We appreciate it! Summer scouting and preparation can be incredibly fun. It is always exciting to drive around and looking for velvet bucks on summer nights!
Another great episode guys. Summer scouting for me is a waste of time. Most of the older deer I have history with have a completely different summer range than fall. I setup my stands based on prior years movement. But, I also have hunted the same property for 40 years. If I had to start hunting a new property, summer scouting to me would be more useful. Thanks for keeping it real guys.
The fall ranges vs summer ranges can make it difficult for scouting velvet bucks at times. We have a number of bucks we know of based on history that move their fall ranges on to our spots and we see the a few fields over in the summer. Others do the exact opposite. Like Warren said in the episode, shed season can be one of your biggest scouting tools. With hunting a new property, we agree the benefits of summer scouting could be much better. We appreciate the support on the podcast and love producing it every week!
I do have to say I'm huge on driving around glassing. It's became a nightly routine with my 2 older kids, seeing what we can find for deer in what area. Every year from late August/early September to October 1 we have our route we take every night.
As David said, driving the dirt roads in the summer looking for bucks is always a great way to get the kids and new hunters involved and seeing deer. It's also just a great way to spend quality time with the kids. We always get excited around this time of year to see what new bucks are around and who made it through the winter. It never gets old seeing a bachelor group lining a hill!
Summer scouting is one of those things that I believe is kind of a confidence booster. Some of the information that you might gather might not be any good by the time the season comes I think it’s just part of the 365 lifestyle. It’s part of deer hunting , greatly appreciate what you guys do. Love the faith and family aspect.
I think summer scouting is a very useful tool. You gain an inventory of the bucks who will stay on the property and those who may leave and visit during the rut. Also, in TN we have a velvet season! So summer scouting is great to pattern and kill big bucks.
I think they may be referring to me being the angry brother since I disagreed completely with the no man’s zone podcast, but anyway summer scouting definitely can be help get you ready for the fall. Good convo!! Keep it up!
Hey man we love seeing the opinions both you and your brother give on the podcast. Whether you agree with what we say or not! We love the conversation it brings. Summer scouting can definitely have it's perks, especially on new piece of ground that your are hunting. Any information you can gather can be beneficial! We appreciate the weekly support👍!
Nice to know who is still around but for my farm I’m fall range for most local bucks and rarely do I kill bucks that were on me in July. My best scouting is just after season on late season food I plant.
🤣It's funny how we have bother you brothers questioning who is the "angry" one. We always appreciate the support every week from both of you guys, it is fun getting the comments!
In agreement, it should be 1 for all or none private or public. It's not gonna affect people like us because we will be out there, sun or shine camera or no camera. All i do is hunt public wouldnt want it any other way, either. We will lose a lot of these new hunters because they love the trail cameras. So where does that put us in the long run as a WHOLE? I could be selfish and say awesome gonna be fewer people in the woods, etc, but long-term hunting, what does that do? Im not wrong. We will lose a LOT of new hunters.
I think it should just be cell cams but honestly if I could afford cell cams I would use them. I I think it’s all around stupid and on private land they could go f themselves.
Love the podcast as always, I Love summer evenings scouting. Keep up the Good work.. looking forward to antlers in August.
