I feel this for sure! I've been writing game reviews for eight years just because I like having a record of the games I played and how I felt about them in the moment. I've never shared them with anyone other than close family, and I honestly hate writing, but I love having those reviews for myself. It's a lot of fun to look back and see how much my writing has improved and how my tastes have changed. I'm also at the point where the imperfections are fine because they're just for me, but if I ever tried to monetize it, I know I would try to tweak my writing to oblivion and it wouldn't be special anymore.
I know some people want RUclips to be their business. They want to go full time and make money doing what they enjoy which is making videos. However I think once you start uploading videos for money, it's no longer a hobby. It now becomes a job. Jobs are never as fun as hobbies and I think that's part of the reason why people get burnt out or their video quality declines. Working a 9-5 may not be very exciting but it gives you a break and you usually feel refreshed or come up with neat ideas during that break. You also get to interact with people, compared to video editing which tends to be a very quiet job in a dark room.
Exactly! I think the dream come true would be having a job you enjoy- followed up with a creative hobby that if it makes money great if not no biggie cuz ya already have your job lol
