Lexus makes cars that you have to fall in love with, over time. A quick test drive round the block from the dealership isn't enough. A buddy of mine bought a GS-F recently. He's so glad he did! He was a bit skeptical when he first got it. But he's in love now. He doesn't want to sell it ever. I've been for a ride a few times, and my goodness, it's a nice car! Interior is weird, but in the way the Japanese do their cars. The engine is a beaut! That Yamaha fettled V8 is something.
upgradedBACON i agree with you. You find a lot of thoughtful details over time and really appreciate the car. I miss my IS, hopefully I’ll eventually get an LS or LC
@@jose7777777777777777 I find that quite a general thing with the 90s and early 00s Japanese cars too. I'm in NZ, so there's quite a variety in terms of Japanese cars available. My 2002 JDM Subaru Legacy STI is great. It's a car that needs to be appreciated by being driven. But these days, Lexus still stands out to be different - which I admire a lot. The only thing I don't like about Lexus is their 10 speed auto - it's geared weirdly, like 6 drive gears, and 4 over drive gears.
I agree. I've always been a fan, primarily for their undeniably superior longevity, but I know a lot of people who hate them...mostly for superficial reasons.
@@dlg5485 I have to totally agree on the longevity. If treated right, you can easily get 300,000km and more still out of 90s and early 00s Japanese cars. BMW, Mercedes and Audi may have more HP, but they use crap parts and will breakdown and need far more maintenance to keep them on the road while they lose their value 4x faster than Lexus. My Porsche lost 50% of its USED value in 2 years and cost me $18,000 in repair bill with less than 30k on the odometer when I dumped that dog. Buy a german car for 100k with non stop trips to their service center for ridiculous issues and high costing prices. Lexus on the other hand is reliable, parts are cheap, and you wont have to worry about anything. I have a 2014 GS350 f sport. Havent had one issue and if there ever was its completely covered.
My uncle has driven Lexus for years from lower level up to a new LS500 like in this video that he just got and he swears by them. Never had any major issues and while I've never gotten to drive they are very impressive as a passenger...lol.
It cracks me up when you guys review an LS 500 F Sport and state at the start that the F package is an appearance package and then are surprised when it doesn't handle like a 911. It's a $100,000 luxury car that will outlast any German Luxury vehicle by decades.
This thing is one of the sexiest cars that Iv ever seen. Pics dont do them justice. You have to see it in real life to appreciate this cars appearance.
I have a 2017 LS460, been to the dealer a couple times since this LS500 came out, the LS500 is pretty looking, but I think they missed the mark a little on this one, things don’t feel as nice hand wise, the interior is a lot smaller, the interior arm rests flex under the slightest push or pull, and $80,000+ convince me why I want a V6 I don’t care about if the V6 has more power, it’s the float along feeling of a V8, it’s not 0-60 you look for in a rolls Royce or a LS, it’s comfort and feel. The LS460 totally felt like twice the car of the ES, 2017 ES vs LS the wood, the leather, the buttons, the interior space etc, a step above, but the new LS just doesn’t feel like steps above. I’m sorry but unless Lexus gets the picture I don’t think I’d be a buyer. I’m a big dude and when I feel crammed into an $80,000+ car I’m not a buyer.

@@SlowWhip we are speaking to value for money. So yea, a GSF would be a better choice is you wanted a larger sedan with power, that's not an ES. Like you said, it's cheaper.
F-Sport is way beyond an appearance upgrade. F-Sport adds massive brake upgrades, suspension upgrades & with performance package gets rear-wheel steering and variable gear ratio steering.
yea good luck with this statement. We all know how shitty f sport packages are. They are nothing but stupid black emblems. The only good f sport car was LFA and maaaayyybe LCF
Huy Thai you have to be one of those biggest ignorant I’ve ever met on RUclips. Who are you kidding kid. Oh let me guess would you call a GSF OR RCF “f-variant” cars? they are still shit when it comes to overall performance. Even a trash c300 car have better handling than all those “f-variant” cars. Why would I say Lexus Is bad? They are good for what they are capable of which is comfort and maaaaybe somewhat fun but that’s it. Your f-sport don’t even come close to “Amg line” or “m packages” so I’d rather not go there. Before making an argument go drive all three, idiot.
Huy Thai you are fukn dumb who doesn’t understand my point. No matter what the hell you bring compared to German performance vehicles, your f-variant for f performance won’t stand shit. Why are you so desperate trying to prove they still are better ?? You are just looking dumb. It’s funny you assumed I’ve never sat in GSF. I have sat and drove gsF and RCF and LFA. But why am I wasting time trying to prove my point? now take your Prius child ass somewhere else
I own one, and to me that's the biggest improvement: it's no longer a "me-too" German, it actually looks like it's from the people who made Macross and Gundam.
