Same, but I have put it on so high a pedestal as a child, it had a personal fall from grace for me, and is now my 2nd favorite movie I enjoy this movie so much
The nostalgia I have for this movie is so thick every time I hear the theme song and the beginning logos I get a heavy feeling almost breathless excitement!
I still think this movie holds up even in 2020 and its been a family tradition to watch this every year. It has a lot of stuff you wont catch on your first viewing and you discover something new with each rewatch
Born in 2004, I grew up watching this movie a lot. We had a dvd of it, we went on the actual “Polar Express” (Real thing you can do in this state), and it compassed my absolutely favorite school memory. 2nd grade, for the holidays, our teachers had us watch the movie, handing us hot chocolate with candy canes and marshmallows inside. This film has considerable influence on my imagination just as any Disney Renaissance movie, and while it has a lot of flaws, it still is my favorite Christmas movie.
Not to sound weird but I'm wondering which "Polar Express" you went too, i live in Western Massachusetts and have been to one that's in Connecticut...it was awesome
Its such a beautiful film, its fun and also so emotional and hard to watch i tear up at the end scene where he says "nobody hears the bell anymore, but only those who truly believe"
I love this movie I’ve been watching it every Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was younger being so excited about Santa and I really truly believed. It’s sad to look back on it and just not have that golden excitement anymore, but it’s a movie I will always hold a special place in my heart for. Definitely my favorite Christmas movie by far and one of my favorite movies of all time.
Watching the Polar Express on Christmas Eve is my absolute favorite Christmas tradition. We sit in the living room with the whole family in our pajamas and turn the lights down low with the tree lit and just exist for a while. After the movie is over we open one present each and then go to bed early for the night. And that’s a tradition I plan on passing down to my future kids, because it’s such a near and dear tradition to me. I love just existing with my parents as the main characters go on this fantastical and magical adventure that every kid has probably wanted to go on at one point. It’s my all time favorite Christmas movie, and I only ever explicitly watch it on Christmas Eve. It’s something I hold near and dear and I’ll never get tired of it. The animation might be a little weird sometimes, but that adds to the charm and the nostalgia, because that looked like 100% real people when I was a little kid. Now I know it’s animation, but it’s still absolutely beautiful. The message is beautiful and the characters are on point. The whole movie brings out a sense of childhood wonder that lasts throughout the years, from when I was a little first grader, to now, as a junior in high school. When I watch this movie, I allow myself to become a little kid again. I allow myself to let my inner child out whenever I watch it, and I always go to bed on Christmas Eve feeling happy. The main theme is so nostalgic, and the soundtrack brings tears of joy to my eyes every time. I love this movie and everything about it. It will forever embody the childish wonder you feel when you see a mountain of presents under the tree on Christmas Day. If you can’t tell, I love this movie quite a lot
This makes me smile from ear to ear. Finally a reviewer with an open mind. Ive seen many reviews on this and it gets slammed continuously for no reason. Some say its too boring. And some say the animated characters' faces look scary or whatever. And its ridiculous. Ive loved this movie since i was in like the 2nd grade and im now 23 years young so. Maybe I'm slightly biased but when I saw thus film for the first time as a kid, a lot of stuff went right over my head. After watching it about 5 more times as i grew older, I honestly cant see anything wrong with this movie. Maybe it was too slow like you said; I understand that it drags a little towards the end. But Its metaphoric first of all.. which explains why there's so many critics cause some viewers probably dont have a long enough attention span lol. The plot is wonderful, the theme is to 'believe' in the spirit of christmas basically. It takes you on this magical journey through the boy in the blue robes eyes and it keeps you drawn in. The ghost for instance, is my favorite character from the film as well and he was the most mystical one. Many interesting things in this movie that makes you not take your eyes away from the screen. Someone told me it was boring on the train and something cool and magical shouldve happened but I mean.m the hot coacoa scene was epic. How can a kid not get entertained by that? And then the little things i also learned to appreciate overtime... The instrumental throughout the film, the sound effects when the train would malfunction.. Literally felt like I was one of the characters at one point. I can go on and on ugh its such a good film. Awesome review

Your review is very open and honest. I feel the same about this movie as you did, and the feeling I get while watching this movie is undiscribable. One of the most incredible moments in the movie for me is when the conductor cuts the boy's ticket behind his back after they met Santa Clause on the Northpole. He doesn't wanna know what the ticket says, and that moment is great for me.
