It’s the only one of my gba games that still work and dam it is fire to this day. I swear if Nintendo doesn’t port this game eventually I will screech. This game NEEDS more recognition
This game was so detailed and amazing, very high replayability with many homages from Tezuka's works. Yeah, yet another gem I need to pay a revisit to. And the music is phenomenal!
Really? Listen dude, i don't hate the soundtrack of this game. it's just that, there isn't much soundtrack in the game. Many of the songs repeat over and over, like the Roboids theme, or my least favorite, the fact that Garon has the Pluto battle theme. This game in my opinion needed more songs, i mean, the Sonic Advance trilogy (+ Sonic Battle), Mother 3, and also the Golden Sun games had more music than this game does. And there are some songs that i don't really like, like the battle against Pluto which isn't precisely my favorite final boss song of all time, Pook boss music which pales in comparation to the epicness of the original 7TH Force of Gunstar Heroes, and sadly enough, the song where Astro and Nuka try to stop the sun from exploding. Like why the hell did they had to use that Gunstar Heroes song in a moment where everyone is gonna die and we're the last hope to save the universe, i still don't get that music decision. Also to be honest i would have loved that there be more variety of enemies, cause they repeat OVER AND OVER. Just like the soundtrack. I don't hate this game, it still gives me nostalgia. But feel like the could had made more variety with the soundtrack thing (And the enemies too...).
Ah man...I'm crying... For how good this game was and still is, but they had to make an unplayable remake that killed any and all chances of reviving the series.
One of my favorite characters of all time starring in one of my favorite games of all time... Amazing gameplay, amazing bosses, amazing story... It has everything!!! Just a love at first glance, heh heh...
Treasure. Those guys knew graphics in that day and age. Miracles on segas genesis;saturn,n64 and gba. Always love how they push it to the max on every system.
Great work on this. Kinda bummed that, while you even got most of the mini-bosses, you skipped the traffic light enemy from Stage 1, the Blue Knight Joust, and Hamegg's Goblin, and basically all of Stage 8, and only showed us the Birth bosses aside from Garon.
@@russiancheems2275 Kinda sorta. It’s more like Ghosts n Goblins crossed with Persona 4. You beat the Birth story (the main seven stages), you beat Re-Birth (the main seven stages again, but harder and with an altered story), and then you gotta crack a wider conspiracy hidden in the Re-Birth plot that requires liberal use of Stage Select and some out of the box thinking until you unlock all of the Stage 0 areas (stand-alone “levels” that usually don’t have gameplay and just really exist to drive the plot along at certain points) and then you finally hit Stage 8, the true finale of game.
@@russiancheems2275 Surprisingly no. Basically Astro gets into time travel shenanigans from the end of Stage 5 to the start of Stage 7... wherein Astro develops time travel to return to his present but doesn’t stick the landing so he’s five years in the future, with humans and robots locked into a violent war with robots dominating the conflict. Astro attempts to defuse the war by violently fighting the World’s Strongest Robots, killing them... and then a space goddess comes from outer space to declare that robots suck and that she’s shutting all machines on Earth down permanently. Which she does, killing even a battered and beaten Astro before he realizes what’s up. Then Phoenix, another of Ozamu Tezuka’s iconic characters, talks to Astro in the afterlife, giving him both cosmic awareness and conditional time travel as he reincarnates in a different timeline. Without going into many spoilers for Re-Birth portion, someone is pulling the strings to orchestrate an epic humans vs robot war to create an outcome that suits their needs but a certain space goddess with a planetary instant kill for every robot ever keeps dooming their plans. So Astro’s gotta use his time travel powers from Phoenix and his advanced robot brain to work out the plan backwards to forwards, dismantle the wider conspiracy in the present day, and bring a permanent end to the wars to uncover the true mastermind.

What the hell is that final boss ? I've played this game since I was six or seven years old, and completed the game more times than I can count. Pretty sure I've never encountered that boss ! Is that like a secret boss or something ?
The short story: Boss 1 to 14 are the bosses you face in the original run, dubbed 'Birth'. Eventually, due to plot-reasons, Astro dies but is brought back to life and given time-travel powers, basically stage select. This starts the 'Rebirth' chapter and your main task is to travel throughout all the stages again to find out the circumstances of the Birth chapter, the real reason why the Robot Rebellion happened, leading to discovering the main villain's, Sharaku the Three-Eyed One, and his goal to summon the Devil Garon, the true final boss. Though it may be a retread, the Rebirth chapter has alot of major plot changes due to the time travel powers and reveals the backstory of alot of characters. Characters you thought were evil were actually good and vice-versa and characters you thought were minor were actually important in the long run. Also, Rebirth's difficulty is through the roof.
Because Treasure. They were the developers of Gunstar Heroes and put a bunch of self-references into this game. In first level, you can see a building with "Gunstar" sign on it, Pook boss fight is basically Seven Forces (well... it's Four Forces here), and in the pyramid level you can find the hidden entrance with Mischief Makers easter egg inside. either he's talking about the difficulty of this game or that crapshoot inspired game of that Astro Boy reboot movie by D3

Agree, That game felt more like the Special glue eating cousin of this one, The PS2 at least was loyal to the Anime
@Armando Palomino but at what cost?
Dude you are so savage it took me so long to finish this game and you did it without getting a hit
It took me like a week. Most of that time was cooling off from the 2nd and 3rd bosses absolutely wrecking me. It really took like 2 hours.

Love how they used the ending theme from the original/IMHO the better Gunstar Heroes for the Genesis/Megadrive as this game's ending theme.
the ending theme fits very well, Astro Boy did the same as Green, both sacrificed themselves to save the world
Treasure really is something else when it comes to their games
That second boss was so difficult as a kid
Man, I remember playing this game when I was just a child.
i enjoy this game so much when had 13 ages :D
This game is really good.
I actually never saw the stinger ending before throughout all my playing of this game. Thanks for showing what it would've looked like!
What an amusing looking Megaman remake.
?
The ending to this game makes me cry, every time.
36:53 Wait... isnt that the SAME music from Gunstar Heroes' final scene when Green sacrifices himself to destroy Golden Silver????????????????????
I love Astro Boy :)

Mannnn that boss that fills up ur entire screen, all I remember is not being able to beat that boss 😭 but damn this game is engraved in my memories
19:23 Is it just me or does this guy look EXACTLY like the main character of that NES game that he played a few days ago?
Wait... never mind. He is the same dude.
...
Why the heck is he in here anyway?
Because he's a Tezuka character like Astro/Atom is.
Amazing 3/Wonder 3; same thing.
Pook's lion form is based on Kimba/Jungle Emperor Leo.
@Kagereneko yeah
This game was amazing! One of the best in genre in my opinion and it was a gba title lmao

Is it bad that I misread 'Magnamite' as 'Magnemite'? (the Pokemon)

Ah yes, Carabs; the subterranean robot/beetle/tank driven by a gang of disaffected teenagers with psychic powers.
I'd like whatever Tezuka smoked.
Played this in 2012, one of the most challenging and confusing plot at that time
I think you are confusing Black Looks with Deadcross in two of the boss fights; because the first boss sprite clearly is Deadcross.
