It’s amazing to see just how popular Stonestown got during the pandemic. When malls like Westfield and Tanforan were dwindling,Serramonte and Stonestown thrived.Looking forward to what other businesses are planning to come to Stonestown, nows the time to strike🙏🏼
its called Gashopon in Japan. Its nothing new, they are just bringing in the Claws, Gashopon and arcades back to the mall like how it was in the 80s and 90s.
The longtime McDonald's location at San Francisco's Stonestown Galleria closed on June 23, 2024 after 30 years. The franchise owner, Scott Rodrick owns more than a dozen McDonald’s across Northern California. He has been very vocal about the rising price of doing business in California. "It's not wage, we're talking about massive insurance costs that have gone up in the state of California, if you can get it," he said. "Government regulations that sometimes choke the lifeblood and oxygen out of small business entrepreneurship. Obviously, back door costs have skyrocketed, milk, eggs, the cost of beef, chicken." In published reports about this closure Rodrick has also said the leasing costs at Stonestown were also part of his decision to shut it down.
Yeah, but the Westfield has a bunch of ninjas hanging out that will bust heads for a buck. They gotta get hella armed security and real cops with tac gear to protect the area if they're going to do something like this at Westfield. They should also lower prices on things. Easy way to do that is for city not to charge employee tax and food tax for a few years until the place gets back on his feet. The Zionist mayor won't do anything about it though. He's full of sht.
I highly doubt if the proposed big project can be derailed by an amusement arcade operator. They're noisy and glitzy and costs a ton of money to keep open. Besides, big money investment interests are already locked in on a very promising potential.
basically a dave and busters.......IMO the outlet malls is whats killing old school malls because of the discounts you get there for instance..........a pair of air max 90 at the nike outlet is $90 bucks but at the mall they are $130
Those claw machines are definitely a scam The point is the plush has to drop into the hole as you try to lift. It's not meant to lift and pull to the box like the real old school claw machine
Not really. There are people who are really good at them. There are tricks you can do to like tossing the claw at an angle so when the prize drops after bumping the top, it goes towards the hole rather than striagt down.
The claw games are literally gambling. It's real money gambling, and at the very least we should obey the existing laws and make them for adults only like a slot machine. Anyone who understands how they work would know not to play them.
I remember back in the early 1990's they used to have an Arcade Room/location at Serramonte Shopping Center in Daly City. The Mall got tired of the issues that it was causing all the time. The Arcade ending up closing down a couple years after it opened because kids kept getting in fights at the arcade location and the kids kept trying to break the arcade games on purpose. Now 30+ years later (2024) you have to be worried about kids coming into the Arcade with weapons on them. Hope this Arcade has multiple Security Guards walking around the location at all times. For everyones safety.
I've been there multiple times and nothing has happened yet. I think it's because there are too many adults around plus there are pretty well staffed. Also they definitely have their own security with cameras. It's run like a casino.
Lol. There is no way that thing is making any profit after rent and expenses. They’re trying so hard to act like malls and downtown have any hope in the new world.
Everything old is new again. Arcades returning to malls is kind of an inevitability. (They have DDR as a mini-tabletop game. Who knew?) Time Out is long gone, but there are others.
You do not have to pay you can just call them, usually big corps have media teams that send a press release to all local media. Some times they pick it up sometimes they don't depends on the news day.
“The my might want to hold off on housing as the parking lot is once again full.” Tax revenue from housing would be magnitudes higher than a depressing, soulless, car lot. Not to mention that with housing, the mall would have a far more consistent base of customers. Better able to withstand the booms and the busts.
No more new housing in SF. Seriously. There are 20% less residents NOW than there were prior to lockdowns. The push to add more housing is for developers only, not for regular residents in SF who can't afford rent. This is the first good thing that's happened to SF in a really long time. They should do more of this type of thing.
Does not matter the laws of supply and demand state the larger the supply and the less demand forces prices down. Take in 2009 huge supply low demand houses were going for nothing, now huge demand low supply prices are through the roof.
Idk why everything has to be dave and busters make a real arcade for gamers not just try to get money out of people with luck machines i miss the old days of arcades
The best thing I’ve seen in news in the last few years.
Thank you, Round One.
I love the news using "Frustrated claw gamer" as the descriptor
Revival of the arcades.. LOVE IT!
I grew up with arcade games and there used to be one in every mall.
Aladins Castle :D
Yeah I remember. When they took game rooms out of the mall, the mall got boring.
@@EnlistedBombin Bally's was fun, too; there were a few of them around in my area way back when.
Pachinko parlors next? lol
But seriously thanks Japan for never giving up on arcades.
I went into one of those in Japan years ago. I had to walk right back out. God, the smell. A mix of cigarette smoke and armpits.
@@fixpacifica Well luckily there are rules in California to smoking indoors... the armpits you're still stuck with though
@@Mike__Bpeople are taking showers daily in USA, maybe water is too expensive in Japan
@@fixpacifica pachinko parlors are their form of slot machines. So degenerate mecca.
arcades in japan are garbage now. nothing but UFO catcher and gatchapon.

