    I think Halsey has gotten a lot better over the years. She definitely sings more cleanly and uses less of the affected accent. She has impressive stability and breath control for someone who hasn’t really had much formal training. I think she definitely cares about improving her voice and technique.

      It’s sad that Selena let her confidence issues affect her voice. Plus her lupus didn’t exactly help either. I definitely think there's a place for artists who aren't super duper talented. Not everyone needs to be a Beyoncé. But I think artists that actually are great should be praised more. It sucks when there's extremely underrated talent and then basic half-assed singers get all the attention.

      I agree. Singers like beyince who are super "talented" vocalist technically are often super boring to me because they rely so much on their voice that their music and lyrics and production seem to be lacking to me often. And the overuse of runs just because you can do them is always such a turn off for me with singers.

The main thing I wish the music industry would do is to allow for diversity in the mainstream. For example, it could be different genres and stuff. What bugs me most about people is them saying „X has so much potential...“
    Pretty much every human being has the potential to sing or do anything they want.
    Of course it’s cool to be talented in some way, but by exercising and training you can come quite far and be impressive as well.
    When a singer has potential when it comes to their vocals, that just means they are just like everyone else and need to train their voice, while there are millions of people out there who don’t just have potential, but are vocalists already so why should we wait for someone to grow as everyone could when there are already people who worked hard to get to their level of skill.
    It’s not about singing anymore, but about the persons themselves and that’s okay I guess, but we shouldn’t be delusional and try to hype aspects up that aren’t really there or extreme.
    Example: Normani (because she was mentioned so often)
    She may have potential when it comes to singing, but Jazmine already SiNgs, Jojo blows you out of the water and Cynthia Erivo gets you pretty much every time.
    And yes she can dance, but so can the background dancers of most singers or random people in dance offs...

    I don't see Halsey as a singer, but I see her as an artist. She might not be as good as Ariana, but you gotta admit her works are more artistic than most singers. She writes her own songs and you gotta admit her lyrics are amazing, literaturely, artistically. She might not sing with amazing vocals, but she sings with feelings, which make it more personal and touches the audiences' heart better than "amazing vocals". She's like the epitome of artist, like she sings, writes, dances, acts and even paints. Plus, the fact that she keeps addresses herself as an artist instead of a singer shows that she's not just your typical popstar that tries to impress, but all she tries to do is to tell-the story that she puts in her songs. She has a different feel about her that makes people love her works despite her vocals.

    • @archive2500
      @archive2500 3 года назад +3

      True. I do not like Halsey's attitude and about her dramas or whatsoever. But I can not deny the fact that she can sing and she has a lot of potentials to be a better singer. She has her artistic inflections to a song and style that makes a song does not sound bland.

    Rose and Normani are in the same boat where they were put (company/management) into a range/style of singing that wasn't natural for their actual range. Because that was the tone the company wanted for them. Which only damages them sadly. Its like how Sabrina Carpenter singings in a low tone and she's good at it but you can tell its forced and not her natural range.

    The loudest singer is not the best singer. Just because you can sing high notes doesn’t make you a better singer. Normani is not a bad siner but she lost all the confidence because the group needed to sound POP or else she wouldn’t get parts. So it messed with all the girls . They told Lauren and Dinah they needed to change their voices to sound like Halsey and Camila pop voice 🤦‍♂️

  • @monovatherealest
    @monovatherealest 2 года назад

    You are correct, I think it's extremely upsetting for people to just write Normani off as a bad singer, when she just doesn't have the breath control and that's her main issue, but with her long hiatus I'm optimistic about her improvements. Not every single singer needs to be a vocalist and I feel like people try to force that onto her moreso than others just because of ACTUAL black female vocalists that have already been established

    Y’all really trippin if you think Halsey can’t sing. If you listen to the stripped version of her song it goes to show she’s amazing. Also she had a problem with her jaw and had to get surgery for it.
