    Thank you for this in depth, concise info. 👊
    I hoping to apply for 2024, next year. Just beginning the process. Haven't hunted out west before, so this helps a lot.

    Excellent and thorough explanation and overview of the all species application process in New Mexico, including a couple hidden in plain sight gems 💎 there.
    I want to hunt elk, aoudad and pronghorn in New Mexico someday soon. Good luck 🍀 on your Barbary Sheep hunt coming soon Trail. Knowing you I am thinking 🤔 it’s an archery 🏹 hunt.

    How long is the turnaround from when the deadline is to when they do the draw and you find out if you were successful or not?

    Had barbary sheep in 32 this year. Saw tons of mule deer and javelina but no sheep. Lots of landlocked public and decent amount of hunters/guides in the better areas. Would apply again tho

    Gohunt do you know why the rifle dates for pronghorn are in September & Oct this year?

  • @BigJohn505
    @BigJohn505 Год назад

    So here is a question I've yet to seen an answer to. Does it increase (For non-residents) or decrease (for residents) the odds if you put a resident as the primary applicant, and have non-residents attach to the resident. Does that move the non-resident out of the 6% pool and into the 84% resident pool being the primary is a resident? Or does it pull the whole group down into the 6% non-resident pool?

    • @BigJohn505
      @BigJohn505 Год назад

      Thanks #GoHunt for dodging my question. Ended up contacting Game and Fish myself and got the regulations straight from their mouth. Would have been nice to get a reply on here!

    • @BigJohn505
      @BigJohn505 Год назад

      FYI TO ALL Since #GOHUNT cannot answer above question: Residents get pulled into the 6% pool if non-residents attach. Do not have non-residents attach with you in New Mexico!

    Best chances to get a non resident antelope tag?

    In regards to landowner tags, are there specific dates we need to pay attention to in order to obtain one of these tags?

    • @rudolphbrian56
      @rudolphbrian56 Год назад

      Landowner tags are not released until about June. What kind of landowner tag are you looking for?

  • @johnpearce7835
    @johnpearce7835 Год назад

    I am pretty sure the only odds that matter the most is the odds of when your application number is drawn, past that there are so many variables that the simplistic odds calculation of applicants/amount of tags is a crap shoot at best. If one thinks there is a xx% chance to draw a particular hunt you're actually just humoring yourself.

      When your application is drawn/considered is the biggest factor, but your choices do matter and some hunts just have better odds of drawing based on how many people apply for them and at what choice they choose those hunts. Our odds are calculated by obtaining the draw data, with all applicants choices and we cycle the draw as the state would thousands of times to generate an odd for each hunt. Certainly those are not predictable because applicants do change the hunts they apply for. We do offer odds for each hunt for the past 5 years so that members can further evaluate potential trends. I see your point, but odds and the hunts your choose to apply for do indeed matter.
