Homelander has got to be one of the best recent villains, he was so well written, and Anthony Starr nailed the acting. Great video.

I can’t help but get chills whenever I hear that. He somehow made the phrase itself feel so backhanded.
I love that he has all of those lines and gestures, but he does them so much that you know it’s just an act
This line also makes me think about the boys and how they're powerless normal humans except for "the female" and how they really are the heros

Gotta say Butcher (Karl Urban) nailed the job and portrayed the character perfectly but Homelander... Damn, Homelander stole every scene he was in, even the ones with Butcher, Anthony Starr made a *PERFECT* 20/10 performance here and I cannnoottt wait for season 2

The worst villains always see themselves as the hero. Hey just might be the greatest villain in tv history 5 years from now. Great character and great show.

You know that feeling... That uncomfortable crawling sensation when you first see Homelander, that suspicious but friendly vibe he puts up around him.. that feeling once crawled up my spine a long time ago when I first saw Ramsey Bolton and Joffrey Lannister in the TV screen a few years ago and boy, I got to say, those were one of the best villains I've ever loved and hated then here comes Homelander... I don't hate him, I don't love him, I'm fucking scared of him everytime his eyes look at the camera like expecting his eyes to glow red and incinerate me right on the spot, and that, THAT I must say is a beautiful acting nailed by Antony Starr
Not necessarily, there's plenty of great villains that are aware of being villains. He is a great psychopath though.

You know Homelander is a great villain because when he appears, he's unpredictable and he terrifies the audience. Very well written character !!!

In the comic when he goes off the deep end he takes over the white house beheads the president then carves a dick hole in the back of his skull. All in all pretty tame.

A scary aspect of this version of the Homelander is that he’s not an idiot like in the comics. Comic Homelander is comparable to that of an adult man-child, throwing temper tantrum‘s and just using his powers to obscene degrees. This Homelander just wants something more simple. To be loved and admired by others. And the length that he is willing to go is beyond scary, it’s down right insane. This man is unstable as unstable can be. But the difference is that beyond does eyes of evil and unending death and destruction, is just a boy trying to compensate for being nothing more then a lab rat who never had a home, a mother, a father, and no real friends throughout his entire life.
With each season, his mask of sanity is starting to break, and it’s only a matter of time where it does.

He is chaotic evil. If you look in hindsight he had saved a lot more people than the boys, albeit for selfish purposes.
He is more like Antihero.... Like Red Son.... Pure Evil in this show is SPOILER: Black Noir..... Homelander is in comics and this show more like reforming antihero....

Easily the most unpleasant character I think I've ever seen portrayed on film or TV. Honestly, there's something inherently chilling and nauseating about a genuinely evil person with no discernible weaknesses. It doesn't feel unreal either. Substitute obscene wealth for superpowers and you've got every prick who's currently destroying the planet in our world right now.

One of the most well written villians out there, great acting by Anthony Starr as well.
Homelander is legitimately one of the most terrifying villains I’ve ever encountered in media. He’s such a perfect embodiment of evil and to be honest all that is wrong with America. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a villain so perfectly nailed down that has unsettled me so much but kept me so hooked at the same time. Superhero’s might not exist but there are definitely some Homelanders in the real world lying to your face and you don’t even know it and that’s what makes him so utterly terrifying to me.

You know a villain is terrifying when instead of getting impressed by him you get terrified when he is on screen.
Homelander's existence supports Zemo's belief that most superpowered/enhanced people can't be separated from supremist ideals and shouldn't exist. In fact, MCU's Zemo would fit in well with the Boys.
I also want Lex Luthor in this universe.
Season 2 better not try to redeem him tho. This guy should be the main antagonist of The Boys series. Fullstop.

After watching a bunch of homelander clips I really noticed just how fake his smile always is, it gets kinda creepy to once you really notice it. The actor nailed it very well done.
He's unstable and it's slipping into his smile more and more often. That should scare everyone.

This is a legendary character already! Not only it is amazing to see everyone being rightly terrifyed of him, and his personality being a mix of charm and psychotic carelessness, but he is also a reflection on American (or we could now say global) politics, media, etc.
I love how this great tribute was made before Season 2 & 3 were out. It didn’t take long for Antony to solidify himself as one of the greatest TV villains ever.
Incredible performance... can't stop watching Homelander scenes every day. Honestly, it's the same acting level to me as Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York, Gary Oldman in Leon: the Professional, Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet.
Fan editors who are just starting out on youtube can use this as a great tool to help them, a template of sorts. It's not too complexed, it's perfectly well balanced but filled with great transitions, good flow, and 10/10 perfect timing. Lotta great things to pull from this edit.

Anthony Starr makes me love him as an actor so damn much because he was able to convey the kind of emotions that makes your skill crawl and your heart twisted. His character was so splendidly and cruelly written that he is right up there with the best characters such as Heath as the Joker or Peter as Tyrion..etc...

Homelander is at once, one of the most horrific, and sympathetic characters on television. A completely sociopathic, self-serving monster, and also a guy who grew up with not a single person who loved him, and who was turned into a villain by a combination of having nobody in his life, and being given Compound V as a baby. This is how you make a good antagonist. You make sure the audience knows he’s dangerous, evil, and completely ruthless, but at the same time, you give him a backstory that explains just how a guy that could have been the world’s greatest hero turns into a global threat.

Before I watched this show, I used to think, damn that guy is a straight up copy of Superman. Couldn't have been more wrong.

I love the way you highlighted Homelander's double-faced personality by juxtaposing scenes demonstrating his angelic "brand" alongside scenes that truly show his devilish behavior. There is just something so damn terrifying about Homelander, but it is terrifying in a very charming way too which is what makes him so interesting. A good villain always holds your attention by being both terrifying and charming which is what Homelander is succeeding at greatly.

Every once in a while I come back to this video, and I'm always breathless like the first time, I'm just so caught up in the moment, in how perfect everything is that I can't even describe it.
Its funny because Im not scared of anything in any movie or story or whatever but homelander.... Every time that i see him smiling and giving a motivatinal speach, that's when I feel what animals feel when they see his predator and there is no escape from him