You're not alone here. Even I saw this film in the theater when I was five. It was the second movie that I've ever seen in the cinema. When I was nine, I was in an elementary school chorus and sang a medley of the songs from the film. I feel bad when some people see this film as an uncanny valley and I would have to disagree on that subject because I enjoyed being stimulated with this movie, and other family movies at the time, as a kid, growing up.
The Polar Express makes me want to be a child again. Even though I never got into this film in childhood, I feel like I've always loved it if you know what I mean.
totally understand - i think it was one of the first movies I ever watched in cinema, back when i was about 6 or 7 possibly & STILL remember the experience to this day!

As a kid, I LOVED trains. Most of my childhood consisted of Geo-Tracks and Thomas the Tank Engine, and almost every Christmas I would watch this fantastic movie sipping hot chocolate.
I was born on December 23rd 1999 (yes, my birthday is two days before Christmas). It’s my most favorite Christmas movie of all time. I make it a tradition of watching it every December.
Your birthday is on Christmas Eve Eve, that's awesome 😂 thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, it's so great that others such as yourself agree with the video title. Yes it is an incredible tradition 😊
I definitely think The Polar Express is the best Christmas movie and this movie is pretty special for me as well i do remember the first time i saw this movie I thought it was the best movie ever.
I remember my first time watching this movie. I was in 1st grade, very young. All the students went into the library. There were tables set up everywhere. And every single student got a hot cocoa during the hot chocolate song. Ever since I’ve watched it every year. It’s a very magical feeling movie. And extremely nostalgic.

This movie always hits me with nostalgia. I remember watching this on Christmas Eve and being super excited for Christmas day, which also happens to be my b-day! The score is the most memorable one ever
I'm 45 years old and watched The Polar Express for the first time on 3D Bluray on my 3D tv and it blew my mind especially the 3D. I then used the scene where the camera follows the ticket flying through the air as my go to scene to show off the powers of the 3D visuals to my friends & family and they were blown away. The sound, visuals and score are amazing as are the mo-cap performances. I hope you the person who made this video got to see the film in 3D. It's totally a level above in 3D. Great video and I love your passion for the film. Subscribed to your channel. Thank you 😁 Krazy Kajeevie of The James Bond Show 😁🍸 PS - I disagree on two points. I do think.its a perfect film. For it's genre, and how it flows, timing, execution and especially the dialogue, nothing is out of place IMO 🎁🎄😁
Thank you for very much for sharing your story, it's amazing to see how much a family animated film affects a person no matter of their age. I have yet to see this film in 3D honestly, very soon I will! I absolutely respect your opinion, very well said. Thank you so much for subscribing Krazy, much appreciated
This movie truly is something special. No just as a Christmas film, but as a film in general. The true story of the movie is learning to deal with internal conflict. Should I comes to terms with reality, or do I want to “live in a fantasy”. Many young teenagers deal with this issue, and it’s wonderful to see a movie take on this difficult topic.
This movie is why I still believe in Santa. I'm 21. Almost 22. When I saw this first, I looked like the main boy character. He is wearing my favorite colors. Blue and yellow. I even sounded like him.
So people like the 2000 Grinch Remake and the 2018 remake, but they hate THIS? “It’s dark” Yeah that’s the POINT, it’s powerful, you feel like you’re THERE. The soundtracks a banger too I agree, sure the humans look weird, but it’s 2004.
Bro, the Polar express is my favorite christmas movie! I know the animation is not that perfect but the plot, the characters and the music is so great!!, i love how many interpretations the fans have about it and the hot chocolate scene is great! Im so happy to see it again tomorrow!
I love the detail that went in to the locomotive pulling the Polar Express, it always annoys me when animated movies don't model or animate trains properly, but the animations for the Polar Express are phenomenal!
I remember this movie back when i was 12 yrs old in 2004. And i also remember me ,my younger bro and my mom watching this movie when this movie hits on the cinemas...
