Devon & Cornwall Police have an appeal on their website for witnesses to an electric bike colliding with a woman causing a fractured and dislocated ankle requiring on-going treatment
Ebikes are restricted to 15 mph, if it has been modified to go faster it is illegal and if you have an accident you will be prosecuted for ridding a motor vehicle with no insurance, mot or tax plus the injury caused to anyone. Most "Just Eat" Ebikes are illegal but they are ridden by the people that don't have to obey the law or need a passport to enter the country.
Meh peddle assist ebikes (with peddles) are usually 350-500 watts usually 17 mph limited. Motorcycle looking ebikes like the sur-ron are 3000w-6000w peak power 50mph often ridden by hooded distributors of illegal stuff which is how they afford it.
Same applies to electic scooters! Some can do 60mph+! I was driving home at 30 and was tailgated by an electric scooter so close he could have opened my boot!
If the police actually enforced the law on e-bikes there wouldn't be an issue really. They should be 250w and limited to 15mph, so if you see them going faster than that it's an illegal one, as are all the throttle based ones. The worst ones are the conversions, they take a cheap bike and put a 1000w or more motor on them, the thing is with those is the brakes are not up to stopping that sort of weight and power.
I have a 750w and with effort I can get it up to 70km/h. Its needed for riding in traffic but you have to know to not use the power assist around pedestrians.
On a legal e-bike you wouldn’t beat a middle age man on a road bike even without the limiter. Most the scum I see are on e-motorbikes which are basically electric scramblers are are clearly illegal
Sorry mate , wattage means nothing , i can gear a low powered bike to do very fast speeds , in my young days as someone that liked speed long before motors where even thought of on bikes in suburbia id be often not far under the legal limit just with leg power , at the same time i rode on the road , not on the footpath , and did not ride like a reckless prick near pedestrians , and there is most of your problem , the rider.
with Hydraulic disc brakes they are fine even at 35 mph(private road) and all the 1000w kits do have limiters(15.5mph) to be legal just plug 2 wires together and when you want some offroad fun pull them apart .
E-scooters are almost as dangerous! A twelve year old on a scooter turned of the pavement without looking, fortunately I have been driving for sixty years and I had slowed down in anticipation that she may do this. I just don’t understand why parents are buying these for children. It means we will have even more more obese adults in the future as most are usually glued to a smart phone and do little exercise.
GB news has done a interview with Vauxhall chairman about their range of EVs…asked some positive anti EV questions, but got some evasive answers…Can see trouble ahead for Vauxhall
So many balaclava wearing idiots on these Surron types of electric bikes with many hitting 60mph on/off road. Used for all types of crimes. Any electric bike that does not meet the EAPC rules is classed as a motorcycle or moped and needs to be registered and taxed. You’ll need a driving licence to ride one and you must wear a crash helmet.
When I was a kid in Ontario, Canada 1959-1973, we always had to get a push bike licence.$1.50 a year if I remember correctly. No idea if they still have them.
Australia - I was driving at 60 kph yesterday and the electric scooter ahead of me was pretty close to that speed as it took a long time to overtake it.
E-Bikes, the legal ones are relatively safe, low speed mode of travel. Anything not using pedals or going faster than 15mph is a motor vehicle and users should be treated and subjected to the rules. But the average plod is ignorant, and scrolling through Facebook with a cup of coffee and a Greggs is so much easier.
I see those idiots on e-bikes that look like off-road bikes going up and down the roads, sometimes doing wheelies without helmets, scaring people witless! They are the kind of e-bikes that should never have been made in the first place! And they are ridiculously fast!
e-bikes really should not be very fast at all. The things are meant to be limited to 250 kW, 15.5 mph and not be powered by a throttle over 5 mph. May I suggest that the quick e-bikes you are complaining are the unregulated, unlicensed and totally illegal. The riders are therefore unlicensed and uninsured. They are already prohibited - what is lacking is enforcement. I suggest that as long as the riders don’t say any hurty words or misgender a bloke in a frock they’ll be free to carry on as they are.
