Why is this making me emotional? It’s so pure and real. People just walking around enjoying their day and their music and we get a little cross section of their lives
Same! I’m a native New Yorker and this was really touching. It’s such a pure and simple way to connect with someone if only for a brief moment in a city where everyone is pretending to not have a second to spare. Would love to see an update to this. It would be especially touching now because it’s a safe way to connect with a stranger in a time where stranger literally means danger for many.
This guy must seem very friendly and approachable, everyone is so cool with talking to him and not even concerned with why he’s randomly asking them these questions lol
Back when this was filmed, people were generally less stressed and more carefree in general. They generally didn’t mind having a conversation for a few seconds out of their day with others too. Put simply, life was more simple.
What the other guy said but also notice how they always keep walking and walk away straight after. It's a pretty dry subject so I wouldn't use it as an opener too often, plus it's pretty hard to change the subject to something else smoothly. Also I'd say it comes down to talking with strangers one-on-one, but if they're in front of their friends it can be embarrassing to talk about their music taste.
Love how everyone is getting this in their recommended 10 years from its initial release honestly it feels so good to see poople able to talk to eachother.
I actually thought the coolest part of this video was how you can make really close guesses for all these people, and how everything about them (clothes, accent, attitude) perfectly reflected their music. Its cool that musical communities are still alive like that even if we don't really think of it as being so since its not black and white like 70's music culture
That last guy just threw a peeled banana in his plastic bag, went to grab his phone, and then realised he knew the song already. The "yep" was from a moment of conflict, where he realised he has to now sort out the peeled-banana-in-a-bag result from a completely avoidable set of actions
2:47 It's beautiful. She says Frank Sinatra as she keeps walking and those few seconds the camera stays there, showing us NYC landscape, made me feel great.
I love how with some of them, you can literally *see* how the song ties into their identity, and how it’s shaped them, and for others, it’s like, “there’s no way in helllll , you’re actually listening to that.” “you dont even look like the type”😭

@@Ttaba99 in effetti forse hai ragione, non so perché abbia avuto così poca fiducia nelle persone ahahah
@@Ttaba99 Credo che tu abbia ragione, i giovani di oggi penso siano generalmente piu disposti a interagire con sconosciuti in un modo garbato
I’m really interested if someone were to do this today and you’d get to see the big difference in peoples music taste within a decade
Probably more anime songs
I feel like we’d get more repeats
No the music taste today is horrible. Everyone would be saying garbage like WAP
everyone would be listening to BTS
@@frenchtoast2319 😐
That dude listening to more than a woman is gold, just when the song is coming back this gets recommended
Why is this making me emotional? It’s so pure and real. People just walking around enjoying their day and their music and we get a little cross section of their lives
Music touches our soul
It’s because you aren’t used
To seeing that vulnerability on a NYC street imo.
He needs to recreate this video for the 2020s. (I feel old af now).
@@chilliam00 ya FR I’m surprised I haven’t seen any videos like this before I’m barely discovering this now and it’s a awesome idea love music 🎶
He has a sign with him.
I mean... it's New York. Getting stopped by a random stranger is a daily occurrence in a lot of big cities.
Well he did show some of the people not responding. They are a few but people back then are usually cooler to having a camera pointed at them.
Happier times
2:43 when she walks away is like a classic New York movie scene lmao
2:46 Listening to Frank Sinatra while strolling through New York just sounds like such a vibe
that lady at 2:43 makes me think like she's the main character at the beginning of the movie and it's soooo cool
Ikr it felt like a start of a movie or something
It could be an ending as well ahaha a good ending and then there's a sequel to come c;
@@kekw5153 yeah right?
Yes it’s so New York for some reason lol
She’s so beautiful, too! And the way she said “Frank Sinatra🙂”
2:06 this guy was so proud about lollipop 😅 he probably thought “yeah that guy stopped me at the right time”
Ahaha yeah that little point is what does it like “damn right” 😂😂😂
He looks like Mouse from the matrix

He really said: 😌😌😌
Bruh I read this right as the dude popped up
Ppl actually are super comfortable with talking when the convo starts about music
This was 10 years ago, people were far more social than nowadays.

God I love music
People were more comfortable with human interaction in general back then
Love the bob Marley guy he looks so happy positive and calmmm
I love how they actually put the song they said in the background
frrrr here’s a playlist for them too :) open.spotify.com/user/sohamsta/playlist/3knipwPdXL8ec7tKCLoehB?si=zOw64g5SSK26vIce5CsoFA
Love how everyone is getting this in their recommended 10 years from its initial release honestly it feels so good to see poople able to talk to eachother.

They can still talk to eachother lol

Songs by Frank Sinatra always give that vibe
just swankily walking into the distance

I love that it’s impossible to predict the song, people are surprising
Agreed. It challenges our stereotypes...bit I was not surprised by the Oasis and Korn guys.
If you didn't guess that guy was listening to Bob Marley then I don't know what you could have lol
@@rayallen73 came here to say this😂😂😂
I actually thought the coolest part of this video was how you can make really close guesses for all these people, and how everything about them (clothes, accent, attitude) perfectly reflected their music.
Its cool that musical communities are still alive like that even if we don't really think of it as being so since its not black and white like 70's music culture
except the guy who looked like kid cudi listening to kid cudi
That last guy just threw a peeled banana in his plastic bag, went to grab his phone, and then realised he knew the song already. The "yep" was from a moment of conflict, where he realised he has to now sort out the peeled-banana-in-a-bag result from a completely avoidable set of actions
😂😂
lmfao
5:30
He didn’t wanna be caught on camera eating a banana I guess 🤣
What is your major bro 😂
4:15 I love how he's just chilling, knitting his hats. Cool he actually makes his product.
2:47 It's beautiful. She says Frank Sinatra as she keeps walking and those few seconds the camera stays there, showing us NYC landscape, made me feel great.
Poetry in motion

RIP to all the Ipods that were never charged up again
RIP to all the emule music that disappeared

Mines stopped charging in 2013. Man I had over 4,000 songs on that thing dude lol
I still use mine. Really helps me stay off my phone.
I love how with some of them, you can literally *see* how the song ties into their identity, and how it’s shaped them,
and for others, it’s like, “there’s no way in helllll , you’re actually listening to that.” “you dont even look like the type”😭
also. does this guy know his videos are doing numbers? somebody should tell him ..
also. can we get another one? to remind people how much we all love each other? lol
