This was my Dad's best friend's favourite ever song, he had a cassette which was made entirely of this song on repeat, on both sides. The poor guy died in the early 2000s. I barely knew him but I always think of him and the ultimate old-school bromance he & my Dad had whenever I hear this song.
Easy now nothing. This is better than anything the beetles, Elvis The Eagles..you name the bandthis is better than any song they ever wrote.@@W81Researcher
In the early 80´s.......a troubadour at a bar in Pto de la Cruz,Teneriffe played this song. That night i proposed to my girlfriend......and now we´ve been married for 26 years... :-) It´s our song......
I'd never heard this song before today, but I was watching a video about Mike Oldfield - specifically about the Exorcist theme (Tubular Bells), which he composed/performed. They mentioned this song in the video and it's beautiful!
My gym teacher used to play this in class to 'motivate' us. Everyone else in my class hated it and called me lame for liking such an 'old sounding' song. But I adore it and I'm proud. :) It's probably the only thing my gym teacher ever taught me...
Always loved this song. When I was at school, before I had it on a CD, I used to insist on going to a local cafe that had a jukebox at least once a week so we could put this on.
I love this song so much. My mom played a lot of music by Mike Oldfield back in the day, early 80s. I especially love this song. Now showing my guy and he LOVES it too. So cool ❤
The very video with the same intro I saw as a child - I thought I lost, like swallowing a painful scream - this hurt, I saw an exquisite picture and beautiful lyrics - Try as I may, I couldn’t find this song no matter how much I wracked my brain and stomach.
Brilliant song, I love the guitar and drums. Maggie was my favourite Mike Oldfield's vocalists with songs such as this and To France, Crystal Ball and a few others. I remember hearing this song when I was about 9 or 10 and thought I was being transported into another distant world. I still get that vague feeling now listening to it.
I didn't need Todd in the Shadows to bring me here. It's one of my all-time favorite songs. Watching Todd's "Tubular Bells" video just reminded me that I needed to hear it again. ❤
The good song is that one, who is playing on radio stations all the time. Moonlight Shadow is one of that songs. Almost 30 years and still catchy. In reallity we can call that a MASTERPIECE
remember playing this on a cassette player while on holiday in Spain, mustve been about early 80s and the line "4 oclock in the morning" came booming out at yep, you guessed it, 4am! classic tune and enjoyable memories!! Thnx for the posting! :)
Very intelligent songwriting and dito instrument handling. Can't say I like Mr Oldfield as a person, but it must be given to him, that he wrote one of the 20'th century classics with this piece, which is rather easy to tell now, but was almost impossible to predict at the time. Love and respect, Mike!
i watched (i watched) your vision forming.... ahhhh such lyrics what a beautiful voice and music to accompany her. This is a great song for aspiring young females with an acoustic guitar and a soft voice
I first heard this song when I was 20 and I was spending two months in England. I fell in love with a British guy. So whenever I listen to this song it reminds me of those days. I spent a real wonderful time.
I listen to REM, Rammstein and Nirvana, but this song is amazing!!! As the Arrival and To France! Ideal for the Christmas season! I'm still crying this, because it´s very sentimental. Mike and Maggie, you´re gods!!!!
'Man in the Rain' was actually written shortly after Moonlight Shadow in 1983, but wasn't recorded until Oldfield was working on the TB3 album. When it was eventually produced, it sampled drum sections from Moonlight Shadow, which is why they sound so similar.
The fact mike Oldfield did tubular bells and this. I will never look at moonlight shadow the same.
crises album is a must have.
Is this a song with a bad meaning, or did these guys do bad things?
Voice off this Girl is so soft.Love it!!!

This is in my opinion one of the best pop songs ever, that tune is so catchy. Brilliant even 28 years later :)
Easy now
I agree
And now 40 years later.
Easy now nothing. This is better than anything the beetles, Elvis The Eagles..you name the bandthis is better than any song they ever wrote.@@W81Researcher
41 years has passed. Still.
I'm truly in love with Maggie's voice. It's not only Mike's work (even if it's superb).
This song is perfect, really. The music, the lyrics and the voice of the singer in every single word. Just amazing.

Wow, just read this 12 years after you posted it. So now it would be 38 years, hope you guys are still well and going strong! 😊
@@briandavies1397 Still married and our son is 39🍾😀😀

Anyone who hates this song has no business listening to music.
YOU HAD AN AWESOME GYM TEACHER WITH AN AWESOME TASTE IN MUSIC! I did too actually she lives right around the corner from me.
I adore this song. It has meaning and is delivered by a beautiful voice.
A true classic -never get tired of listening to this song, or tired from watching the video.
First class in every respect!
Always loved this song. When I was at school, before I had it on a CD, I used to insist on going to a local cafe that had a jukebox at least once a week so we could put this on.
Great memory!

No matter what version I'm listening to, this song is amazing. It's just impossible to make it un-amazing.
Heard this in the 80's visiting Germany...never understood why this wasn't a hit in America!
So many smiles and tears on this song ...
It just brings back All my memories of my childhood. Oldfield is a bloody GOD.
The very video with the same intro I saw as a child - I thought I lost, like swallowing a painful scream - this hurt, I saw an exquisite picture and beautiful lyrics - Try as I may, I couldn’t find this song no matter how much I wracked my brain and stomach.
I know man, my favourite genre is melodic death metal but THIS is easily one of the best songs I have ever heard :D love it :)
This song sends a shiver up my spine in a good way.............. amazing how a song can bring back your best memories
I may be 18 but I agree today's Music is nothing compare to this...

As a 16 year old boy... Many people wouldn't think that I like songs from the 80's... Yet I LOVE them :D
I can't believe this comment was written 12 years ago
How the hell could anyone even think of pressing the dislike button on this song?! It's amazingly beautiful!
I wish I could turn back time and enjoy the 80s...Thank you RUclips for these remarkable artists.
