    9:50 that hit differently. I'm always trying to snuff the hitter cross-court since I like to get stuffs instead of my defender digging, but this usually results in many more lost points from my poor angle block or the easy shot cross court. Great humbling piece of advice, do your job to take away and funnel, it's the defenders job to defend and dig that ball, It's not a one man show. Good luck in Cancun 🤙

      Yup! But if your partner know that you might dive if you see a hit then he can react accordingly. So you gotta communicate beforehand... if you could share videos for me. That’d be awesome!

    great explanation of importance of penetration. I like to think very logically and before this video, it made sense to me to spread out my arms more to be able to block more balls. This video made me realize that im able to cut off much more angles if I penetrate or reach for the ball. I finally understand why everyone keeps saying penetrate :/

    A lot of wisdom, thank you so much for this. A have a couple of question, i'm just a beginner that not even played yet so sorry if my questions are obvious and stupid.
    If getting closer to the ball it's top priority and your essencially trying to control the attackers arm with yours, can i have a somewhat Split Block that is more effective than maintaining my arms together? How do i know if i'm putting my arms in the right position in those cases? If reaching sideways handicaps you, how can i jump for 3 and 4s in the most effective way possible, especially on the move (i saw a match of Andre Loyola against Kantor/Losiak and realized that he was making an effort to always jump upright even when running all around the court)? Are the Blocks 3 and 4 always Kill, if they are then how the rule of "the attackers arm cutting you in half" applies to these situations? Is getting touches really worth it? Because if you get one you're gonna have to attack out of position and probably an "Emergency Set" coming from back court and the opponent is on a better position to block you now. Could you talk about timing and how vary it? In what height the ball tends to cross the net? should i be looking for that when trying to match the timing? How to deal with opponents with extreme height difference that are both skillful attackers, do you ever get lost during a fast rally?
    Since i'm short, positioning is super, super important to me and i would love videos about this.

    Awesome video. Are you looking at their shoulder when the attacker is hitting?

      @bourneonthebeach  3 года назад +3

      I don’t look at the shoulder during the hit. I like to watch the hitter swing a few times before the match. Then I can see where on his or her body the make contact. Then I can line up accordingly. On an attack I’m trying to bait the to hit into me more so than reading where they’re going. Blocking off speed is more of a read and react

      @@bourneonthebeach how about offense, when hitting whats the biggest priority you focus on before making contact on the ball? Looking for advanced advice. Thanks👍

    Can you do one on your process and thinking after passing or digging as you transition to attack. You had a crazy kill rate Tokyo break some of that down

      That's a good idea. If I do another tutorial then I'll throw that in there

    Thanks Tri, great vid! I am help a vball friend improve defense. A big piece is understanding the blocker's role in the defensive play, and this vid has helped immensely!
    Can you share net height and size of baby court? We are putting together a court for 8 to 12 year old kids in our neighborhood. Surely they will benefit from a lower net in many ways.
