Oh goodness, know how that poor girl at the end feels. First time I got up barefoot was sitting on a wake board, feet out in front of me. My brother, my buddies and myself had been trying to do this all day with no success, narrow bayou, too much traffic, etc.. Towards the end of the day, I gave it one last try and this is off a ski rope behind a 16' v-hull cruiser, not a Mastercraft with a barefoot bar. I got outside the wake, the bayou was calm at this time of day with no other boats out and my feet just tickling the water, I gave my brother the thumbs up to go to full throttle. Low and behold, I slowly inched my way up with everyone in the boat cheering and for at least 10 full seconds, I experienced surreal bliss as I skated across the water on nothing more than my feet. This ended abruptly with as absolute face plant at something like 35 knots. Despite the pain of it all, and the ribbing from my buddies, I was the only one to get up that day and it was a good feeling. 54 now and that story had to happen some 35-40 years ago now and this outro made me think of it. Lived in Stillwater for about 10 years and went out to CopperLand on several occasions and was fortunate one day to see Sky on the dozer, pushing dirt around on the MX track. My friends and I were trail riding and would stop back by the MX ttrac every 30 mins or so to see what was happening. Towards the end of the day, we went for one last check and there he was, after his SX career was over, just building giant dirts ramps to get big air. We just sat there in awe as we swore to each other later that he had been 50 feet in the and had cleared a football field. I still have a YZ426F that was raced by a Stillwater local in amateur AMA and had been serviced at Coops Moto Shop in Stillwater. I'm too old for that beast now but she sits on a centerstand in my shop, giving me something to look back on and my friends and I something to tell lies over, about how great we used to be! Good times but getting old sucks.
