Ya know, I find it impressive that you are apparently so into the books but are still excited for season 2. I can’t stand that show, but I appreciate that you are somehow enjoying it
Really like these deep dives, the lore is so fascinating! Might be interesting to revisit these if any of the material in the new book this fall sheds new light on Jordan's influences for the Cycle!
For the "five ride forth and four return" part, I always assumed Ingtar did what he did because, like Rand, during the "flicker" scene earlier in the book he saw what might have been for him and knew he has chosen the wrong path. Most likely seeing his actions were the doom of mankind or he ended up being the hero by not wanting to be the hero but by doing what's right
Your intro music is so much louder than your voice ever since you tinkered with your sound set-up a few weeks back. Your voice recording needs a boost and the intro music volume should perhaps be tuned down a little. Anyway, thanks for all you do keeping us up to date with all things WoT! :)
Great video! For the next part, could you show the text of the part of the prophecy you're talking about on the screen (maybe where you had shots from the show now)? That would make it much easier to follow along.
Looking at all the prophesies and Foretellings - Why was it necessary for Luc Mantear, Tigraine's brother, to go into the Waste? As far as I could tell, the only thing that accomplished was to join with Isam, which is somehow supposed to be a good thing? Or was Isam/Luc and his skills necessary to bring forth Perrin's latent skills?
I'm personally not to adverse to them releasing season 2 some time after rings of power. As much as I hate to wait, a later release date ensures any subscribers are joining because of WoT and not it just lingering over. Plus fantasy fatigue? Watch ring of power then bombarded by another fantasy series immediately after could be alot for some people, not me, but I'm sure they exist lol
Any thoughts about the thumbnail from the Amazon LOTR series trailer looking like it could have been pulled from the Blood Snow sequence? It's like they realized that was the shot that even critics could agree on for WoT, so they lifted the concept for the LOTR trailer...
I have a question. Well several questions on one topic. Can you please answer or direct me to where I can get answers? I've only just started book nine so no spoilers please. In the TV series after Kerene dies _ Stepin removes her ring from her hand _ the stone is in the ring _ when he hangs it on his neck and melts the ring the stone is missing? Is there a reason for the missing stone? Have I missed something from the books? Or was this a slip up by Amazon studios like a coffee cup left on a table ? I first thought that the stones dissolved with the death of the Aes Sedai but the rings the Whitecloak had still retained their stones. thank you . I enjoy your videos very much.
The stone isn't part of the books, it was added to show the Ajah in the show. I just assumed, since it would have happened off screen, the stone was returned to the tower (perhaps the head of the Green Ajah or a Sitter) and would probably be used by a future Green Ajah Sister. Possibly to continue the legacy of sisters who have died in service to the Ajah and the White Tower. Since it's not mentioned at all, this is how I think of the missing stone. Or, it's possible he kept the stone because he was her warder and allowed to keep it since the ring itself was melted down and possibly used to make Great Serpent rings. Only problem with that is the Great Serpent rings are given to Accepted and Accepted don't necessarily become full Sisters.
HELP!!! Spoiler question: In the books, when Rand defeats the Shatan. I thought he wins for all future turnings of the wheel in the future. But did he just win for his turning or for all future time?
@@30Huckleberry ah! Well, for this turning of the Wheel yes, but there will be seemingly endless more turnings... each with 3000 years or more in between...
Bear in mind that they did not, in fact, make the Dragon female. They only allowed the Aes Sedai to reconsider their prophesies and think for a time that perhaps he _could_ have been. Which is a force fed red herring that threw a wrench into the works, but remember that it could have been worse.
One example: There are ghosts walking through the White Tower. Comforting terrified novices is one of the ways that Egwene builds support among the Younglings.
It does happened later in the series. The closer it gets to the time of the Great Lord's return, the more he touches the pattern. First I can really remember a notable sighting is when Mat leaves Ebou Dar and that town that appears out of no where, but none of the ghosts take any notice of the party on the road and the Merchant gets off his wagon and gets sucked into the ground
@@CharlieJ69 Ok, I remember that now though I can't remember at the time if I knew they were ghosts or thought it was something else. Thanks for reminding me!
The show changing the lore to allow a female dragon isnt even consistent with how they search for the dragon. How are the aes sedai filtering out particularly strong female channelers as candidates of the dragon? Shouldnt that be a big deal? Its barely considered in the show
Well, I think Nyneave is the first female channeler strong enough to be considered that Moirane and Siuan have come across since Gitara foretold the Dragon's rebirth. Though Moirane had strong reason to dismiss her because of her age (which is why she was asking when she was born when they were at the pool in the Two Rivers). I mean, yeah I dont agree with how they show is doing it either... but there is logic there to it. The Dragon being a man is one of the fundamentals of the book; he needs to overcome the internal struggle of saidin before confronting the Dark One.
@@avendesora222 let's forget about gitara's prophecy. If I were aes sedai and a strong channeler appeared, I'd either be suspicious as heck, to the point where they end up just stilling each other for fear of the dragon coming, or id want to keep the dragon close and maybe let her lead us. See, if the dragon can be female, whats stopping any amyrlin seat from declaring herself as a dragon? It just doesnt make sense and its so stupid

I'd become a full on scholar if Jordan had release a full book of prophecies.
I would totally buy a hardback of the Prophecies of the Dragon.

Love the explainer vids, looking forward to pt2
I really enjoy these kinds of videos. I think it will help through the long wait for season 2. Looking forward to more.
When I think about where Rand will be going in season 2 I remember he was reading this when he met Loial

Commenting for the algorithm bump. Awesome breakdown!

What about the prophecy from the dark friends written in blood. I can't remember what it says without going back and finding it
A deep dive into the Prophecies of the Shadow would be interesting

It almost seems that the possibility of a female dragon was a Moirane pet theory due to her own doubts about the prophesies.
