    Very nice alchemy overview, Mike! I'm sure youll get a ton of recipe suggestions in the comments-here are two of my mainstay recipes, both for their potency and ease of gathering ingredients. (The first is close to one you had in the video)
    Wizard's Brew: red mountain flower+jazbay grapes+moon sugar: three effect potion (fortify magicka, restore magicka, increase magicka regeneration). Both the red mountain flowers and jazbay grapes are fairly common and can be grown.
    My favorite poison is Canis Root+Imp Stool+Scathecraw. If you wait until you have the 'green thumb' perk, you can gather an absurd amount of scathecraw without having to leave Raven Rock, with canis root and imp stool both being able to be grown.
    Lichor and Steel Blue Entoloma are two of the RC ingredients great for magicka-related potions (you can grow Entoloma, unlike most of the Rare Curios ingredients), and Chokeberry (RC) can make some very nasty poisons.
    Cheers!

For every new character, I'd run from Whiterun to Gjukar's Monument picking the blue flower and lavender. In Solitude I'd get the hanging moss in the catacombs. Quick question, can those third and fourth effects only be discovered by mixing three different ingredients together? Or would simply mixing two as normal allow you to discover all the effects of one ingredient?

    • @mike-thegamingdad
      @mike-thegamingdad Год назад +1

      The discovery of effects is achieved by mixing ingredients which share the same effects. So you can do this by mixing 2 ingredients yes and discover all 4 effects of a particular ingredient eventually. Using 3 ingredients at a time you are just more likely to discover a match, as you have 12 possible effects vs 8. And you are more likely to create potions that have multiple effects that way as well as the chances of finding 2 or more matches at once is higher than if you only use 2 ingredients

    So if you master pickpocket and Alchemy you can basically level any skill to level 95 easy by pickpocketing a paralsis potion and then taking the gold from said master level trainer then using the books but personally I'd have a companion pick the books up and read them from lv 95 on ward. Specifically Archery is easy to level with Alea being a free trainer to 75. Then just train with a master pickpocket him(theives guild is a good remorse free place) then use the skill books and go to this one lady that used to live in helgan she can train you from 95 to 100.

    When you eventually reach 100 in alchemy, enchanting, smithing and your chosen armor and weapon skill you will reach a ceiling. When playing lower difficulties your power ceiling will far exceed the level scaling in the world, however when on higher difficulties this will not be the case. If you intend to go the distance on legendary you may need to break through the designed power ceiling, this can ruin the fun of Skyrim if you go too far - so don’t do that. Assuming you can handle self imposed limitations then I suggest the fortify restoration potion loop. In effect you can raise your alchemy skill almost infinitely, the limitation being your game crashing because the game can’t handle potion or enchantment effects this powerful (specifically this powerful ‘2,147,483,647%’). There’s no reason to go so high beyond the novelty so like I said self imposed limitation is the key. There may come a point where you use the rare curios to buff smithing and you still end up only doing chip damage. That’s the point where you pursue fortify restoration potion looping. I won’t explain the step-by-step there’s a ton of info out there. I think everyone should one-hit Alduin with a wooden sword at least once for the novelty, or some other example of absurdity.
    Good video too, I didn’t know about some of those combinations and I’ve played this game a silly amount. I enjoy the fortify destruction potions the most. Magic damage falls off late game so I’d be lost as a mage without glowing mushroom and nightshade. You can grow them all with ease at the various Hearthfire homes which makes those ingredients stupidly valuable in my eyes. I also love that swamp fungal pods and canis root produce paralysis because they are also super easy to grow at home. Those blue butterfly wings tend to be a bottleneck for me I do tons of enchanting.