In the Netherlands most kids have proper parents. Under say 100~200W or less than 20~25km/h any fatbike should be good. My car can also drive over the speed limit. Take out speeders that matter instead of harvesting all drivers via radar-traps.

Something does need to be done about e-bikes. Driving in a local town I often see kids riding on e-bikes going at speeds (very) close to 30. The way they ride on the road is dangerous, and then they bump onto the pavement and then whizz off at speed on pavements putting pedestrians in danger. There are legal and illegal e-bikes, and we need something to be done to take the illegal ones off the road. But if everything continues as it is, then I agree that someone will end up losing their life either on or as a result of an e-bike. Just something to think about, when pedestrians are hit by cyclists we are hearing more and more about serious injuries. Should there be some form of insurance that cyclists have to have, or are we happy that this situation is allowed to grow out of control?
In Japan, bicycles had number plates, because the huge amount of bikes dumped in cities.- Remember looking out my hotel window in Tokyo, and a council truck stop and starting , picking up abandoned bicycles- .. ;)
I witnessed an electric bike going at full pelt nearly take out a runner on a cycle path. On the way back home a car driver had pulled the bike rider over & was going mental at him so lord knows what had gone on there. I've seen the same electric bike locally several times since dodging pedestrians & traffic on footpaths & the road so only a matter of time before something serious happens.
I see kids as young as 8 years old riding e scooters obviously the parents have more money than sense and don't give a toss about their child being on the road with no safety equipment on they are illegal to ride in a public place and yet i see young and old traveling at speed zig zagging through pedestrians on a pedestrianised road and bikes traveling at speed and there are signs everywhere saying ( no cyclists).
Look into Irelands law around e-bikes and scooters next year it’s changing and from what I’ve heard you’ve to pay tax on bikes over 250w 25km/h and if it has a throttle Or above 600w scooters. The license plate doesn’t surprise me, they’ll be doing the new euro emissions from brake pads and tyres on them yet
Kids are not supposed to be on e bikes…..blame is on parents, i resent some people inferring that all e bikes/users are dangerous as its simply not true, what you cannot stop is miss use, i have no issue with those being prosecuted just like idiots in fast cars who lose control also killing injuring pedestrians.
With respect , bikes have been killing people and kids forever , you do not need a motor to make a bike a risk to life . Lets face it , all bikes with or without motors are inherently dangerous ! This is fact ! You have no ABS brakes , no cocoon of metal around you , no seat belts , no airbags , and quite often you have people on bikes that have zero road training , and quite often sadly , zero common sense . I`m utterly flabbergasted that some adults that should have more than one brain cell functioning are candidates for the first prize Darwin award , only last week , i was driving through my local burbs on a dreary winters night , very dark only at the last minute to see some bright spark riding a bike dressed totally all in black on a bike no helmet also a dark colored bike with zero lights ! And i have estimated , this practice in my locale would occur with at least 10% of riders . Again bikes ,scooters , mono wheels , skateboards , all forms of personal transport with zero safety functions , other than some common sense if the particular rider has any . A very good friend of mine who was an avid bike rider , a great bloke , and intelligent bloke that took all the precautions who was also a 40 something year old very successful GP , was in the wrong place at the wrong time while out on his bike and got hit by a car . sometimes you get up and dust yourself off , feel a few bruises and continue on with your day , unfortunately my good friend had his head impacted , and it was a life changing event for him forever , he can no longer work and needs constant attendance by a carer . As for people that ride electric whatevers that ride recklessly with gay abandon , motor size is not the answer , because a fit rider can do break neck speeds on just about anything with wheels . The issue is education and law enforcement , Law enforcement , you know the days before revenuer cameras everywhere and hardly a copper to be seen .
