  • Hey guys! I know I already posted these videos separately, but I mainly wanted to post them as a whole video so I could actually talk about this concert and what all I took away from it (plus it gave me an excuse to use one of the pictures I took as a video cover haha). So going back in time a little bit, I first got into the Oak Ridge Boys back in 2018 when I decided out of the blue to check out more of their music. After hearing “Sail Away” on the radio, it really caught my attention and I wanted to check them out more (despite already knowing their biggest hit “Elvira”). The more I delved into their catalog, the more I wished I could see them in concert, but I figured it’d never happen. That being said, you could probably imagine the shock when I realized that five years later, I finally had that golden opportunity. Going into it, I didn’t entirely know what to expect besides Joe sitting down due to his physical condition, but the amount of excitement and anticipation I had leading up to the start of the show was unimaginable. The show itself was great; and seeing these guys and hearing them sing the way they did was such a good feeling throughout. I think my favorite part of the whole show was when they sat down and did some songs off of their newest album at the time, “Front Porch Singin’”. Although I wish I had gotten footage of those songs, it was still such a thrill to hear those songs live and sound EXACTLY the way they did on the record. By the time we got to Elvira and Bobbie Sue, we were all on our feet singing along. After the show, I even bought a vinyl copy of “Front Porch Singin’” to take home, which has since become one of my favorite albums that they ever did. Looking back on this concert, I’m all the more thankful I got to go knowing now that it would be the first but sadly last time I’d get to see all four of the guys together before Joe retired. Regardless, I still like to look back on this concert knowing that it was finally a dream come true. One more note I want to add, this was the Villages, so I knew when I walked in that I was completely outnumbered by all the old people there haha. It wasn’t a big deal but it was definitely a funny feeling.