"Almost fun" from Matt Farah is a solid conclusion for a full size luxo barge. Plus an awesome interior, likely stellar reliability, and a fair price. Well done Lexus!
I own a 2014 LS 460 F sport. And I couldn’t agree more with Matt about the new model. Particularly the exterior styling. I like the front. I think it is aggressive but classy. But from the side and especially from the rear I think it looks like an average of several other midsize hum drum family sedans. Not becoming of a $100,000 luxury car. I have sat in one of these at the dealership, and while I will agree that it is a more compact driver seating position, it is not cramped for my 6 foot tall frame. It’s just exquisite the interior build quality.
I am 8 minutes in and i just can't imagine what else there is to talk about the LS500... The review could be summed up as.. Nice luxury car. High Quality. Not Remarkable in any other way. lol .. thanks for the One Take Matt.
I had a rented 2018 Merc C300 that had blind-spot monitoring and stopped vehicle notifications, but did not have auto braking. Driving around LA, I honestly found it super useful. Made planning lane changes much easier and the stopped vehicle notification did actually catch my attention once and gave me plenty of time to brake for it myself. That sounds like the perfect middle ground to me. I've never had an accident in 12 years of driving without it, but I can definitely see the value. I haven't driven a car with automatic braking but I could definitely see how it could be amazingly annoying. I know Toyota's old traction control was idiotically invasive in my dad's old 07 XLE. A tiny hint of tire-slip on acceleration and the engine would buck. Drove me bananas. Took away any sense of fun you could get out of that v6.
Hi there trust me bud this Lexus IS priced low 103 $ thousands is ok but it should be at least 120 $ thousands why because it’s worth every penny quality quality quality quality reliable reliable reliable and resale values this car will never give you any problems for 20 years straight if you take care of it German and British cars not worth it remember Lexus LS 500 is made for the VIP owners only and the Ls owners only can understand it This one nice size quality car that we all trust 100 percent Thank you LEXUS for delivering the best in business
This is the new engine realease everyone has been waiting for. The vechicle chosen to put it has an attractive price point. The engine is the news, thats it.
Not sure on Lexus' sales data but I've been seeing an overwhelming number of their newer models on the roads this last year, far more than the German alternatives. It's certainly nicer to look at than anything missing an M or AMG badge. If I were spending free money, I'd nab a Alfa Guilia Quad, but there's still that doubt of long-term longevity. Hard to go wrong with a Lexus in that department.
Great review Matt. I think I disagree with your comment that the F Sport package may not be worth it. I think the F Sport’s big Brembo brakes alone add significantly to the value of the cars performance capabilities. I do however, wish Lexus would allow you to purchase the F Sport package with the better leather interior options, rather than the black, red/black and white/black choices that are only available.
The new LS is a beautiful stunning head turning sporty elegant luxury Car that has been improved from the the old LS which was slow boring, and was more driven by these in the elder age bracket, this New LS is an every age LS with a bite and a joy to drive and have fun in and very flexible and athletic as an everyday drivers car .
Love the guy doing 33mph - so many of these people in Britain. Perfectly normal road with 60mph limit and they're doing about 40. To hell with anyone else who wants to get anywhere - do they ever notice the queue of people behind them?
This motor should have went into the new Supra. This LS500 is the best luxury sedan for the money. This motor is more potent then any standard base engine in the S class and 7 series and more powerful. Even at 100k (which I think the car very well worth) it's fully loaded with every option where Benz and BMW still nickel and dime you at that price. The fit finish and well matching and even beyond the German cars. On another note your 100 percent right about the new ES. Lexus made the ES too nice for its own good.
B58 is much better motor literally in every single way possible. Also the transmisison is best auto on the market. They shouldve simply taken the s58 from new m3/4. While therr still wouldve been a few "purist" (retards in that case) that wouldve still compalined. But then it wouldve actually had seriousssss performance and wouldve been special. Regardless the b58 supra can prob set ring time close to lexus lfa(not the ring edition) anyways lol.
I love all generations of the LS, however I gotta say I miss the conservative styling. I don't dislike the LS500, but I think I'd save myself $90k and go buy an LS430.