The off road comptition E bikes will do around 50mph as standard cost around the 4 to 5 K mark. Around Blackpool there are loads of the scroates riding around on them at mad speeds, and all are drug dealing in plain view for all to see
Cambridge hates the car always has. Even when I lived near Cambridge in the late 60s. It had a terrible reputation, loved bikes even when bikes were in the wrong. the motorist was blamed. I agree, give me some global warming its too cold grey and miserable. Its going to get colder, there is a Grand Solar Minimum that interferes with the magnetic field and causes the world to get cooler. More natural stuff, man can be blamed for by the eco terror ists. Sun spots have the opposite effect and raise the temperature. Of course the eco terror ist blame man for that. Volcanoes cause cooling and pollution. You guessed it man is responsible for the volcanoes work. The only thing we are responsible for is all those terrible plastic bottles. Get a water filter if you are fussy, put your water in a flask ignore anything in a plastic bottle if you can. Milk only comes in plastic. By the way some bottled water comes from the tap.
Legal 'E-bikes' are only 250 watts Geoff with power assistance only up to about 17 mph, so they are not faster than an ordinary bicycle. Obviously the benefit is less effort going up hills. There was talk about upping this to 500 watts as 250 is a bit wimpy for a heavy person. The ones that are causing the problems are 750 watts + with no speed limiters. I am actually interested in getting one when they sort it all out but it will have to live outside cos the batteries are dangerous a.f.
Silent -e-bikes ( usually modified to do more thank 40kmh - (i know , because i've chased one in a 40kmh zone , on my motorcycle , and they were pulling away from me!) - these same e-bike rushing up behind you at , no bell, no noise, swerving in and out of pedestrians, treating us a mobile chicanes..- waling around a corner of a building when suddenly some e-bike maniac almost colliding with you..;(
Passed a two wheel something the other day going down the road out of the village, looked in the mirror to check I had cleared him okay and there he was 100 foot behind me. Looked at the speedo, we were doing 52 mph and he kept up with me.
Legal e-bikes have to be pedalled and electric assistance cuts out at approx 15mph. You can go faster, but no electrical assistance once over 15mph. Therefore risk of serious injury no different to a normal bike. The ones causing problems are much faster and don’t need to be pedalled. They are effectively electric motorbikes.
It is illegal to have a throttle on an E-bike that you use on the road, but it is fine to have a sensor that gives you full power as soon as the pedals are turned! I know which I think is safest!
Have a word with your mate Lee, he has one of those daft electric bikes, there so heavy, if they hit anyone, they're going to be really hurt, they're too heavy, and should be banned ASAP.
Compulsory number plates, GPS tracking and insurance for cyclists, walkers, joggers and horse riders. Labour can then spend the money attracting more doctors and engineers to enrich us :)
Electric Bikes are a motorised vehicle , they should be insured at the very least, i live in Germany and all electric scooters are registered with a number plate and must be insured, but not E,Bikes. which have a starting purchase price of around Euro 3000 for good ones a cheap one perhaps around Euro 1500, Most Teenagers have goverened scooters which are reasonably priced.
@GeoffBuysCars FFS's Geoff!!! I know I keep saying I enjoy binge watching ya but you've gone OTT 'er mate 🤣😂🤪 oh well, I best get me an extra large cuppa coffeeeee and crack on with my binge watching....pmsl 😜
Tbh they don't want people on legal or illegal e bikes. Even number plates on push bikes and then people want insurance, Always coming from people that never ride a bike as normal. As for pay per mile. Im waiting for phones to detect going over 15mph and start charging you regardless if passenger in a car or riding a bike.
These are not e-bikes they are e-motorbikes as they are throttle and not pedal assist which are limited to 20kph. They are illegal to use on the public highway.
If electric cars are supposed to be replacements for ICE cars, then electric bikes are clearly the replacement for ICE mopeds and motorcycles. So yes, ALL electric bikes must require number plates, insurance, MOT, road tax and the rider must have passed a driving test and hold a valid driving licence, wear leathers and a crash helmet etc to use them on public roads. It's a no brainer, electric bikes are not children's toys, They do not allow electric Segways on the public roads even though they are limited to 8 mph,, so why would we allow electric bikes which can go much faster. (Or I could be being sarcastic?)