I was born in 2005, and though I wasn't alive when this movie came out, I used to watch this movie all the time, Christmas or not. music was a huge part of my life back then and I don't really know why... the score of this movie is what gives me all of my memories of that time and every time I hear it, I get chills all over my body reminding me about how much better the world was back then. One of my favorite memories of this movie were sitting on my couch and watching it through those old blue and red 3d glasses. This movie was truly one of the best parts of my childhood. I made this comment mid-video and I still can't get over the score of the movie in the background... it just brings tears to my eyes with nostalgia and inspiration. i just had to come back and say this...
Thank you so much for the lovely thoughts, I'm so glad to know that there are others who also know how special this film really is. I appreciate your time watching and commenting. More content to come.
I watched this when I was like 8-10 in school on Christmas occasion with my classmates and I steel get in the feels whenever I think about that moment....... I don't think I will ever forget it.❤️
It's so important to remember them and keep those memories. It really is amazing how powerful a film can be and how much impact it can have on you. Thank you for watching video :)
Thank you for watching. Let me know if there are any other films that make you feel the same way. I'd love to make these videos into a regular type of series.
Oh my God so glad I found you all guys we should make a community because I really thought I was alone on this one. Everybody around me dislikes this movie, even the children and I just don't understand why. I watch it around 5 times a year even when it's not Christmas time and I don't want to miss one second of it. And I think it's actually very deep, this movie is not really about Santa Claus, I don't even like Santa Claus. It's about faith in general, and all those inner battles and hardships that come with it. I feel deeply touched by this movie and I cherish it and I'm glad that there is people out there that appreciate it as much as I do. I knew I was not crazy.

This movie like a few others I watched as a kid is special to me, even now I’ll go back and watch it on Christmas eve, it’s good a great graphic style too.
Completely agree, I definitely think Polar Express is the best Christmas movie too. People like to diss it, but other Christmas movies don't come close in having such phenomenal quality. Few films have such good music, the animation was incredible for the time. What I like most of all though is that the whole movie is about a journey, not a destination. Sometimes in life, we don't know where we're going. We've all had those times where it's hard to believe that there's destinations worth seeing. It doesn't matter where the train takes you, what matters is that you get on. Not about the presents on Christmas day, but the friends you made along the way. I see it as a sort of more kid friendly version of "It's a wonderful life". Someone loses their way, and through a dreamlike experience, their resolve returns. That film and Polar Express are superior to all Christmas films for that very reason. Movies like the Grinch had morals and ideas, like Christmas being more than food and toys, only for it to end with... food and toys. And Elf, while it's a classic, nearly gives me diabetes just by watching it. That's all just my lengthy way of saying, Polar Express is a beautiful film with a beautiful story about taking a chance, and our capacity as humans to change. We don't have to live life in doubt, as a Hobo, we could change our fate and be the Conductor or Santa. Sometimes all it takes is the journey.
I was only 4 years old when this amazing movie came out and I Can't wait to watch it again in December of 2020 it's just a really good christmas movie and I'd say it's up there with home alone 1&2 and the grinch and other highly popular and really good christmas movies that have come out over the years
The music the atmosphere the personality of every character and the how realistic it is This movie is just top tier I dont know any Disney/pixar movie make this kind of Harmonic rhythm in a Christmas movie like this I like the gloomy night it has too basically it is amazing so much i have no words for this it makes my skin goosebumps Idk why someone hate it i will watch it even in summer night because it is so dreamy tbh And the theme music amazing too
This made my heart happy! Finally someone who judges the movie fairly. This movie came out almost exactly a month after I was born. I’ve basically watched it my entire life! And it’s because of this movie, that I am now a psychotic fan of trains. I have Aspergers, so when I was like four or five, I would pretty much watch either this movie, or Thomas the tank engine on loop all the damn day. Also, I know what you mean about the scene when the train arrives at the boys house. That scene always got me super scared and excited at the same time! I also remember when the boy first sees the train, and talks to the conductor, the sounds of the train was making in the background always creeped me out. All of the deep metallic groans and clanks. But by far, the scene that scared me the most when I was little, was when the boy pulls the emergency break. Something about that up close shot of the engines wheels halting and grinding up sparks always scared the hell out of me. I love it now though. Also, I 100% agree that the scene where the ticket goes on its little adventure to the wilderness, is the best scene in the movie Cinematical speaking. And don’t even get me started on the score. Alan Silvestri is a God. This is most certainly my favorite Christmas movies, closely followed by Home Hlone 1 and 2, and A Christmas Story.