Very well targeted stores for the huge asian populationl. I go there all the time for my kids!
Tanforan was dying for years before the pandemic. I believe it's being turned into an office complex?
Thank you Round One.
This is what the kids need!!
DDR is making a comeback? I remember kids playing that while smoking cigs in the local bowling alley back in the early 2000s.
I guess it's pretty similar to TikTok dancing.
Getting up and moving is a good thing
They need more ddr style games. I think there's only 5 and they are more or less always occupied.
Stonestown's parking lots have been pretty full for a while now (at least on weekends).
It's all people living in their cars
@@matteframe your momma lives in her car
it’s just xmas people. after the holidays it will be dead again
@@matteframe No, those people are out on Winston.
Stonestown has been popping for years. They have not had much trouble
The mall arcade is the place to be again... Nature is healing!
I don't like the emphasis on claw games, they're slot machines for kids
❤yeah.. bring them back. The gun zombie, street fighters, racing, dance dance rev, etc. Be sure to have security as requirement..
its called Gashopon in Japan. Its nothing new, they are just bringing in the Claws, Gashopon and arcades back to the mall like how it was in the 80s and 90s.
Stonestown has been quite popular in the recent years even without Round1 …
2:19 "Dylan Guillermo: Frustrated Claw Gamer." 😂🤣
The dad talking about the house always wins as his daughter just wins lol love it
Japan bringing some much needed entertainment back to SF. I shall visit soon!!!!
ラウンドワン、アメリカにもあったのか!
現地の人々を楽しませていて嬉しい☺️
I’m happy for Stonestown, only sad part is knowing that McDonald’s is leaving or gone.

@YoRAHeem get me a E coli Dubble cheese burger 🍔 don't worry it wasn't the cheese lol
This business model has been in Asia for a while! My son has spent so much on these machines when we were in Asia this summer.
You can tell that kid's voice is about to drop an octave with puberty lol
I love Round One! Stonestown certainly knows how to do business.
The mall in west Phoenix arizona did the same things. Turned a huge old department store into a 2 story arcade with bowling etc ...
squabbles def taking place there 🤣
🙄
100%
When I was a teenager, Stonestown was kind of the small, boring mall compared to Westfield, Serramonte and Tanforan; now I’m glad to live nearby 😂
But also with Westfield basically empty downtown… this is all we have left 🤣
There is parking there but not at Westfield
Yeah, but the Westfield has a bunch of ninjas hanging out that will bust heads for a buck. 2:16 Bruh that girl in the back won a prize though 😂😂😂😂😂
Bring the early 2000s back
1970s.
Bring the 80s, 90s & 2000s back
Finally some positive news coming from the bay area
Way the economy is 😂 What a great!💸💸 idea 💡 👏
Miss Stonestown Galleria mall. Sorry to hear Nordstroms left. I'll be sure to visit this arcade when I return home.
I highly doubt if the proposed big project can be derailed by an amusement arcade operator. They're noisy and glitzy and costs a ton of money to keep open. Besides, big money investment interests are already locked in on a very promising potential.
I support all aspects of this!
This has always been around in Asian malls, so glad to see this here
You don't sell goods. You sell experience.
this wasn't an infomercial
was it ?
I haven’t been lucky playing the claw machine. But I’ve seen people winning it. Just not me.
I like that they specified that the bar is for adults.
So the modern day mall is the Metreon in 1999.
Never forget metron arcade one of the best of its time
Remember that game where you were a ball going around the city?! That was excellent. Also, the PlayStation store.
this Round One ad 😂
Went there. Karaoke rooms were fun
unless they start prosecuting drug possession and shoplifting again, everybody is just gonna buy online
They need to add in vintage arcade games too like Pac-Man, etc…
Asteroids!!
Amen
And this is a good thing? Teaching people to gamble, drink and waste time and money.
Round1 has no alcohol
@@thesynthguy_1428It has a full bar. That's why parents like going there. They let the kids loose and get a drink in. 😂
@stevelouie5928 it has a full restaurant, but no alcohol is served nor permitted in the place
@thesynthguy_1428 The one in Stonestown has a full bar. I was just there this weekend. They even showed it and mentioned it in this video.
basically a dave and busters.......IMO the outlet malls is whats killing old school malls because of the discounts you get there for instance..........a pair of air max 90 at the nike outlet is $90 bucks but at the mall they are $130
Malls need to take notes. Entertainment is the new trend now.
Those claw machines are definitely a scam
The point is the plush has to drop into the hole as you try to lift. It's not meant to lift and pull to the box like the real old school claw machine
The smaller machines are better. I won a plushie yesterday
Claw machines a scam you say.
The sky is also blue too. In case you didn’t know.

