If this movie is one you grew up with, if you were a teenager when it was new, then there's a 100 percent chance that if you watch it today, it brings a tear to your eye at some point. It exemplifies the best of our times. Times that flew by faster than we would have believed possible. 40 years ago....but it was only yesterday.
This brings me back! Her best friend in the movie reminds me so much of someone I went to high school with in 1989, spitting image. We almost hooked up but decided not to because we were good friends. I often think back and regret that decision.
That kid is Adam Rifkin...he was a 16 year old that was an extra in this movie. He asked John Hughes if he could stay on after his parts were done and shadow him as he wanted to be a director someday. Hughes was open to it and Adam Rifkin went to have a successful career as a movie director.
I'm still watching this scene and I'm old AF! I love his confidence. But the girls.. Jake wow 😮😮 Molly looks very beautiful till this day. Classic John Hughes movies❤️
0:06 Kids born after 1990 could totally mistake this person for texting on his phone. I had to do a double-take on that, and remembered that we had handheld electronic games in the late 1970s. I've still got my Mattel Electronics Football from 1977.
I was looking for this comment. I was born in 86 and I guess my parents were just cheap cause I remember nothing but gameboy, game gear, and tiger electronic thingies. It totally looked like he had a flip phone or sliding one with the keypad
0:01-0:40 The music there was Henry Mancini's theme from the TV show Peter Gunn in case anybody was wondering. 1:28 / 1:29 / 1:30 / 1:31 Those are the primary chords of Ray Anthony's main theme from the iconic cop show TV show Dragnet.
The way Anthony Michael Hall says "Alright" then his tongue comes out near the corner of his mouth just kills me every time. He was brilliant as The Geek.
Sixteen Candles was as close to being a perfect movie as possible. So many different characters with so many different personalities. Beware young people, this movie is totally un PC, better take a sedative before watching.
1:14 "Pretty Intense huh? over" Then Cusack says from the best I can tell "More axe to the Max, over" I've always wondered what this meant. Watching it in slow motion He clearly says something like "More axe, to the max" . But in Any 16 candels script I've seen it just says "To the Max over" What is the More Axe meaning?
All the chicks wanted all the chads when I was in high school. But I never, ever imagined 35 years ago that it would evolve into the mating crisis that we see today.
Ho occhi solo per te Marco ma sei comunque libero di vedere chi vuoi ti auguro Marco di trovare la persona giusta che sappia prendersi cura di te e che sappia renderti felice
Say whatever you want about The Geek, but at least he's not self conscious, and is upfront about what he wants, unlike Jake!
He looked pretty self conscious about passing gas in public 🕺💥😃
Man, I went to high school in the 80s and I definitely would have been in his crew. I only wish I would have had his confidence back then! Lol
And one fantastic head of hair.
@slim864gvg6 I wish I had his confidence now, of course the rules have changed but still.
He’s so ahead of his time and alpha about it!
Still one of my favorite movies ever.
..pure 80's ! and great music
Anthony Michael Hall makes a total fool out of himself, and looks cool doing it.
I Would Like To Make A Anthony Michael Hall Halloween Costume From The 80s
I Do Speak Anthony Michael Hall
This movie & the 80s what a time to be alive!! 🎉❤
His friends all laughing at him always makes me crack up.
He honestly looked so good in this scene
1:30 alright, I knew you’d come around,crank that sistah😂😂😂
Love this scene lol Farmer has more confidence and self esteem than me here lol

Random kid standing still in the middle of the dance floor. 😅😂
Yes 🤣🤣
At 1:50, that dude cracks me up lol! 🤣🤣🤣

Ted had some MOVES. Even attempting a dance split before the fart but bro gets a solid 10
2:17 - Him letting a fart rip as he attempts the splits gets me every damn time. 🤣
Also, the fart from Hall’s character as Molly Ringwald’s character runs out the door. I didn’t realize it until now. Lol.
I just rewinded it, and heard the hall fart 😅😂. I never heard it before.
Always loved those spinning dance moves he does
These freshmen are A LOT cooler than the ones at my school!

Does it still work?
@@Mr_Clean Yep. It's in great shape, too... as is my Coleco Pac Man mini-arcade game in its original box.

Love that Oingo Boingo song
Same!!! Oingo boingo is so amazing
Every kid in the 80s knew they were cool with zero doubt.
Yes, yes we did.
WHAT MAKES THIS SCENE SPECIAL IS THE SONG.....
My fave scene from the movie.
Spandau Ballet-True!
I still can't believe this is the same guy as the star in the Dead Zone Series :)..... love me some Micheal Hall !
Remember this 40 long years ago! 1:27🙀

Ted: We'll see about that, my man.
The way Anthony Michael Hall says "Alright" then his tongue comes out near the corner of his mouth just kills me every time. He was brilliant as The Geek.
The blank look in his eyes while he’s dancing 😂
Greatest comedic teen film EVER!😂
Weird how radically different Anthony Hall's characters are here and in Breakfast Club are.
Its called acting for a reason....
@@shooter7a it’s more in the writing/story. The character was completely different. Ted is like the Breakfast Club character on coke or something.
I love Molly Ringwald’s expression when she first sees him
Sure do miss the 80s.
@1:33 I love how he sticks his tongue out just a bit.
Idunno what’s more funnier 1:28 or 1:30 😂
Sixteen Candles was as close to being a perfect movie as possible. So many different characters with so many different personalities.

if they’re not already on some drugs that is
The good old days!❤😂❤😂❤
Molly's face!😂😂
Anthony Michael Hall & John Cusack!!❤❤❤
I've never heard it with headphones on. I never noticed the single little Whoop he says before his finals whoops. lol
A geek dancing with Samantha was 🤪🙃😝 I mean he must be like a dancing Chicken! 🐓 Oh man what a silly joke it was 😜😄😛
I love Breakfast Club but Have never seen this film! I must see it
It’s far funnier. Great movie. I try to watch once a year. I grew up smack dab in the middle of this era and it brings back a lot of funny memories.
Anthony Michael Hall dance hilarious scene 🤣
Farmer Ted cracks me up at 2:05!😂
random Dragnet theme out of nowhere
I think this movie still holds up
On point! 👌

Who sings that song and what's the name? After the geek says alright I'd knew you'd come around
I was Hall's age then. Made the movie even more relevant. But I was more shy like Jake..made for a mess of dances and events lol.

So cringe lol 😂❤
Quem aí já morreu levanta a mão pra cima! Já usavam Apple Vision Pro?
All Right

And she wants kids god forbid she will have crazy kids stop trying

Underpants
I never get why her hair was always so short in these movies...
Quien canta esa canción
Her face was cute, why hide it with long hair.
