Very similar. It’s just as short sighted, reactionary, primitive...and understandable. Someone sees an issue manifested as a group of people and they want to put a physical border between it and them. But that doesn’t solve the actual problem. They need comprehensive policy change to resolve the housing crisis going on there, extensive public housing to give the homeless somewhere to live while the overall issue gets fixed, and expanded mental health and addiction programs. A wall of rocks doesn’t reduce the number of homeless people.
We need the same thing on a national level for illegal immigrants. They come here to work. So give them work visas. Companies can no longer underpay then and undercut the minimum wage, meaning they’d no longer be “stealing jobs”. They’d be working for the same pay. And as a nation we’d get a whole new wave of bilingual, second generation immigrants with a powerful work ethic and a drive to do better than their parents. It’s long overdue.
Side note, but a border wall solves nothing. Even if you absolutely think we need to stop immigration from south of the border, a walll won’t do that. Most illegal immigrants get temporary visas so they can enter legally and just don’t leave.

I had to say goodbye yo a lot of people who didnt have the guts to face their inner issues and stop doing drugs. They where too big of a a heroes to be sensible and actually try to deal with their traumas and problems. Now... some of them just have gone through such horrible things.

@o z You act as if it's all drugs and mental illness. It's not. I live here too. I see the same things. Did it ever occur to you that many of these people simply fell on hard times? Rents are continuously increasing, along with general cost if living, while wages remain stagnant. It's literally pushing people out onto the streets everyday. So many people are simply getting priced out of housing. It's all over the news. Also, most shelters only allow you to stay overnight. You can't store your belongings there, and you're forced to do demeaning chores, which drives some of these people away. There's also WAY more homeless people than shelters. This is why there are so many on the streets. We simply need AFFORDABLE housing, fist and foremost, which would fix a lot of these homelessness problems overnight. I'd LOVE to be able to afford REAL housing for a change, instead of being stuck sleeping between a kitchen sink and a living room TV, while going insane with depression from the lack of personal space and privacy. I'm basically borderline homeless. My area literally looks like an indoor homeless encampment, like something you'd see on Skid Row, except jammed into the corner of a house. There is literally a record number of young adults now, who are stuck living with their parents due to economic reasons. It's not right. Nobody should be living like this, especially those who are working and trying to succeed. There's literally individuals and entire families living in their cars right now, who already have jobs, yet still can't afford housing. It's seriously THAT bad. Entire "60 Minutes" specials have been done about this.

As a side note I think the rocks add to the landscaping of just concrete, they look nice at best.
The hard part of homelessness in california is a good number of them HONESTLY DON"T WANT HELP OR TO HAVE A HOME... shocker. I served an 18 month mission in southern california, met meany ex-homeless people and they told me how frustrating it was to be with other homeless because many live for that free lifestyle and have no intentions of changing any time soon if at all. Its also hard when you have such a rampant mental health problem among homeless as well down in california.
One time a homeless lady with a shopping cart chased us down the numbered streets of huntington beach screaming that WE specifically ruined her life until we lost her and she started that up with some other random people all the while trying to run them over with her shopping cart. I feel bad since those people were probably there to see the surfing competition going on at the time. they got more than they bargained for.
Other times One lady regularly would dart out in traffic at a intersection and would go up to your car when stopped or moving slowly at a red light or turn left light and would pound and scream at your door window while trying to open your car door. I always worried that if she got too close I might run her foot over if I kept moving so you were just stuck there hoping she wouldn't break into your car or window and would lose interest and walk away.
One time a man did that same thing late at night, scared me and my missionary companion so bad because it was so dark, he then stumbled away and was shouting to himself and a tree.
This intersection was right across from our apartment complex in norwalk so we had to use the intersection to go home, there was no going around this issue. I felt bad for those people, but there wasn't anything we could do, they were a hazard to themselves and everyone else.
    California has issues....

OH and by the way I know homeless people and homeless people do not look like that they look like homeless people a crackhead and a meth head look like a crackhead and a meth head.

Here’s the solution I propose to end the homeless crisis.
If you are homeless, you are required to seek services to improve your situation. Such as shelters, ect.
However if you refuse services and remain homeless and not attempting to improve your situation, it is required you relocate in a military style encampment. This is not prison, this is a re-educated facility to help you become a normal citizen again.
If you reject the encampment, you will go to jail, or mental health emergency facilities.
