I have this model and I have to say I love it. It sounds great and easily fills a room. I love the fact that I can use it in the garden when I am having a barbecue. The inbuilt battery on mine lasts about 8 hours. I have found that you have to be close (under 6ft) to use the remote without problems. It does work with the iPad3, but it does not charge it. It does charge my iPod4g with no problem. Bluetooth is great to have and I use it quite a lot. Nice review.
If I am charging on the Logitech Speaker stand I Bluetooth my music to my Philips DS8550. The best things about the Logitech Speaker stand are that it has a very small footprint and takes up very little space. It can be used in portrait and landscape. It will still charge if it is switched off. You can use it whilst it is charging and it will still charge. It is VERY stable and you can get it cheap, as little as £40. Hope this info is of some help.
Yes - I had exactly the same problem. It just wouldn't charge at all. Took it back and got a replacement without a hassle BUT the same thing is happening with the 2nd unit although at least this one shows some charge. According to FAQ on Philips's website it says it should be fully charged in 4 hours. I have had mine plugged in for 24 hours and am only getting the orange light. Have sent an email to Philips as I don't think the staff will be that helpful if I take back the second unit.
I charged my iPad for 10 hours overnight and it went from 23% to 70% charged. I bought the Logitech Speaker stand to charge mine. It charges from 0% to 100% in just over 5 hours. You can use it on the stand whilst it is charging. It can be turned from portrait to landscape and angled to suit you. The sound is adequate for gaming apps and videos. For music it is ok at best and tinny at worst.
I have the Fidelio 8500, which doesnt have Bluetooth or a battery built in. However i picked it up on sale in HMV for £99.99, which is excellent, especially since i'd already decided it sounded better than a Bose Sounddock or the £200-ish Dr Dre dock, which were both good in their own right. Also prefer the grey and white colour of the 8500. Best thing about these docks is the sound quality, Philips aren't known as an audiophile choice, but these docks punch above their weight in sound quality.
love your video reviews mate. However, i think your intro is abit loud. maybe tone it down abit? i find myself muting the volume till the intro is over. cheers mate! keep up the good work
I noticed that it said "not charging" on the status bar of the iPad is this because it is on the battery in the unit or it just can't deliver the power to the iPad?
Does this charge the iPad cause I read a lot it don't charge but someone posted that even tho it says not charging if they leave it overnight it does charge it.
@davomrmac does this not work for Ipad2? Been looking and looking for a good dock speakers to charge and to listen to. I've only seen a couple, either way to high in price or not a brand I know, do you have any suggestions on a good speaker dock for ipad2 for around $100? Thanks!
Give me a few days and I will test mine overnight to see if it will charge. I do know that when connected to a laptop or pc, even though it says not charging it does ... BUT ... your iPad must not be on. (It does state that on apples site) It is slower than charging it with the plug in connector that is supplied.
does anyone else have trouble charging the actual unit? Everytime I disconnect the power supply the unit just dies. Internal battery does not seem to be holding charge
Anyone else has the problem that after turning off the Bluetooth it won't switch to aux? and if I turn it off and on again the Bluetooth still switches on automatically. It's been driving me mad and any help is be appreciated

@Kittencuddler Yes it should do.

@CrowoyAndroid Pretty sure u have to keep it to under 10 seconds, for demo purposes, but I am no expert.

Thanks for the video Dave! mind if i ask how does this compare to the Bose models. Paticularly the sounddock portable.
@voyagerstarship Thank you.
@ThatAccount100 Thanks.
Great video
How does this compare the the beatbox by dr dre?
if anyone is debating on getting this thing. stop this is an amazing system. sounds as good or even better than the bose ipod dock.
how does this compare to the Creative ZiiSound D5 Wireless Bluetooth Speakers
@KimHoaiNam Thanks for watching.
@rpixel97 Thank you for watching and commenting.
Hey Dave, you have a typo in the title: it's Fidelio not Fideleo
Not as loud as the beatbox but its cheaper while still giving really good volume and audio quality.
@Chris100795 Thanks for spotting that ;) all changed

@TheSpiritOfTheWest Almost the same.
