I’ve only been listening to stray kids since ordinary came out and OMG I noticed Bangchan immediately. His adlibs seriously drew me in and I appreciate his talent very much.
Honestly, I've watched multiple reactions trying to find someone to notice it. And I haven't until now. 😭
Yes!! (I know this is an old video I’m just now getting caught up on but) this is the first reaction I’ve seen where someone loves on that insanely hot ad lib behind the chorus, because fair, that beat is crazy and …it’s Felix. But those ad libs!!! My favorite part of the song! Thanks for the validation in this lil comment thread. 😊

I glad you noticed too. Hyunjin is good but he can’t go that deep.
The maniac portion of the lyrics is layered with Felix. But the rest of it is pretty solidly Hyunjin. He doesn’t have as deep a voice as Felix but usually when he raps his tone tends to be on the higher end than when he’s speaking so this rap is different in comparison.

Han has actually been utilized as a vocalist since pre-debut. That's actually one of the reasons he had impressed JYP off the bat. In fact, during the Levanter era, he was taking a bulk of vocalist lines (and not much rapping) since the former main vocalist had left and they were recalibrating (he also had a bulk of the former main vocalist's lines from the older songs when they rerecorded after he left bc he could match in belts, power, and range. In fact there are certain areas where Han even did it better, like using head voice in My Pace instead of the original falsetto that the former main vocalist did). I think SKZ really figured out their strengths now and they've all improved so much that they can balance the tasks amongst themselves much better, so Han can also do both rapping and vocals a lot more equally or wherever 3RACHA sees it fit, making him a lot more versatile now.
And then Seungmin had a comeback and became a main vocalist material I'm just so proud of him...
Love the reaction. Just a quick thing, They actually utilized Han's singing quite a lot even before Kingdom, because of his naturally high tenor voice and almost limitless range. You can check out Never Ending Story by Stray Kids: a nice ballad kdrama ost by Stray Kids where Han kind of takes the vocal front wheel.

EDIT: I totally agree with you that you like that Stray Kids don't really have set positions because I do also agree that seeing that they can do it all (or at least work towards being able to do it all) to me makes them so different. The fact they can create their music and give it just that much of a personal touch, they work and love each other, they know how to utilize everyone. It's so hard to not see that they really are an amazing group. I've never stanned a Kpop group before but Stray Kids is the first group I actually really really love and enjoy so much. 😭❤️
The live Music Bank performance just came out, you can see BangChan singing " You cannot stop with this feeling" adlib live. The camera man pointed it out well and you can also watch his fancam!
I think what makes Stray Kids songs so good, is that 3racha just know how to push the members in all the right places. They are so close that they know all their strenghts and weakneses and they grow with each other without being stuck in their ways. They are just maniacs enjoying what they love the most, and that is music, and it shows in each and every song they make.
No one could ever make a song for them that would sound better then if 3racha made a song for them, if you know what I mean.
yes, it is really important to know your team strengths and weaknesses but never let them carry - treasure strengths and work on weaknesses. they have rare combo! :)

This is my first Stray Kids comeback and I totally love the album! My favourite song is definitely Charmer but I looooooove Maniac, especially Han’s “it ain’t live it’s holding on yeah” for some reason I just really love that sentence hahaha

We went 'I bet the stylist tries to give him a long sweater and Chan just goes "ew no belly out 24/7 guys"' and then you were watching and said "Bangchan really hates being tucked in. You're spot on because Chan has actually said he finds it uncomfortable to dance and move unrestricted with his shirt tucked in. So if its not a loose untucked top he asks the stylists to cut his shirts. That was a while back. I dont think he has to ask anymore lol

Hyunjin on that second chorus is FIRE! He’s such a freaking ACE.
Felix’s voice is not just deep, but also have charming tone that’s different from other deep voice idol. His tone can easily identified,but his singing voice is variable at the same time. That’s why I love him😚
Yeah, sometimes Hyunjin sing in lower tone too like in Victory Song and District 9, sometimes i got confused too cause i thought that was Felix, but actually Hyunjin.
Sometimes when Han singing, i hear Hyunjin voices too like in "Wish You Back" and in "Wolfgang" ot7.
It’s Felix singing the maniac bit though so don’t get confused. Hyunjin sings after Felix says maniac.