Happy to hear that my initial thoughts about the options on this car were correct. I'd just buy myself a base model LS500 (only option being the nose lift, if that's possible) and use the money I saved in options to get the Artisan Spirits kit, and some very nice wheels. Really enjoyed the video, Matt! Keep on doing what you're doing.
Rhadiqul It's neither. The ES used to be a Camry-based sedan by the way, until the previous genenration which became an Avalon-based sedan. That tradition also continues with the new ES that's recently out.
Again, Matt sums up the LS perfectly. I don't think this car is resonating with the crowd looking for a true luxury flagship the same way that the S/7/A8 do. I've only seen a few on the road and it's very easy to confuse them for a Buick LaCrosse or Infiniti Q70. The new Avalon has a more distinctive character to its design. The interior just doesn't look occasional the same way that the S-Class does. For the money and performance, I'd get the GS-F, E43, or M550i and buy a Miata with the money leftover.
LOL Calling me a liar that I've never seen one. Fuck off and go live in your denial. And what does "this car is an fsport" have ANYTHING to do with my point?
I love lexus owned a 2001 GS and an 08 LS460 but when it was time to get something sporty I had to go with an Audi. Honestly I'll always love lexus but for sportiness others simply do it better.
The LS always gave me the impression that it was meant more as a chauffeur's car than a driver's car; it focuses a lot on passenger creature comforts and, at least by Lexus' standards, always felt kind of like the driving dynamics were a secondary focus. I doubt they're trying to combat, say, the Kia Stinger GT with this new F-Sport trim, but it might be an attempt to revitalize a nameplate that's gone a bit tepid in recent years by introducing a model that's more dynamic and rewarding to drive while still maintaining the borderline-excessive levels of luxury therein. It's still not a fast car, and it won't necessarily put a smile on your face, but you'll at least be able to roll up to the Board of Directors meeting with a certain sense of satisfaction that you weren't getting from the luxury-brand status symbol alone. Mind you, if they come out with a full-on LS-F, I'm calling bullshit. :P
I like this car cuz it's different than the other big body luxury sedans ... It goes about the luxury lil different than other . However I miss the v8 and hopefully it will be one for the lsf ...
While I see the ES comparison due to the surprisingly small amount of space in the LS and lack of reclining rear seats, the materials, quality and engines don't compare. If anything, a GSF would be faster and come closer to that LS level.
I've not owned one but I did sit in it at a car show. It's fine, just like many cars have comfortable seats, but in the A8/S class/7 Series/LS category, the only thing I'm interested in when it comes to rear seating is how much more space you get compared to smaller cars and what features they offer. If they're just regular seats without any special features, I don't see the point since you can get that in a lot of cars, and if you want performance and handling, you have to go for a smaller car anyway.
Personally I love the exterior. But I kind of hate the interior like the dash, controls, buttons. I like the older theme but futuristic version. But that volume knob and tune knob in one is pretty cool.
I drive a 2015 GS350 and absolutely love it (it's also AWD). What would you say are the chief differences between the GS and the LS (besides physical size)?
That Cobra's plate sounds like a Star Trek reference, "warp factor 10," which makes it extra ironic that he's just cruising along and getting overtaken by a Lexus LS.
I was expecting this vid to be about the LC500 since in the last seconds of the last drive you said so. Bit disappointed. Great content tho! Still enjoyed it. Matt will you also do one on the LC? (I know you've driven one on track)
Could you imagine a German luxury car with 980k miles on it?!? I hate the thought of one with just 80k miles on it. There's reason Lexus holds it's value.
Hi Matt, has your LS had a new or reconditioned engine or transmission or anything major replaced in its life? I'm in Australia, you can pick up second hand Lexus' for quite low prices here considering what they cost new. Quite often they're just as cheap if not cheaper than equivalent Toyotas. Maybe because of the perceived cost of servicing, and higher fuel use? Fuel is expensive here.
Patrick Archibald the engine has never been opened, but the trans has had two, maybe three rebuilds. It has cost me $17000 in maintenance to do 95k miles in my car.
Great review. Matt, I have a Lexus that also has high miles. I was wondering if you knew or could recommend a mechanic who is good with maintaining cars like these ? I am in the LA area as well. Much appreciated.
Matt gets some constructive criticism on his Instagram on not talking to his fans like they're pieces of shit on the bottom of his shoe and then blocks all comments on all posts...
a few weeks ago i convinced the local lexus dealer to let me drive the 2019 LS around for a bit, and it mostly just solidified the love i have for my 1999 LS and all its V8ness and open airy interior. my other feeling was that the 500 didn't feel *that* much faster and the throttle response isn't even close. it was a very nice car to drive and extremely quiet and well put together but the overall feeling is just too much form over function to be an LS.
in that level of pricing i wouldn't care about the MPG's. if i pay more than 100k i want a v8 not a screaming 6 cylinder turbo. Toyota need to reevaluate themselves. This engine would have been great in the new supra.
