting type
    applications.

  • @robertmwilliams
    @robertmwilliams 3 года назад +11

    Well my pair arrived and I have been giving them a listen. I really like how they sound out of the box and will put them on a burn in rig for a few days to see if they improve even more. One nice thing I did discover was that if you have a pair of Sigva PII handy the balanced cable works on these. Which is good as they like power. So while they can be used with just a cellphone a dac/amp brings out more of the sound.

I didn't have the pleasure to listen to the very expensive ones like focal. Balanced cables make a substantial difference especially with hard to drive HP's like the 400se. Also, I'm surprised when reviewers say that the 400se doesn't have a wide soundstage. It was able to easily beat (at least to my ears) K712pro, shp9500 and sivga Robins. Just get Meze99s.

      I'll just say they're exactly as good as Zeos says they are. I got a pair and I couldnt find a song that doesnt sound great on it. Electronic, orchestra, hip hop, rock, pop, vocal, instrumental, everything sounds great on these. They are very transparent both in terms of amps and the mastering of the track. Some songs they sound mid forward, some songs they sound bass forward, some songs they sound sharp. They also scale very well with amps, they sound good just plugged in to your phone or laptop but they get better the better your amp is. I couldnt imagine anyone not liking these headphones in all honesty as long as you're fine with closed back. The one downside I've heard is that the cups dont articulate so some people with small heads complain about not getting a good seal, I have a large head so it was never an issue for me.

    @Blakeoffire 3 года назад +2

    Picked up my set yesterday in the darker finish... equally as gorgeous ! The (dark) press photos simply do not do it justice... The silky satin finish on the dark-brown wood cups is as wonderful to touch/stroke as the grey satin-feeling aluminum arms.... You nailed it with the sound description. I burned mine in for 50 hours and it helped 'settle down' the immediate out-of-the-box excitability of the frequencies (just like I did with the Phoenix... same driver !) Oh the comfort though.... Plus, I also kind of like how they're a thinly-veiled 'closed-back' in the same way that the Nighthawk is more of a semi-open sound design - as you noted, the Nighthawk is akin to the sound made when placing two sea-shells over your head. No pivot on these is no biggie what with those enormously cush earpads... "like the Harmonicdyne Zeus but closed..." Yep, I own the Zeus as well and I agree !

    • @devontoner
      @devontoner 3 года назад

      I'm considering these for a use case where I'd frequently only have 1 ear in the headphone, is it still comfortable if you move 1 cup behind an ear?

    • @Blakeoffire
      @Blakeoffire 3 года назад +1

      @@devontoner I just tried that exact action... and while it isn't uncomfortable (because of the ultra-plush pads), the lack of pivot will slightly crack open the backside of the opposite earpad if you place the earpad you just took off on a really wonky angle... But, also because of the thick pads, I was able to just gently place one earpad off of/behind my ear and allow the headphone to rest on my head at that slightly askew angle and the earpad still covering my other ear was fine... no discomfort (again because of the pillow pads)

    • @devontoner

It's just a bit painful sometimes to listen to him sort of pretend to be critical while at the end of 99% of reviews it's "buy this...best I've ever heard...best so far...etc" I mean the man told the world the SVS ultra bookshelves were the best speakers he had ever heard and then sold them in that months yard sale. Ever considered that perhaps when he gives us a video he's being, oh I dunno, some modicum of professional even if he himself isn't as enamored with it because he isn't anyone else, or perhaps he already owns things he personally enjoys more? People love DT 1990 Pro's, I hate them, does that make them objectively bad because I do not like them? Same principles and questions apply to any reviewer of audio gear. And again, why waste time for mediocre crap, it doesn't usually pay off financially, and in the end, this is how they make a living.
