I was going through this video and I actually took a pause from it when coach Taylor said you have to earn this break and I’m going to be upfront about this and say I don’t know if I deserve this break, for the past week I been trying to work on my craft but all I can say is that the love for the game isn’t there anymore and I remember a couple hours ago I was contemplating on weather to do this break or not and I caught myself being scared that what if I lose the love for the game forever and when I realized I got that feeling I was glad to know that the love for the game was still there but not as strong as it used to be before and well all I’m trying to say is I want to take this two week break from the game to try and rekindle the love I had for it when I was a kid because all the game feels like now is a job I am forced to work at. So my reasoning for writing this is for someone to tell me if I should or shouldn’t take this two week break to get back the love for the game I had. Hopefully someone responds and have a great day everyone.
Taking a break will make you help you connect to what you TRULY feel, and not what you've convinced yourself to feel. If you love the game, you'll realise why, and love it even more. If not, then you'll realise you're better off not forcing yourself to love something you don't.
I really want to start this immediately my summer league season just ended yesterday but I have my first basketball practice for another league this Saturday that starts September 22nd. Hopefully we have a 10-14 day window of free time so I can disconnect
Yess sirr been waiting for this! I've already scheduled when to do the break and i'm super excited for it now that i know how to properly go through it
I may or may not have covid,if I do I will be doing this is will be perfect. The first time I caught covid I got so much worse when I came back, will make sure this will not happen this time.Although some of the activities you mentioned I will not be able to do them,I'll try to balance stuff as much as possible
Can I do a 2 week break while still going to work? I feel like I really need a 2 week break but I can’t get off work till half way through. This is currently 2 weeks before school starts. What should I do?
Me- being so inspired by these talks and listening to all of them so I try to buy the 8 week program. Also Me- checks how much it costs and realising I'm broke 😭
For sure, you might find it to be so. 2-3 days is not close to the full two weeks nor will it typically have the same affect, but regardless, you may find it particularly useful to journal afterwards and see what insights it brings you =) Simon DeepGame
I’m 8 days into my break but I have been doing it while I’m in school. I have school 4-6 hours a day 5 days a week and then when I get home I do at most 1 hour of school work and then I kind of hang out for the rest of the day at home. I have been pretty bored as I don’t really know what to do outside of basketball and with no social media so I have kind of just been hanging around. Is this ok that I have been doing this while in school and just doing nothing at home?? I want to make sure I’m not wasting my break
Also am I allowed to watch a basketball game for fun? And Is talking about basketball with my friends allowed or should I just try and forget about basketball all together for the break
hey coach i know im 2 years late 😂 but my school basketball team is making all the players come for a shoot around post season to talk about how the next 4 years are gonna be (im a freshman) should i attend cus i think it would be good for it but im already 3 days into my break
@@DeepGameBasketball Another question, i have a basketball tryout on monday (it got moved) and since sunday is going to be my tenth day should i also just make it my last? or should i go to the tryout and then continue for 3 more days?

The whole point of the break is to renew your love for the game/ reflect on your game and process. If you did one of those things you did the break right.

Hey question: so I currently start cross country in exactly a week, if I take a one week break is that fine, or even If I take the minimal 10 days with the last few days being some cross country practices? I know it’s not ideal, but I feel like my mental health needs it desperately and can most definitely 101% benefit from it regardless
"Basketball isn't life, It's a teacher of life" Thanks coach Taylor :)

I had a quick question. Is it worth writing journal contemplations at the end of your break if you are doing the 2-day/3-day weekend version?

Taylor, I run Cross and track on top of basketball. Can I take a 2 week while I’m in those seasons?
It be best to find a gap or two in your year to take a dedicated 2 week break.
