Elegant's pop offs are fire. Good to see him rebounding too, I know that among other personal issues including his family's belongings being stolen from that moving van he was really stressed and it showed in his placings for a while. Elegant needs to win an S tier, he deserves it!

This was when his family was moving and the moving van was stolen along with almost everything they owned. They've gotten it back to my knowledge, but it can't have been easy.
Zenyou didn't capitalize nearly enough on baiting and frame trapping Elegant imo. He kept trying to go for combo strings instead of backing off and punishing the cyclone.

Zenyou 100% lost solely because of cyclone. The commentators did a great job pointing it out as zenyou kept letting it happen. Cyclone is a broken move that forces combo-dependent characters like Mario to play a lot more hesitantly and usually get less than usual from their openings in neutral. Not only does it automatically break luigi out of a lot of Mario’s combos, it damages Mario instead, and it is a kill move in neutral that is also guaranteed off of grab. However, I know it’s harder than it sounds, but zenyou could have still won the set by respecting cyclone more, overcommitting less, and getting punished by cyclone less, like you said. It’s not like it’s unbeatable. Cyclone has a lot of end lag, so if zenyou would have respected it more often, he could have gotten an f smash kill or whatever combo starter he wanted. You could say elegant won by cheesing zenyou with cyclone instead of outplaying him, but really zenyou lost by letting Elegant cheese him so many times. So elegant did win by outplaying Zenyou.
Cadence cyclone is a great move, but because of its lag, it is in no way broken. i'm sorry, but getting a cyclone read is almost a free kill sometimes, even at mid percents luigi is open to a charged smash attack. i'm from socal and i've seen these two play plenty and i know it's weird, but zen you played this game really well compared to in the past when he tries to do exactly what you're pointing out he gets absolutely bodied for it. elegant controls the game and it no longer becomes zenyou vs elegant and instead zenyou vs ultra instinct elegant. it's amazing to watch.

Cyclone fucks combo characters incredibly hard because comboing Luigi is paradoxically a benefit for Luigi. Furthermore, combo based characters rarely have large enough or powerful enough F-smashes to punish the Cyclone in any meaningful way so Luigi can spam it worry free.
