@@mst4705 the choice that popped near the end says you can slaughter the remaining seals to get a huge boost in food, or sacrifice the elders to reduce food requirements. I chose neither because we had food under control.
It is definitely a good day. Been a horrible year for me so far and this really made my day. I ended up forgetting Frostpunk 2 was coming, so this was a welcome surprise. Thank you for the start of what seems to be another Oddsome playthrough 👍🏽
Answering your question. When I was younger, every game was set to max difficulty immediately, and I'd just accept punishment as I Got Gud. I'm Fitty now, and nowadays, I choose what I feel may be most enjoyable. The more action oriented the game is, the more likely I am to choose normal or even story if it's supposed to be really difficult. For turn based tactics, prolly veteran. I don't play RTS games anymore...got Starcraft nightmares, but if I were to play an RTS, normal would be my choice at first. I find that I tend to enjoy games the most that have no difficulty settings. They seem to be balanced around all people having fun and being challenging to win/clear for everyone without being unfair. Best example I can think of is Monster Hunter.
I like these first few minutes already. Frostpunk 2 does the best thing a sequel can do: Expand on the original in new, interesting and meaningful ways. We have survived the initial frost, now we must advance into thriving.
Hello, Mister Odd! I’m a new fan coming with much love! Throwback time. I just finished watching your first Play through of the Witcher 2. And I’m glad to see your channel still going strong over a decade later! I’m about to start watching your second one, soon to start the Witcher 3 myself, so I can enjoy your let’s play, of that game. Probably my favorite part of your videos is how you try to read every note and character entry in the game! I’m a big fan of Podcasts and audiobooks, so being able to get Witcher lore through my ears, instead of reading it myself, does so much for me. I also adore how logical your thought process is, also your “Canadianess” is super charming, and hilarious at times lol. For you, I have one question that you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. What's something that you would tell yourself back in those days if you had the chance? Or any time in the past, for that matter? You know, something you wish you had known back then. Much respect, and admiration coming outa Kentucky.
I found Odd back in the day when he did Witcher 1 playthrough (I'm scared to check how long ago that was, but probably close to a decade now!) and I had the same thoughts. Odd is an intelligent player, who loves immersion and is thorough in his gaming. This also results in him amassing a fairly intelligent audience who in turn create a great community. Some of Odd's other LPs I'd recommend would be Xcom (season 9 is currently running) and Darkest Dungeon. At least these are my personal favourites.
Depends on the type of game I'm playing, something like this I would go with normal as I want to know what I have to do first, sequel or not... but for RPGs with third or first person, I would start of with hard as I want to have a challange or I'm used to that type of game. Otherwise, if it is too hard, I would go to normal.
I like to go 2nd hardest difficulty. If you start too easily you can pick up bad habits. Plus it usually makes the game last longer if it's more challenging.
I think Elsa is my favorite cold mascot. If I forget about songs being overplayed, I really loved it, her experience resonated with me to a degree, and it was my sister's favorite. Lol, looking forward to seeing this series! I don't like how difficult the choices are in these games, so I don't want to play, but I'm going to love watching you do so! Good luck, Steward Odd.
I'm quite happy that you choose the options you choose (no sacrifice of elders, no seal slaughter, victory). It was fun watching you achieve success here. Honestly victory is more fun for me then added difficulty so on new games I start at either the level they suggest or the easier level if it makes more sense.
I really love watching your videos there so entertaining. First time I discovered you in the darkest dungeon 2 then frostpunk then rest. I watch your videos in ever night shift because of you. You made my night shift less stressful. Thanks for everything and keep up good work. Looking forward to you next videos and now frostpunk 2 😁
broo... I was literally thinking about this game yesterday thinking I wanted to watch a frostpunk 2 playthrough. Not knowing it wasn't even released yet, I saw some gameplay a while back so I thought it was out already. So happy to see my favorite youtuber kick of a playthrough today, going to watch in bed and probably fall asleep in 5 minutes buttttt I'll watch it tomorrow when I come home haha. Anyway, glad to see you're doing well after surgery aswell
Odd: sacrifice old people??? We don't do that here..... we only sacrifice children to the mines!!!!! (frostpunk 1) lmaoooo excited for this series!!!!!