15 year's ago i bought #2 of 2 ebikes brought into the country for evaluation , looked like a Honda 250 scooter but did15 mph with it's 250w hub motor and was legal . Got it for my eldest daughter's 16th birthday for her . Youngest daughters just turned 16 and got her a " Modern " version , still legal just made way cheaper now as well as being 2/3 the size of the first gen ones . Looks more Barbie than bike lol . Strangely - Only time i nearly had an accident on the first one was when a police car came over a verge and tried to ram me off it as he thought it was a real bike that was nicked as it had no number plate ....
Worried about what's killing kids? Obesity, heart disease, cancer's, drugs (prescribed or not) BIG pharma's pointy things, mental issues, NHS waiting lists and suicides should be investigated before e-bikes?
I reckon the reason why people with no money look like they have money is because they have regular money going through there banks and able to get easy finance
Oxford doesn't like cars. 40 years ago Cambridge was worse. Nowhere to park. It's as if they wanted you to fold to car up and shove it up your arse. Nothings changed.
What idiots you can quite easily get a peddle bike to 30mph if not 40+mph going down hill limiting ebikes to 15 is insane all its going to do is be a bigger discrepancy between the speed of cars on the road and the bikes
Yeah doing all 10 in one video or doing it live was another option, but I've got chemtrails and I keep sneezing so didn't want to keep editing it out. Some of these were cut short when I had a sneeze coming, haha.
Most road users would appreciate cyclists being identifiable, many feel they ought to have some insurance, or, at the very least, some sort of compulsorary proficiency test. You only have to read any post where a cyclist has injured someone riding over a pedestrian crossing or through a red light to get the feedback on that. Personally I don't share your ANPR camera theory on this regarding hysteria in the press as a mechanism for making it so. It's Peter Hitchens ffs. He's made his living from being an opinionated bore and talking bollocks.
Illegally moded E-Bike? WTF would you even say that for or acknowledge that BS snippet trying to give you the notion that you can't modify something that you own or built yourself? This goes right in line with the right to repair! Someone having the ability to know there is tech that track's or limit's you in some way and know how to remove that limiter or GPS tracking does not make them a criminal, it make's them smart for researching the info to get the schematic's then remove it with a soldering gun. Every piece of electronics can be converted to be offline or work without a wireless transceiver. This is why the industry doesn't want you to have the info for pinout's, power, data lines, and logical useful layout's of how their product work's! They thing they are going to be an "Indian Giver" meaning they just gave you a gift but reserve the right to take it back at any time, even if it harm's your best interest!

Look into Irelands law around e-bikes and scooters next year it’s changing and from what I’ve heard you’ve to pay tax on bikes over 250w 25km/h and if it has a throttle
Or above 600w scooters.
The license plate doesn’t surprise me, they’ll be doing the new euro emissions from brake pads and tyres on them yet
The kids are disabling the speed limiters on their bikes.
I`m utterly flabbergasted that some adults that should have more than one brain cell functioning are candidates for the first prize Darwin award ,
only last week , i was driving through my local burbs on a dreary winters night , very dark only at the last minute to see some bright spark riding a bike dressed totally all in black on a bike no helmet also a dark colored bike with zero lights !
Write more next time.
Let’s count how many people have died after being hit by cars.
You bellend.
Exactly they want the plates on bikes. More cash cow .
The off road comptition E bikes will do around 50mph as standard cost around the 4 to 5 K mark. Around Blackpool there are loads of the scroates riding around on them at mad speeds, and all are drug dealing in plain view for all to see
People DO NOT buy VWs for hemp seats. They buy them for the sound, smell, & performance of their ICE vehicles
Silent -e-bikes ( usually modified to do more thank 40kmh - (i know , because i've chased one in a 40kmh zone , on my motorcycle , and they were pulling away from me!) - these same e-bike rushing up behind you at , no bell, no noise, swerving in and out of pedestrians, treating us a mobile chicanes..- waling around a corner of a building when suddenly some e-bike maniac almost colliding with you..;(
Numberplates can be removed, ask the two-up scooter riders who ride in London to snatch mobile phones, just how easy it is.
