Sutherland was well known in Canada for playing Doctor Norman Bethune, not once, but twice. Once in a television docu-drama on the CBC and then in 1990 in a high profile theatrical production. The film co-stars Helen Mirren as Bethune's wife and covers Bethune his early career in Montreal, fighting to introduce socialized medecine, his participation as a medic during the Spanish civil war in 1936, all the way into China during WWII where he died of blood infection.

I know this isnt strictly about the Don, but In kellys heroes, at the 65 ish minute mark when oddball is checking out the bride. I've always wondered why one of his crew is in a British Black Beret and leather jerkin, wearing what might be a pixie suit.
Is this guy a runaway from the British army? If not, Who is he?
If he is a yank, Why choose to dress this guy up for the movie like that? I'm intrigued

Maybe just traded for it? They seemed to be sitting around for some time and are very relaxed about what uniforms they wear. The real answer is probably that costume department used whatever they had, or the actor was British and used what he was familiar with.