I love the ES 350 F-Sport, GS 350, GS 450h, LS 500 and the LC500. I don't like the head lights on the LC much, but it's still nice. If I were to buy any of those cars, the ES, or the GS, or the LS, I'd swap out those garbage tires and brakes. Lexus has finally hit it out of the fuckin park with their products. I can't believe it.
You are wrong! it's F sport with Performance package! not "appearance package". Also Performance package is on optional and only available on RWD. You are totally misrepresenting the LS
You know a car is insulated when you can't hear a cobra go by
I read this while the video was playing and thought “What cobra?” *Cobra drives by* “OH...” haha.

@@SlowWhip nvm im retarded this isn't a ES video lawl
LMFAO fake ass kid on the internet ahaha, nigga shut the fuck up already
I'll say this much, if Matt is behind the wheel, I'll watch immediately!
Zach is getting better with every video imo
Mick To imo you’re wrong. Sorry
Da70Dude me too
They finally designeg it to look like it's from Japan, love it.
I own one, and to me that's the biggest improvement: it's no longer a "me-too" German, it actually looks like it's from the people who made Macross and Gundam.
@@ischmidt Exactly the thought that got into my head the first time i saw it.
At least try to spell.
if looks like a dammm Mazda from the side !
@@ischmidt I chose an xj over this for the sporty feel
That’s a lot of miles on his ‘96 😅
"Almost fun" from Matt Farah is a solid conclusion for a full size luxo barge.
It’s just exquisite the interior build quality.
skip to 1:34, close your eyes and try and guess what car goes past from the sound only
R8 V10
Pogapog lmfao
coldteeth24 the ambulance sounds like an R8 v10?
V6 hahaha🤮 I'll stick with the V8s while they are around.
I am 8 minutes in and i just can't imagine what else there is to talk about the LS500... The review could be summed up as.. Nice luxury car. High Quality. Not Remarkable in any other way. lol .. thanks for the One Take Matt.
Man I just love sport sedans. Older and newer.
This car is so beautiful. Lexus IS synonymous with smooth rides so I will start saving up for this Lexus LS
The safety system comes standard. I bought a new one a few months ago and it's awesome. I did a muffler delete
Lexus needs to take your input before releasing their line of cars. Great review as always!!
Best car around, way better build quality than S-class.
I agree with the review. I am a fan of the older model.
Engine/Exhaust sound is great.
It’d almost be nice, in cars like this, to do a quick city segment to see how it drives/rides there (potholes, visibility, etc)
This is Lexus and it's LS, This car is not meant to be sporty and priority is luxury and comfort. With small portion of sport
The ES is a huge car by itself...this LS must be a monster size car.
LS430 are fantastic cars very well engineered.
Ah, the Norelco ls500, shaving up the corners.
Camry? Rad? That’s the loftiest praise Camry’s ever had. Worthy of further investigation.
cincinnatislider If you paid close attention, he said it was rad as a daily driver. The brain’s fun to use once in a while, try it.
@@cincinnatislider but it's cool if you're a dick to the Camry😜
It's not a Camry, it's more of an Avalon
Rhadiqul It's neither. The ES used to be a Camry-based sedan by the way, until the previous genenration which became an Avalon-based sedan. That tradition also continues with the new ES that's recently out.
You're just in love with the ES. I drive this car dailay I don't see any of those things you mentioned in fact it feels a lot better than the S63
Did you just say the understeer hog Audi's are sportier than an isf and gsf
Lexus are not dynamic vehicles compared to European cars, an xj is a lot faster on a canyon
@@laronda10 yeah 100%
@@scalways have you actually driven a modern f sport or F series? They're way sportier than the s-lines and S series
@@laronda10 No not an F line. I'm sure it would change my opinion
You said, "DOPE". Your Gen X is showing. :)
Ok......
People say Lexus are boring..I disagree..they were boring around 05..but now💪
lol love: "just drive better, pay attention, save yourself 3,000 dollars" I tell people this all the time when they ask about cars and options to get.
Anoop Mathew death by statistics.
I recently got the ES350 F Sport! So much more worth it over the LS. At 100k there’s so many other awesome cars for the money
I'm hoping for that video when Matt's Lexus hits the million mile mark.