Thank you for being so positive with this film! A lot of reviewers seem to be very negative towards this movie for their own weird and somewhat valid reasons. Even though this film has some little issues, you should not let that take away the magic this film holds. Besides, what this film does right to me, they are minor issues.
If a film impacts you deeply from a young age and you are still able to enjoy it just as much as you did when you were very young at the time of its release, that's how you know it is extremely special, I'm very glad that you can relate to that. I appreciate your kind words, thank you for watching and commenting. Feel free to discuss more amazing films with me on my Instagram: @thisiszohair_yt
I love this movie. Its amazing animation style that still holds up to this day (Fight me on this), the sound track, the suspense, the heart warming momenst. Just everything is perfect in this movie. I love Tom Hanks voicing the Hobo Ghost dude and the conductor, and i like how he did most of the motion tracking for the characters. And THE best part of this movie is the Hot Chocolate song (prove me wrong on that).
The Polar Express is very personal to me. It was one of my grandmother’s favorite films. I remember almost every Xmas season when we would all watch it together as a family. It was fun, enthralling and always made me smile. When Grandma passed away last month, I found myself coming back to the film again. Even in the darkness, it reminded me that, although she’s not with me in person, she’s always in my heart. God I miss you, Grandma. Dementia sucks. Hold on to your memories while you can... and believe. ❤️🎄🚂

I just want to send you my condolences for your loss, it must be a very difficult time for you, but I am glad to know how much of an impact this film continues to have on you, by remembering the lovely memories with you and your grandmother, keep on remembering those wonderful memories that will comfort you no matter what. During the train on Ice scene I was screaming at the top of my 5 year old voice LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT!
THANK YOU this was my childhood movie
I remember my first time watching this movie. I was in 1st grade, very young. All the students went into the library. There were tables set up everywhere. And every single student got a hot cocoa during the hot chocolate song. Ever since I’ve watched it every year. It’s a very magical feeling movie. And extremely nostalgic.
I feel the same way as you, I cannot wait to watch this film again in a few days on Christmas Eve. It's amazing to share similar memories to so many people such as yourself. Thank you for sharing, please do subscribe for more content and let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to discuss.
Thanks for the video. Every Christmas season I watch a holiday movie. This year I am going to watch Polar Express!! I cannot wait to watch this movie!! Thanks for your video and have a Merry Christmas!!
This movie always hits me with nostalgia. I remember watching this on Christmas Eve and being super excited for Christmas day, which also happens to be my b-day! The score is the most memorable one ever
I think I first seen the film on TV around 2007 to 2009. I watched the film again yesterday on DVD and it was charming as always.
Thank you 😁
Krazy Kajeevie of The James Bond Show 😁🍸
PS - I disagree on two points.
I literally have all of the sounds in this movie memorised... This movie is amazing!
Tbh the FRA (federal railroad administration) would be so furious if they saw the conditions of that track and the design of glacier gultch
despicable tbh
So people like the 2000 Grinch Remake and the 2018 remake, but they hate THIS? “It’s dark”
Yeah that’s the POINT, it’s powerful, you feel like you’re THERE.
It’s still a magical movie
I watched this when I was like 8-10 in school on Christmas occasion with my classmates and I steel get in the feels whenever I think about that moment....... I don't think I will ever forget it.❤️
It's so important to remember them and keep those memories. It really is amazing how powerful a film can be and how much impact it can have on you. Thank you for watching video :)
I have and will watch this movie every single year and I plan on showing it to my kids when I have them
I love this film so much! It has always been my favourite Christmas movie since I was very young🎄🚂
I completely agree with you, it really is a special film, love watching it every Christmas! Thank you for watching!
the score in this movie is just so wonderful
I don’t know why I love this film but for some reason it has a huge place in my heart. And whenever I watch it I get this warm feeling in my heart.