Personally if I'm playing a new game I start off on easy until I learn the controls and mechanics then I will switch to normal difficulty and play the game all the way through
The difficulty choice question: I usually go with the hardest option that I think I will handle, but just barely so. In Frostpunk 2, I went with Steward (3/4) and I'm enjoying it so far. In games like this, if I'm not constantly in a crisis management mode I feel like I'm missing something.
2:52 Eh… I usually just play on normal difficulty when getting into sequels of games i already played for the very first time, as I kinda want to vibe to the setting and story as intended by the devs, ya know?
i'm liking the move to days and weeks, the kids are actually going to grow up and be more then a number on a sheet that does nothing (if you're playing a morally good person)
I really like when youtubers know how to play the game, instead of waisting time in the vid trying to figure it out. Xcom is diferent due to having to figure the best outcome based on the random.
I always go easy on the difficulty first time playing any kind of strategy game. I want to be able to learn the mechanics and make some mistakes without being punished too hard. Then I crank it up with each playthrough until I tap out. Never could beat L/I XCOM, did a C/I run though. Beat an easy campaign and I'm strolling through an officer one now on FP2. Loving it.
Also, for every new game I always choose the difficulty above "normal". If the devs put a bunch of work into games mechanics, then I want to play on a difficulty that fully utilizes them. Usually that isn't the case for lower difficulties.
I tend to play games on higher difficulties because it's more engaging. That said I found 2 had too much micro but wasn't super challenging to complete the story.
I'm sorry, someone killed the captain? The dude who made all those grueling decisions to make sure that we survived the great storm?? THEY JUST KILLED HIM?? That man was (subjectively) a HERO! THE INJUSTICE!
I usually play either on an easy or normal difficulty. I'm in for fun and plot, not combat and challenges. The easier, the better, because sometimes the easiest mode is also too difficult for me.. When I have enough experience in the game or if it feels too easy, I can dive into a higher difficulty, but I am never, ever into a challenge. Leave that to those who like to suffer. I'm not one of those people when it comes to one of my favourite activity ever, which is video games. UPD: Unless! There's an achievement I want to go for that requires a certain difficulty. Which is rare, I usually get to know the game first and then try earning the achievements/perfect the game.
In a Sequel. I go up a difficulty if the mechanics are the same but just a couple new bells and whistles. I do normal difficulty if they change the main mechanics.
I love your videos, I love Frostpunk 2 and I want to see more. Let me backseat for a second. Technically, you are doing the district neighbour bonus wrong. 13:00 With the housing district for instance, the entire district gets the generator bonus, if only 3 tiles of the housing district touch the generator... Meaning, you should not just look at having the districs adjacent, you should also focus on having them EXACTLY 3 tiles adjacent, so more districs can get the bonus by touching more districs. I hope I explained it in an understandable way, english is not my first language xD okay bye :D
Intrigued by this game, always thought the 1st game looked good but never dove in, xcom2 being my fav game and Odd being my fav creator for that means i now have a solid springboard into this game. Lets see if after a couple of vids i get the itch to play myself like i did with xcom2…
When it comes to playing a sequel for a game, I'll play on the highest difficulty I managed to complete the previous one on....not always with success lol.
I think you misunderstood how the heat adjacency works. If you fill the 3 bars of adjacency bonus, the bonus applies then to the entire district. So it's not required to have all 6 housing tiles adjacent to heat bonus tiles. At least that's how I understood it while playing the game.
Every game i play if it has difficulty levels i always start one harder than normal. Usually i do 2 playthroughs the 1st one for the story and the 2nd for achievements or things i forgot to do in the 1st playthrough. Ever since god of war 3 came out it was always how i did things.
The difficulty level for me really depends on the game. If the game is in any way supposed to be hard - it's "easy" all the way! I'm pretty stressed IRL now, so I really don't need the extra stress 😂
I say we just sacrifice em all 😅
You were suppose to be the chosen one.

@@11bitstudios Oops, you weren't supposed to see that ;)
Finally, someone who can complete tutorial without slaughtering seals, killing old people or dying, Thanks Odd
Save em all but put the kids to work right?
I did it on officer, but you have to restart it a few times.
He built food district over seals, so I don't understand what you mean without slaughtering seals.
@@mst4705 the choice that popped near the end says you can slaughter the remaining seals to get a huge boost in food, or sacrifice the elders to reduce food requirements. I chose neither because we had food under control.

Imagine playing and open world game where you have that entire city to explore.
I almost always play my initial play-through of a game on the standard difficulty, as that is the intended experience by the designers.
