It's too late. I just received word from my family that the whole town has burnt down. UPDATE: According to latest news about 40-50% of town has burnt and most of the dense residential areas are hit. Primarily the west end of town is the one that took the most damage.

In Vancouver every year I have to close the windows and spray water mist to take the smoke out of the air. I also take a spray bottle with me camping in the Kootenays in case of smoke. It really helps a lot.
Totally understand your struggle. In vancouver over the past number of years we have been getting so much smoke in the summer. I have asthma, so I had to get air purifiers to help keep the air in my place cleaner and portable AC so I can keep cool with the windows closed. It definitely helps during fire season. I can smell the smoke in the air outside where I am now. Preparing for when it really rolls in more.

I want some one to explain to me what causes these fires ? We were there last Saturday & there was no rain of lightening ! The temp was about 95 F but @ night temp goes down to 60+/- F. Just dried & high temp just like in Florida, we have rain, thundering, tornados, hurricanes but there is no gov prohibitions. What I think is that the manufacturing of woods which is largest in these provinces create the fires to obtain their wood tree. I saw about 100 trucks carrying woods from BC to Alberta. Certainly they don't care about wild life....
Was a bus driver giving a tour and saw , i think he said some kinda bonfire or pile of wood fire, he tried to douse it but no luck, by the time the fire dept came it was nearing football field size. Later on, he ended up evacuating a bunch of tourists into BC. Dunno what relationship this has to which of the two fires, but that was the story
These forest used to burn on a 60 to 80 year interval before humans became involved. Sometimes that period was longer or shorter depending on what nature decided. It was the forests way to renew itself to get rid of dead and diseased trees as well as preventing other species such as fir taking over pine stands. The old growth forests you see in that park are not really natural. Sooner or later mother nature wins.