DDR is great game for an arcade - it’s social, it’s physical, it’s fun, and there are lots of different levels of difficulty
Lol. There is no way that thing is making any profit after rent and expenses. They’re trying so hard to act like malls and downtown have any hope in the new world.
1980’s style family fun again. BUT…we all know a ‘certain Youth group’ will enter and cause problems, again destroying a great idea.
Everything old is new again. Arcades returning to malls is kind of an inevitability.
(They have DDR as a mini-tabletop game. Who knew?)
Time Out is long gone, but there are others.
"Why not both" ? The mall near my old home has a Round 1, as well as a lot of the anchor stores being torn down and turned into condos.
0:30 Miss opportunity John to say the newest tenant here is "making its rounds"
Would love to see them come to Florida
Like this concept it will do well for a bit but once the hype dies down the mall will be empty again 😢
Did round1 or the mall pay these guys to cover it?
Seems a little odd to have news coverage over a new round1 opening.
You do not have to pay you can just call them, usually big corps have media teams that send a press release to all local media. Some times they pick it up sometimes they don't depends on the news day.
Gosh reminds me if pac-man fever and the arcades of the 80’s
They'll try anything but cleaning up the crime and homeless.
Those are already getting cleaned up.
Round One is cool. It's a little expensive though. A $60 credit will be gone in 30 minutes or less.
Innane race to bottom. Entertainment Included.
Artificial Intelligence All TOO human .
I really hope San Francisco isn't relying on claw games to save it.
San Francisco will be okay.
DDR is so fun!
Round 1 is way more fun than D&B

This seems fun😊
San Francisco is so behind every state already have this
Why does Japan own a basement in a big shopping mall? Get other countries out of our commerce.

ARCADES FOREVER!
they've been around forever in socal
Claw game is very much a skill.
Looks fun.
😂😂😂so were going backwards .. Every mall used to have an arcade 🤦
opening a business in SF is suicide
Adidas Superstar got the moves down .
Keep in mind that this is the exception not the rule.🤣😂
Are they calling arcades a new type of business? The media is so stupid....
Recall newsome and replace with a republican. Maybe then will SF see people again
Idk why everything has to be dave and busters make a real arcade for gamers not just try to get money out of people with luck machines i miss the old days of arcades
So McDonald's closes and an arcade opens??????????????? If it gets kids away from their phones and interacting with people. It's a good thing.
Casinos next😮
Us needd pop mart!
isn’t this in daily city and round one is not new.
No its in San Francisco
Serramonte Mall has Dave & Buster's. Restaurant and arcade.
SF is cooked if it’s relying on arcade games to revitalize it.
Society as a whole is cooked because it threw away everyone’s 3rd place and now it’s starting to come back. Log off social media and go live.
Youre whack 😂
Nice
and were closed again
TILT CUPERTINO!!
What a joke.
🎉