Thank you for watching. Let me know if there are any other films that make you feel the same way. I'd love to make these videos into a regular type of series.
Definitely the best Christmas movie.
Oh my God so glad I found you all guys we should make a community because I really thought I was alone on this one. Everybody around me dislikes this movie, even the children and I just don't understand why. I watch it around 5 times a year even when it's not Christmas time and I don't want to
miss one second of it.
Welcome to the club! Very happy that you could join us haha it really means a lot that you could write this comment, it is one of the reasons why I made this video a few years back, you are absolutely not crazy trust me haha This film will always have a special place in our hearts and much like all of you, I can't wait to watch it again next month. Once again thank you Daniel for watching and sharing your thoughts, stay tuned for more
This has been my favourite Christmas film forever
Sometimes all it takes is the journey.
well said friend!
I was only 4 years old when this amazing movie came out and I Can't wait to watch it again in December of 2020 it's just a really good christmas movie and I'd say it's up there with home alone 1&2 and the grinch and other highly popular and really good christmas movies that have come out over the years
I have the OST on vinyl because it is so beautiful! Every second of "Seeing Is Believing" is perfection.
The music the atmosphere the personality of every character and the how realistic it is
This movie is just top tier I dont know any Disney/pixar movie make this kind of Harmonic rhythm in a Christmas movie like this
I like the gloomy night it has too basically it is amazing so much i have no words for this it makes my skin goosebumps
Idk why someone hate it i will watch it even in summer night because it is so dreamy tbh
And the theme music amazing too
This made my heart happy!
The entire movie is amazing. I never stop watching as I drink hot coco and wear only pjs ^_^
One of the few films that would deserve a live action remake.
#moreloveforpolarexpress
Childhood movie love it!
My favorite Christmas movie of all time. Blessed up 🎄
Thank you for being so positive with this film!
I'm gald there are good review on my favorite Christmas Movie. It's just the embodiment of human belief and imagination
I went to the cinema to see this when it first came out and ever since I've always said it's the best Xmas film ever made
Classic Christmas film.
The nostalgia
I see this movie every year in IMAX. And let me tell you. There is no feeling like it
I envy you for watching it on IMAX
It’s always the first movie I watch in December
I love this movie. Its amazing animation style that still holds up to this day (Fight me on this), the sound track, the suspense, the heart warming momenst. Just everything is perfect in this movie. I love Tom Hanks voicing the Hobo Ghost dude and the conductor, and i like how he did most of the motion tracking for the characters. And THE best part of this movie is the Hot Chocolate song (prove me wrong on that).
Thz for the heart
Thank you for the lovely comment. More content to come!
Wow, thank you for sharing your personal thoughts on the film. I just want to send you my condolences for your loss, it must be a very difficult time for you, but I am glad to know how much of an impact this film continues to have on you, by remembering the lovely memories with you and your grandmother, keep on remembering those wonderful memories that will comfort you no matter what. It's a wonderful thing for us all to share our love for this film and how much it means to us, so I really appreciate you sharing your experience too. Please take care mate, sending you best wishes :)
@@thisiszohair Thanks for the love. Losing my grandma was tough for us. I never realized how difficult it would be to see her once spirited body lying lifeless in an open casket and being lowered underground. Nevertheless, I will forever treasure her kindness, love and support, and I’ll be grateful every day that she was in my life. ❤️✌🏻

who else remembers watching the polar express on the last day of school before winter break while sipping hot cocoa in pjs? just me..? ok...
My Christmas is not fulfilled unless I watch the Polar Express. We always watch it on Christmas Eve, best Christmas Movie in my opinion. My second Christmas film would be Klaus which is a Netflix original film that came out in 2018, very good film would recommend 100%
Bro the thumbnail is so creepy man it’s makes me laugh 😂😂😂 my stomach feels funny
Great review man keep it up the great work 👍🏻🙂. Mind if I ask what are your thoughts on Tim burtons Disney Christmas movie called. The nightmare before Christmas.