Great editing & well done video. We are Lexus shopping (our 4th Lexus) but new to the LS. cheers.
Outside of not having a touchscreen I’m feeling this car I honestly barely can use the touchscreen when I’m driving anyways in my Hyundai Sonata
Personally I love the exterior. But I kind of hate the interior like the dash, controls, buttons. I like the older theme but futuristic version. But that volume knob and tune knob in one is pretty cool.
The standard LS500 is elegant enough for me
Toyota. WHY IS THIS ENGINE NOT IN THE NEW SUPRA!!!?
Because Toyota engineers actually know what they're doing and realize this Motor is too much power for the 3000 pound Supra.
I hope Toyota, Lexus, and Yamaha collab again to make another brand new car that will be use inline 6......
3JZ ? 🤔
My lord your smoking crack ! really STFU if you don't know what your talkin about !
Because the new Supra is a BMW

I drive a 2015 GS350 and absolutely love it (it's also AWD). What would you say are the chief differences between the GS and the LS (besides physical size)?
That Cobra's plate sounds like a Star Trek reference, "warp factor 10," which makes it extra ironic that he's just cruising along and getting overtaken by a Lexus LS.
Shut down by the 33 mph minivan. Love it!
The f is all about the suspension. It is different from the standard LS. Oh and it’s 416 hp and 442 ft lbs oh torque.
Are you thinking about buying this car?
great vid. is that a fact f sport purely cosmetic?
1:34 That is the funniest engine bay shot I've ever seen, it's like someone put Xzibit in charge of plastic covers
I was expecting this vid to be about the LC500 since in the last seconds of the last drive you said so. Bit disappointed. Great content tho! Still enjoyed it. Matt will you also do one on the LC? (I know you've driven one on track)
GS F > LS 500. But LS 500 still a clean car. Lovely torque from this engine. Bella!
Nice looking inside and out come a long way
no one wants half or the front wheel drive ES, but as a loaner its really nice
Lost a bit of that Roar. Still sounds good.
Sounds awful and fake.
Could you imagine a German luxury car with 980k miles on it?!? I hate the thought of one with just 80k miles on it. There's reason Lexus holds it's value.
It's great, I buy this car, I'm a keep it for 15 years and get another.
I love your watch, what brand and model is it ?
greetings from Germany
So what about the GS 350 F sport. How does that compare? Thinking about getting one of those.
Matt gets some constructive criticism on his Instagram on not talking to his fans like they're pieces of shit on the bottom of his shoe and then blocks all comments on all posts...
Pretty childish eh?
a few weeks ago i convinced the local lexus dealer to let me drive the 2019 LS around for a bit, and it mostly just solidified the love i have for my 1999 LS and all its V8ness and open airy interior. my other feeling was that the 500 didn't feel *that* much faster and the throttle response isn't even close. it was a very nice car to drive and extremely quiet and well put together but the overall feeling is just too much form over function to be an LS.
The older Ls are amazing cars I haven’t driven a 2019 yet I’m naturally aspirated v8 fan there super reliable
What! Matt's '97 Lexus LS never reached a Million miles yet???
UNBELIEVABLE.
This thing looks fantastic.
in that level of pricing i wouldn't care about the MPG's. if i pay more than 100k i want a v8 not a screaming 6 cylinder turbo. Toyota need to reevaluate themselves. This engine would have been great in the new supra.
Really good quality video😱👍👍👍
Great review! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for Keepin IT real!!! Do a review on the new CT6 so I can make a decision, LOL
What is different from LS and ES I could just by 2 ES's for the price of LS what makes it worth that
I love the ES 350 F-Sport, GS 350, GS 450h, LS 500 and the LC500. I don't like the head lights on the LC much, but it's still nice. If I were to buy any of those cars, the ES, or the GS, or the LS, I'd swap out those garbage tires and brakes.
Lexus has finally hit it out of the fuckin park with their products. I can't believe it.
matts back again - woohooooo! i morning dump in your honor today sir
Not really. He only does press cars and special episodes.
The ES might end up "killing" other Lexus sedans, especially the GS, but I really hope Lexus doesn't go down that route.
Can you do a review on it please
You are wrong! it's F sport with Performance package! not "appearance package". Also Performance package is on optional and only available on RWD. You are totally misrepresenting the LS
I thought the numbers were for engine displacement, ie 500 for 5l, 300 for 3l etc, or did Lexus move away from that with the downsizing?
Error Creator there are not many manufactures that still do that.
Is it RWD? Open diff or LSD?
Why is your watch on the wrong hand??😫