It's obvious where the chaos get the latest tec.....its Dodgy Dave down the pub. He will sell you anything and everything.😅😅😅😅
I'm wondering if the e bike was a surron like electric motorbike
That's it. Take a dozen eggs to council and register them as chickens.
Have a word with your mate Lee, he has one of those daft electric bikes, there so heavy, if they hit anyone, they're going to be really hurt, they're too heavy, and should be banned ASAP.
Ebikes (pedal assist) are limited to a maximum speed of 15 mph! And they weigh a ton! I can't keep up with my son on his push bike🤣
what happened with the 2024 oxford 15 minute city trials?
Anyone know
It’s going ahead as planned, also coming to your neighbourhood soon!
you would think it would have some youtube coverage from
someone.
anyone seen any
E bikes are essentially "powered two wheeled vehicles" and should be treated as such requiring number plates and a CBT.
I've been told to register my goats with the Government, even though I don't have any.
I hate explosive vehicles, get a old KDX or DTR
ebike crash in oxford the home of MI6 recruits..well thats a surprise...lets bring in regulations ,problem,reaction..solution?
E-bikes only assist you up to 15mph then the motor cuts out. If you have modified it yourself then that’s on you
Tbh they don't want people on legal or illegal e bikes.
Thanks
I dunno, could you?
15 year's ago i bought #2 of 2 ebikes brought into the country for evaluation , looked like a Honda 250 scooter but did15 mph with it's 250w hub motor and was legal . Got it for my eldest daughter's 16th birthday for her . Youngest daughters just turned 16 and got her a " Modern " version , still legal just made way cheaper now as well as being 2/3 the size of the first gen ones . Looks more Barbie than bike lol .
Strangely -
Only time i nearly had an accident on the first one was when a police car came over a verge and tried to ram me off it as he thought it was a real bike that was nicked as it had no number plate ....
Worried about what's killing kids?
Obesity, heart disease, cancer's, drugs (prescribed or not) BIG pharma's pointy things, mental issues, NHS waiting lists and suicides should be investigated before e-bikes?
A bike with an electric motor = a motor bike.
That's the plan.
No safety gear, no road sense and excessive speeds; very surprised not more accidents and not just to the idiots riding them!!!!!!
Where are the parents of these children?
I reckon the reason why people with no money look like they have money is because they have regular money going through there banks and able to get easy finance
E-bikes are dangerous. 😔
Problem -Reaction Solution as always
Oxford doesn't like cars. 40 years ago Cambridge was worse. Nowhere to park. It's as if they wanted you to fold to car up and shove it up your arse. Nothings changed.
Who would have guessed that tweaked electric bikes would cause a problem 🙃
I came across number 10 first, so I watched them in reverse order, and when I clicked on the Like Button, for number 1, it went to 666!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhhhh!
What idiots you can quite easily get a peddle bike to 30mph if not 40+mph going down hill limiting ebikes to 15 is insane all its going to do is be a bigger discrepancy between the speed of cars on the road and the bikes
We are not doing price per mile stand up
Was it a legal one or an illegal one, most cyclists can cycle over the restricted 15.5mph ebikes limit
Its illegal e bikes that are to fast, The law already is there to them to be registered it just isn't enforced
yipee !
why didnt you do all 10 in one video :P I have tried to help in your other ones....
Yeah doing all 10 in one video or doing it live was another option, but I've got chemtrails and I keep sneezing so didn't want to keep editing it out. Some of these were cut short when I had a sneeze coming, haha.
Did the guy identify as a male ???? Lol
😀👍
👍🏻

Geoff stop spamming my feed
Can't win, sometimes the notifications don't even work...!
On her bike Peter Hitchens.
