She had a hard time with her health in her later years, such a shame. I loved her voice in Come Outside when I was a little boy, thought she looked lovely and had a great comedic touch as Miss Brahms in Are You Being Served, and adored her wit and style whenever she appeared on Just A Minute on Radio 4. Thanks for all of that, Wendy.
There I was just strolling through youtube minding my own business, as you do. Then BAM!!. I'm 56 and for no reason in particular I'm crying me eyes out. The song is sung with great feeling, its about a gorgeous girl who was a fantastic actress and a real looker, very sadly missed.
Wendy had such a long and varied career. And pretty much did everything. She really was very versatile. Wendy is one of those performers who when you see her in the clips in this video you can't really imagine that she's not here anymore. She really is one of the immortals.
Kicking myself, a few years ago at a Closing Sam Goody store liquidation sale, I passed on a DVD of Help! that had a cut scene featuring Wendy. Haven't seen one since. Idiot that I am.
If I remeber right, this is just Joe Brown singing with his ukulele, not so long ago. I do not think the Bruvvers were around then. Always loved Wendy in sit com's, but sorry I never cared for The Eastenders, so, I'm sure she was a good actress on the show, but I did like her in sitcoms and that song with the bloke trying to get her to come outside!!!!
I'm guessing Joe brown is singing. His daughter was on vintage TV sam brown on needle time saying how fed up she got after a few years singing the same songs on tour so now with ruby turner did the jools Holland orchestra on tour.
did you now that joe was the first person to play a guitar in st pauls with the choir all things bright and bueatyful then he recorded it again with his his late wife jill who used to be a member of the group that backed benny hill on all his shows
Another lovely person to remind us what a brilliant place the u.k. used to be.

Thank you for a wonderful Tribute to Wendy, Done in dignity and Taste, a thing that is so short in the world today sadly.
Yet another example of British beauty in the true sense of the word

ARE YOU BEING SERVED is sown into the fabric of American culture. She will always be young and sexy Miss Brahms to me.
Wow. Didn't know you guys saw it over in the States. ... Glad you could enjoy Mrs Slocombe's "pussy" jokes - hope they weren't edited out for you lot.
She is always beautiful
What a lovely tribute. It also made me think of Vicky Brown who succumbed to the same illness.

A really beautiful tribute, although I had noticed nothing of her later work (eg Pauline Fowler) was featured.

Me too. AYBS was and is a classic show. 😁
In AYBS I think she was my first ever crush, before I even knew what one was!... Nice Vid.
lovely tribute to a great Brit.
Wendy sure was one of my favourite British actresses. Well, is.
After all, who says dead people can't remain favourites?
always a delight!
@doodlesbops93 Yes, it's Joe Brown. He sang this song to close the Concert For George (Harrison).
She was so gorgeous.........Our Cybill Shepherd.
favorite line "I don't like the way you're nicking my knockers"
She was very pretty .... looked a lot like Brigitte Bardot ?? A class British trouper.
Lovely lady much talent
She is what they called an English Rose.
lovely!
The title of this video makes it sound like Wendy is the singer..... *very* misleading.
@anya933 . Thanks so much....such a pretty sound.

That IS called,"Come Outside", by Mike Sarne.
How in the world do five people not like this ? Especially if they liked Miss Brahms
that sounds like Joe Brown singing there. I like it.
correct. it is joe brown
Lovely
I'm guessing Joe brown is singing. His daughter was on vintage TV sam brown on needle time saying how fed up she got after a few years singing the same songs on tour so now with ruby turner did the jools Holland orchestra on tour.
its joe brown singing , he sang this for george harrison on concert for george last closing song , fab ,
I had forgotten she was in O the besses
did you now that joe was the first person to play a guitar in st pauls with the choir all things bright and bueatyful then he recorded it again with his his late wife jill who used to be a member of the group that backed benny hill on all his shows
Please tell me who is singing the song.
The singer sounds very much like Joe Brown who probably accompanied himself on the uke
come outside, with mike sarn.
Dolly bird , mate.
Come outside
+paul brown its cold outside
As a young woman, she resembled Barbara Eden. We will miss you Shirley Brahms!
