4 Modern DIY Furniture Makeovers: Chalk Painting For Beginners

- In this weeks tutorial, I am off site on a special assignment to help a friend stage her home for sale! This week furniture makeover DIY s!!! I will show you 4 chalk painted furniture pieces that are easy to do for the chalk painting beginner! First, I will show you how to chalk paint a bedroom dresser using a colour wash technique with a stencil border! Next, off to the kitchen, I will show you how to do a modern dining room table set makeover by adding boucle fabric to the chair seat cushions and giving a fresh new look to the table with a white chalk paint wash to give a drift wood look! Next, I will take an old night table and give it a fresh new boho look by replacing the handles and chalk painting it to have a natural earthy look! Finally, I will show you how to create a chalk painted textured look in this buffet hutch sideboard makeover using baking powder and chalk paint!

My favourite this week were you first 3, can't really put them in any order as feel they all complemented each other in colours and textures, the last one,well I love the effect and texture but just thought a little dark,but that's because I'm not staging this house to be sold and dont know the lay out of the property, it's not personal so please dont take it that way, as love your personal style. Think it's always lovely and humbling to see that this family genuinely loved the picture of their girls you did for them, as its sit up yrs later.😍😍😍👏👏👏❤❤❤

This buffet sideboard is absolutely beautiful! A work of art. And who thought of baking powder and paint. I can’t wait to try your technique although you are a true artist and I will have to work at it. Thanks for the beautiful pieces you have created and the wonderful ideas.

I can so relate to mobile work and so much stippling! It’s after midnight here and I just got home not quite an hour ago from working on my mother-in-law’s kitchen. We are on phase 2 - redoing countertops with a faux granite paint job, as well as installing a tile backsplash and hanging plant shelves. I’ve already completed the painting of all her cabinets and I built her a new island with a gorgeous plank top. Lots of work, but she’s thrilled with everything so far and I’m getting work lined up just from people who see what I’ve done there already.
I love all the makeovers today, but that buffet is just beautiful! Great job!! 🙂

Loved this tutorial. The light whitewash is beautiful. Love the dining table and chairs. I think I’m finally going to get a sander. Have been just using pads. But would love to change some of my darker furniture and I think it would make it a bit easier. What a nice friend!

I’m doing a bedroom around an antique silk screen and mirror. I love oriental art. Do you have ideas for transforming my traditional bed to make the room more cohesive? I’ve painted the walls a creamy bright white to accent the larger blossoms. The background is gold with sweet birds and a flowering orange vine. The leaves on the vine are a mossy grayish green with shadows of a blue green. I can’t wait for your response.

I love those handles on the seagrass baskets. Would be very easy to create with dowel and twine. Great projects. Bubba is adorable.