Yea when I first got into their music I would get confused with Han and Hyunjin’s raps cause they both tend to rap at a higher tone and they don’t sound too different except for their rap styles. But Hyunjin is capable of going lower than we usually see from him. I think he just has more of a vocal fry when he does it so that’s how I can tell his voice is different from Felix’s.
He can actually go really low. If you watch their My Pace performance in japan his live singing are very deep.

I like what they did with the second chorus, in that Hyunjin took that part (and the members generally have the freedom to choose their parts, so this was something Hyunjin himself must have wanted to do) and they let him show off his range there, but still layered Felix's voice into the lowest moments to add the weight and fullness while letting Hyunjin's voice remain in the forefront. (A lot of them can hit near the low end of Felix's range -- especially Seungmin and Chan -- without strain, but the timbres are just so, so, so different from what Felix's is in that same space. I honestly tend to think the biggest standout about Felix's voice isn't actually his low range but his timbre; everything he sings sounds an octave lower than anyone else singing the exact same notes. 😆)

Just wanted to point out that all of the maniac parts have Felix’s voice layered. It might not be that noticeable in the MV but you can definitely hear Felix if you pay attention. Its also more noticeable in they’re live performances.
Lee Know comes out of nowhere for absolutely everyone... Usually you notice Felix first because of that deep voice... Then you discover your actual bias, and if it's not Lee Know, just give it time, he'll come wreck you hahaha.. Han is my bias because of singing, rapping and if you watch their vlogs, he is simply amazing.. But I do love them all.
sadly changbin is tested positive cov19 today and they had to temporarily halt all of their activities and promotions. the good news is they are about to debut on the u.s late night show and early prediction says stray kids is in the battle for #1 on billboard 200 which if they succeed they will be the 3rd korean act to ever hit #1

When it comes to bias it’s actually the other way round for me lol. Lee know is my bias but Felix never fails to wreck me.

Chan at 3 am in a crop top adding the add libs just had me, jajaja. Totally right about that. Yeah, it’s amazing how they just keep doing new and different things, birds and hard beats. I loved I.N’s and Lee Know’s lines, Chan’s gorgeous high note and the chorus. SKZ is our world. Note: be careful with Lee Know, he’s dangerous, beautiful voice, caring hyung, espectacular dancer. I would say bias wrecker but one cannot have a bias in SKZ.
Firstly, your voice is very soothing, I love watching your videos! Thank you! As far as Lee Know, I agree 100%....he is a slow burn for sure and totally bias wrecked me out of nowhere.. His singing on this album is beautiful and I feel like I really got to hear him especially in the unit song. Hearing Hyunjin in that lower register was so nice too. My students are about to hear it on repeat too!😆

Those ad libs are amazing, and if you check out the live version, you can see IN and Seungmin take over and do the ones at the end. They all killed it. Lee Know is really standing out to me on this album. Not just his dancing, but vocally too. And INs voice is sounding more mature to me in some of the songs too. Such gorgeous vocals!

15:48 Funny you mention that, because my first thought was: "of course it works!" For me, hearing "Maniac" and a bird sound makes 100% sense. Then it hit me. I'm german and we have a saying in german-speaking countries that says someone, who is crazy "has a bird". Back than people thought that birds could cause mental illnesses by nesting in people’s heads.
Sooooo I have no idea if this is something exclusively to german-speakers or if there are similar sayings in different countries but if not, I'm really curious if 3RACHA did reseach or maybe they have someone, who gave them the idea for the bird sound or maybe it's just coincidence (but it's 3RACHA so I doubt it).

The bird stands metaphorically for the "MANIAC" inside all of us that is normally caged to fit the social norms, so everytime we get to the chorus we can hear the bird sound that signals that the bird/MANIAC is freed.
Nonetheless they made it work! That's the 3RACHA magic doing its thing.
